Problems with dovecot using Maildir on JFS.
Howdy, I have dovecot installed on CentOS (rhel3 clone), and I'm using Dag's dovecot package. I have postfix setup to deliver to Maildir, in /home. The /home volume was formatted with JFS. In this setup, both Outlook and Thunderbird would not show any new mail unless they were completely shutdown and restarted. I have moved /home to an ext3 formatted and all is well. Anyone have

RPM .spec files in NUT source tree
All, Arnaud and I were discussing the *.spec files we have in the NUT source tree, and with the 2.4.0 release of NUT just around the corner, I would like to make sure we are pointing people in the right direction for NUT RPMs. Currently, we have *.spec files for "generic-rpm" (has a few macros for RedHat 6.x and 7.x), Mandriva (circa NUT 2.0.2), openSUSE, and RedHat (apparently from

TLS negotiation from client fails after openssl upgrade
Is anyone using dovecot on Fedora fc5-devel? I had to rebuild my rpm of alpha4 due to dependencies when I pulled in openssl-0.9.8a (with a whole bunch of other updates). Now when I start my mail client (balsa) it tells me it "Cannot connect to the server: TLS negotiation failed". Dovecot wrote in maillog: "imap-login: Disconnected: rip=1.2.3.4, lip=1.2.3.4, TLS". Making rpm from tar.gz
OS: CentOS 5 x86. I have read in some places that we can make an rpm package from tar.gz, by issuing rpmbuild -ta. However it doesn't seem to work. Any hints?

trouble building an rpm
i'm a newbie at building rpms. I made a few rpms years ago, but can't now make one on Centos 5. In /usr/local/rpmbuild, there are 5 subdirs: BUILD RPMS SOURCES SPECS SRPMS tmp When I type: rpmbuild -ba /usr/local/rpmbuild/SPECS/centos-release-cr-ihc.spec I get 'file not found' errors, for paths in /usr/local/rpmbuild/tmp: error: File not found:

SquidAnalyzer: minor trouble building RPM
Hi, I'm using the SquidAnalyzer network analysis tool in combination with Squid. Up until now, I've been running Slackware Linux on my servers. I built a custom package that installs SquidAnalyzer to /var/www/vhosts/squidreport/html. Then I setup an Apache virtual host for SquidAnalyzer's pages. Since I'm migrating my servers from Slackware to CentOS, I'd like to build a

rpm building and hyphens in Version tags
According to http://www.rpm.org/api/4.4.2.2/specfile.html a Version: tag can contain a hyphen, as the tarball for the source I am compiling is named 2.3-pre4 etc. When I try to build it I get an error about the illegal char? Anyone know about the discrepancy between the docs and RHEL's rpmbuild? Without recreating a new tarball and bungling the name how does one gracefully handle this?

Cannot build rpm with mysql support from dovecot.spec
I've been playing for hours with the dovecot.spec file to build --with-mysql. The resulting RPM builds fine but when dovecot runs it does not recognize the passdb mysql statement. I also noted that the spec file has a version of 1.0-stable and rpmbuild complains about an invalid '-' in the version. Being a newbie in rpmbuild, can someone assist me in building for CentOS 4 on i386?

What package or rpm do I need to install to fulfill this dependency or get rid of this error ? Processing

maildir and /var/spool/mail/$USER
I was told to use dovecot because it was easier than cyrus. I just upgraded from fc1 to fc3. I am not sure what fc1 used but I think it was cyrus and it worked perfect out of the box no configurations to do. The new cyrus-imapd is not so simple so I got dovecot. I see examples saying to use mbox=~/mail:INBOX=/var/spool/mail/%u but when I try that I cannot map mail folders that reside

OT - Automated rpm builds
