Oddities with Debian unstable dovecot
Hello, I'm running an Debian etch box with unstable and ever since the last upgrade to dovecot, I've seen odd things. At times, I would see emails would go missing from the Inbox or other folders, and I couldn't move emails that were moved from the Inbox to another folder back into the Inbox. These have seen gone away since I removed all dovecot.* files and .index* files from my

popa3d migration problem
Hello, I tried to migrate from popa3d to dovecot but I couldn't manage with 'pop3_reuse_xuidl = yes' option. First of all it turned out that the feature is not supported in dovecot for Fedora Core 4 (dovecot-0.99.14-4.fc4). So I downloaded latest stable release of Dovecot but it didn't have this option included too. Then I compiled the newest alpha version (dovecot 1.0.alpha4)

Strange behavior with samba mountpoint
I have a Redhat 8.0 box with many external connections. Several nfs and 3 samba. Today I tried to reattach to one on my mounts and I am geting "Could not resolve mount point /mnt/dir". If I do an ls -a I can see the dir, but when adding the l option to ls it does not show up. fuser returns for the dir, Input/output error I apologize if this has nothing to do with Samba, but I am

Hello, Has anyone succeeded on configuring and compiling Sieve capable Dovecot LDA on RHEL 4 x86_64 platform? I am having problems with configure script hanging on sed while creating Makefiles. # ./configure --with-dovecot=../dovecot .. checking how to hardcode library paths into programs... immediate checking whether stripping libraries is possible... yes checking for library containing

mysql
Hello, Does dovecot require mysql in order to work? Fedora rpms are claiming mysql dependencies. I'm sure you're aware of the long-lived arguement of postgresql v. mysql. If it wasn't your intention to force this, then please snarl at Red Hat. If it was your intention, then grrrrr! Thanks for this product. I like it for it's speed and stability. Jim Edwards

mbox slowness in dovecot-1.0-test61
Hi, We're trying out Dovecot to see if it's a good replacement for UW-imapd. It seems to be very slow in opening an mbox file, even after it's been indexed. (I mean way slower than UW) Here's some info on the system: Dovecot-1.0-test61 SuSE 8.1, Linux kernel 2.4 Using NFS to access mail. I've tried turning off mmap, using dotlocking, using fcntl locking (lockd, etc. are

imaps on alternate ports
I'm trying to test out dovecot 1.0 alpha 3 prior to an upgrade from dovecot-0.99.14, but I cannot get imaps listening on anything other than 993. I've tried putting listen = *:2023 in the global section or in the imap { } section. No luck. What is the proper format for a config that only runs imaps and only listens on a particular port? -- Andrew Clark Campus Network Programmer

Upgrade to new server question
I'm vainly trying to get a new server ready to become the default mail server. We have a SAN, so I don't need to move the mailboxes (I can mount the same partition from both machines), but the question is what version of dovecot to load. I'm assuming that I cannot run both 0.99.14 and 1.00.x on the same maildirs (the indexes differ?). However, is it safe for me to mount the

I haven't seen a post from him for some weeks now and "normally" Timo is quite active when it comes to supporting his 'dovecot' warp drive :-) Udo Rader -- bestsolution.at EDV Systemhaus GmbH http://www.bestsolution.at -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... Recommended dovecot version
Hi, I'm running CentOS 4 in a X86_64 server with dovecot. I've been having some (already reported by others) problems. For example, sometimes - randomly - a mbox file wil get a couple of lines at the beggining of the mbox file (/var/spool/mail/user), before the first From line, and dovecot will complain that that file is not a mbox file. Also, neither sylpheed nor thunderbird would

More verbose logging of POP transactions?
Hi all - I'm brand new to dovecot (0.99.14 on freebsd 5) and am just playing with it a bit. POP works just fine, but the only thing that shows up in my logs is this: Sep 7 11:46:25 freebsd5 pop3-login: Login: philip [10.28.61.200] Thought maybe syslog was quietly eating things, but told dovecot to use it's own log file and it didn't improve. Is there a way to turn on more

assertion problems w/ 1.0alpha4
Hey list, I have been using 0.99.14 for a while now but recently decided to try to upgrade to 1.0alpha4 to get the latest and greatest. I'm building from source myself on a Slackware 10.0 machine. Slackware ships with UW-IMAP configured to keep your inbox in /var/spool/mail and your other folders in ~/. I've been using the same setup for dovecot so that the migration is

Second user problems
I have dovecot (0.99.14 under FC4) set up and working beautifully for my mail, handing on to procmail, and handling many subfolders. Today I needed to set up a second user. I added his account in kmail and created a sub-folder, but no sent-mail, trash etc. were created. I have sent test messages and /var/log/maillog says they have been processed, but they are not arriving in his inbox.

Segfault when using multiple servers
Should it be possible to run multiple dovecot servers on the same mailboxes (Maildir in my case)? I've a setup where 2 dovecot 0.99.13 servers write to the same mailboxes, which dovecot apparently does not like too much. Example (using imap): - Login with mail client on server1 - Login with webmail on server2 - Delete a mail using webmail on server2 - Hit send/receive in the mail client

1.0-test38
http://dovecot.org/test/ - Recent flag fixes - saving/copying mails into maildir which didn't have index files was broken - output stream fix - pop3 crashfix - mbox_dirty_syncs fixes, also disabling it didn't work before - etc. There are still some crashes and I don't remember if I fixed a problem with mboxes where expunging mails while new mails were coming caused some
