FOLDER INTERNAL DATA (uw pine header)
Hello! I run Dovecot on CentOS 4 (dovecot-1.1.4-0_81.el4), and I *also* run the "Alpine" mail system that comes with that OS. Alpine still writes out the 'FOLDER INTERNAL DATA' pseudo-message at the beginning of each user's mbox, but dovecot does not. I make use of that record as a simle/quick way to verify when a user actually last read their e-mail (for administrative

Migrating from UW IMAP - pine - Thunderbird - squirrelmail
Hello! I saw your post to the mailing list (http://www.dovecot.org/list/dovecot/2006-January/010968.html) where you write "A description for pine with imap acces without entering any password is also discussed.", but I didn't find such description in this post. Would you be so kind to point me to some source where it is explained - currently users have to insert the

(Al)pine on CentOS 6
Greetings, The alpine mail rpm indicates that it comes packaged with configuration files (/etc/pine*conf*). However, they aren't there. Possible? Also, how did you get rid of the annoying alpine bug: a message that keeps flashing - [Folder vulnerable - directory /var/spool/mail must have 1777 protection]? Thanks. Max Pyziur pyz at brama.com

PC-Pine "Junk in end of group"
I am running PC-Pine under Windows XP, connecting via SSL to a Dovecot IMAP server (0.99.10-2 under Debian woody). When I open a mail folder (mbox format) in Pine I get the following non-fatal error: [Junk in end of group: pn=undisclosed-recipients al= dn=] A similar error was reported to comp.mail.pine as happening with a Lotus Domino server. Mark Crispin explained it as a server-side bug:

Period at end of folder in Pine
When using folder-name completion, Pine sticks a period at the end of dovecot mediated IMAP folder names. This is invalid, of course, and I end up having to backspace the period to use the proper name. Anyone have a clue on a workaround? I'd imagine this is a FAQ type issue.... Thanks, Doug

"Discarding bogus continuation" message in pine
Running 1.0alpha5 (though I've been having this problem for the past couple of versions), and using mbox for the mailboxes. After I've read my mail using Apple's Mail.app (or Thunderbird) and take it offline, when I try to open the INBOX (or any mailbox) with pine, I get the following message (in pine): [Discarding bogus continuation in msg 1: $Forwarded NonJunk] Quitting

dovecot & pine
Hello, using dovecot-1.0.r12 on a 6.1 FreeBSD system and pine-4.64 on FreeBSD as well. After switching from Courier..i cannot seem to access my folders anymore. Just INBOX is viewable. On different mail clients on has to resubscribe..yet there's no such feature w/Pine. Anyone ever had this issue? Also, let me know what sort of info you need me to post in here to get some help on this.

Mail Answered status flag in pine stopped working in rc19
The Flag indicating that a message has been Answered does not work in pine. The status flags for New and Deleted work as always. The Answered flag worked properly in dovecot 0.99, but after upgrading to 1.0rc19 it stopped working. Interestingly, mail that was answered before upgrading to rc19 still shows the proper flag. I have tried with mbox_dirty_syncs turned on and off and I have tried

dovecot and pine tab-completion
Hello, So, I'm migrating from Binc to Dovecot, and one of my users has run into an odd complaint/issue. I don't know that it's a Dovecot issue necessarily, but maybe the people here know a fix anyway... The problem is that pine tab-completion now appends a "." to the end of folders that have sub-folders. In other words, say the user has these folders: INBOX

Dovecot 64-bit and Pine error
Hi all, I compiled a 64-bit Dovecot stable (13-03-2005) version on a Solaris 9 box with gcc 3.4.2. OpenSSL and libiconv are compiled 64-bit also. The configure I use: export CPPFLAGS="-m64 -I/var/tmp/openssl/include" export LDFLAGS="-m64 -L/var/tmp/openssl/lib" ./configure \ --prefix=/opt/dovecot \ --sysconfdir=/etc/opt/dovecot
