I'm trying to setup a dovecot proxy through and LDAP server.
I'm already using Perdition and it works very well but I would like to setup

The version of dovecot is 1.1.16 but I can't understand how to setup dovecot
correctly.
This is my dovecot.conf:

Problem with pop3 and alpha3
Hi all, I have a problem with dovecot-alpha3 and pop3 protocol (on a tru64
5.1a...)
In my Maildir/cur there are 8144 mails and if I use pop3 protocol I receive in
the output 8146 line instead of 8144. The problem is that 2 mails are
duplicated . The output of ?List? command is like:
1 51265
2 261783

DJBDNS: very weird dnscache issue
Hello all,
We have put a DNS server online running DJBDNS v1.06
(ndjbdns-1.06-1.el6.x86_64) on a 64-bit CentOS 6.6 server. We have done
some limited testing on the machine which it passed - i.e., dnscache was
talking to tinydns, the queries went through fine, etc.
As soon as we put it online subjecting it to live load the following
happened:
1) Within a short time period (about a minute) the

Alpha1..2.. and 3 with Tru64
Hi all,
I've found a little problem to compile dovecot on a tru64 os v5.1.
The problem is the lack of the "inttypes.h" into the included header in the
project.
Without this include the make process will fail because it can't find the
uint32 type.
So is sufficient to add the line '#include <inttypes.h>' in the
src/lib/lib.h of the tgz distribution package.

Samba4 join xp problems
Samba4 no longer supports clients with windows xp, because I have updated the samba to version 4.11.6 and workstations with xp are no longer allowed to join, it gives an error that there are many remote connections that can be made , it does so for both domain controllers and file servers with that version of samba

Haswell 4770 misidentified as Sandy Bridge
Hi,
I'm running libvert on a Debian 7 system. I have upgraded libvert and qemu
from source (v1.06 and 1.5.0 respectively) and the problem persists. The
guest OS is also a Debian 7 system running a non-SMP kernel. The error
message from virt-manager is
Error starting domain: unsupported configuration: guest and host CPU are
not compatible: Host CPU does not provide required features: rtm,

DJBDNS: very weird dnscache issue
Lucian,
So far here is the best we could find out:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1084747
Testing to see if this is the solution; so far it seems to be.
Cheers,
Boris.

OT: WinNT(2000) player to open files with unicode names?
Sorry for posting somewhat off-topic...
Most my music files have names in hebrew (FAT32 partition). I dual-boot
between a hebrew win98 (where these files are opened nicely by winamp,
freeamp and any other program) and a hebrew win2000, where windows media
player is the only program I've seen so far to open them. All others say
"can't open file ???? ?? ???.ogg" (or .mp3) - both

Verizon Vonage 101
I've dug down as far as I could on www.uspto.gov for
anything remotely close to what is going on with
Verizon and all searches end with only two
possibilities in regards to what is going on.
So unless the patent was issued to someone else and
Verizon bought it, these are the only two possible
patents this case could be based on...

Apparent SNMP remote-root vulnerability.
I just had a remote root break-in on my machine (x86 running Red Hat Linux
5.0 with all the updates except for kernel-2.0.32-3) this morning at
06:03:28 EDT. From what I''ve been able to gather, it appears to have been
through snmpd, which I missed when I was weeding out unused daemons.
Sorry for the feeble message, but all I know (or at least strongly
suspect) is that there''s a

IP6 Anyone?
Today I received an allocation of IP6 addresses for some servers. I can
'play' with the last 2 of the 8 IP6 address segments.
I always thought, mistakenly, IP6 was 6 segments, because it was IP6.
IP4 had 4 segments. However IP6 is actually IP version 6 and it has 8
segments. The other interesting discovers are:
:: means one or more 0 segments, example :: can mean 0:0:0: or just 0:0:

CISCO 2950 -> 4 connections -> Cap of 512 Kbps -> How to bond ?
The ISP giving net access at our office has installed a 24 port CISCO
2950 switch in our server room. I can buy 24 connections from them and
get 12Mbps of Upload but each individual connection is restricted to
512Kbps.
Currently we have requirement of 20 simulataneous calls so we
purchased 4 connections from the ISP. Giving us a total of 2 Mbps of
upload b/w but spread over 4 different connections

performance problem?
Hi,
I'm running dovecot on a small server. I put all my mail from the last
10 years on it (approx. 160 mb).
I'm seeing terrible performance. Sometimes, my client needs several
minutes to display a message. This is with mutt, thunderbird and
evolution. Copying an outbound message to the Sent IMAP folder (15k
messages) typically takes a few minutes, but can be quite fast on
occasion

Rails on a Mac - I''ve seen the light
Well I finally broke down and got me one of those Intel iMacs and a copy
of Textmate. It took me a bit to get use to Textmate but once I learned
some of the shortcuts I was cruising. Mac OS X took very little time to
get used to as I already had a decent *nix background. Up until this
point I had been primarily on Windows.
Some of the productivity highlights I''ve found:
