Problems with dovecot using Maildir on JFS.
Howdy, I have dovecot installed on CentOS (rhel3 clone), and I'm using Dag's dovecot package. I have postfix setup to deliver to Maildir, in /home. The /home volume was formatted with JFS. In this setup, both Outlook and Thunderbird would not show any new mail unless they were completely shutdown and restarted. I have moved /home to an ext3 formatted and all is well. Anyone have

mailbox sorting issue
Thanks for the "junk at end" help. Now I'm having one more perplexing issue: When I sort a Dovecot mbox in Pine, the most recent messages tend to linger near the bottom of the message list, regardless of how they're sorted. Here's a snippet of the bottom of the list, sorted by arrival time: 448 2003-09-24 20:31 sprightly at e... Re: *hoopoe 449 2003-09-24

Fixed a Duplicate?
Greetings We have recently switched from mbox to Maildir so that we can implement symlinks for a large email account that is shared (partially) between some 20 or so users. The setup is dovecot-1.0.3-6.fc6, procmail-3.22-17.1, sendmail-8.13.8-2. Procmail has a single recipe in /etc/procmailrc that simply says "DEFAULT=$HOME/Maildir/". The problem is that I am seeing a lot of blank

Extra inbox problem
One of my users (who uses Outlook) has lost all her folders that were inside her INBOX. She collects her mail by IMAP. I have confirmed that she has no folders in her INBOX. However, if I use Pine, I can see a couple of extra folders, "INBOX." and "Junk Email." that I don't think should be there. There already folders by that name but without the dot on the end. If

No 'from' in messages
Hi all, Over the weekend, we've migrated our old mail environment to Sendmail and Dovecot: - Dovecot 1.0 stable - Sendmail 8.13.3 - Procmail 3.22 Procmail is MDA for Sendmail and it delivers mail to Maildir boxes. Email clients like Eudora, Thunderbird, Outlook and mutt are working OK. When using Outlook Express and Pine however, in the message list the 'from' or

But on the same server there is a Squirrelmail which sends emails as a localhost. To send email in this way there is no any authorization. Besides one preson use PINE on the server... How to do that

Corrupted transaction log file, dotlocks..?
I'm new to Dovecot but I've been able to get it up and running on a test basis without too much difficulty. I'm running dovecot-stable-20050508 with maildir, under Linux (an old Gentoo setup that's been stable for about 2,5 years). Mail client is Thunderbird. However, in the course of experimentally copying the accumulated household email (95000 emails from the last 10 years)

great disappearing email mystery
Have there been any issues with dovecot and using outlook express (imap) as an email client? I have had a couple of users come up with random missing emails. Im trying to figure out if it is user error, or something wacky in my mailserver. I cant find anything telling in maillog files or my messages. Dovecot version is 1.0.3. Its ok to reply to me, I get list messages digest.

changing INTERNALDATE or similar
I have a question which others must have encountered. I switched from uw-imap to dovecot-imap a few months ago and moved my fairly large mail archive (~15 yrs) by simply mounting both accounts in a mail app and simply copying my folders over. This worked well, and all my mail is in order when I view it in evolution or thunderbird on any number of machines. However, since our company uses MS

dovecot rpms, .subscriptions file, mbox to maildir
Hi, I am running dovecot 0.99-14 on a Fedora Core 2 machine. I had a few questions: 1) I wanted to upgrade to the dovecot-1.0 release. However, I am not sure if that's really required. dovecot-0.99-14 has been running very well for me for quite some time. Is there a real advantage to switching to the latest release. The reason I'm asking this is because: i) I don't have too

pine, INBOX, and dovecot
Hi all, I've been experimenting with Dovecot; tests with Maildir seemed to work fine. However, now I'm trying with mbox folders, and I'm having a problem where I do not get an INBOX listed using pine. Outlook Express and IMP show it fine. I snooped part of the session, which appears to go like this (it is slightly garbled, sorry -- I couldn't get rawlog to work by creating

RC7: its issues or mine?
Background: I'm new to dovecot (although with many years Washington IMAP behind me). We're considering migrating from Washington IMAP to dovecot on the main service here, and have just started trying dovecot, using RC7. Washington, IMAP has the usual(-ish) "/var/spool/mail" shared area for the INBOX (trad. UNIX "From " format); a user's folders default to being
