Another "Too many files open" post
I'm running Solaris 9 Sparc with Dovecot alpha 5 and using maildir
format.. I noticed in the log file the following error:
dovecot: Dec 20 15:54:18 Error: imap(xxxxxxxx):
open(/export/home/xxxxxxxx/mail/.Sent
Messages/cur/1135013649.002916.mbox:2,Sab) failed: Too many open files
I called the guy and asked him what he was doing... synching his
folders. It hung for a while but finally

Oddities with Debian unstable dovecot
Hello,
I'm running an Debian etch box with unstable and ever since the last upgrade to dovecot, I've seen odd things. At times, I would see emails would go missing from the Inbox or other folders, and I couldn't move emails that were moved from the Inbox to another folder back into the Inbox. These have seen gone away since I removed all dovecot.* files and .index* files from my

Corrupted index files
I'm using alpha 5 and I'm getting "Corrupted index cache files" errors
on one user's account. I found several posts in the mail archives on
this subject and concluded from the responses that it's not a serious
problem because Dovecot can deal with it. I deleted the index files and
they were recreated but the error persists. The end user did not notice
any problem

Centos 5.5 - Kernel Panic while booting.
Dear centos community,
I was in the process of loading the latest 5.5 release of centos in a VMWARE ESX 4.1 host as my first virtual machine, suddenly while booting I got a panic error with the following on screen. Can someone point me in the right direction. This machine has 24 cores and I allocated 1 for Centos to use with 1024MB of memory. Any clues or workaround to solve this problem? Thank

subscriptions or .subscriptions?
I may have found a problem with the documentation concerning the
subscriptions file. On the Dovecot web site there is a document that
outlines the conversion from UW IMAP to Dovecot. The document says
Dovecot's folder list is stored in ".subscriptions"
However, I have found that Dovecot's folder list is really
"subscriptions" without the preceding dot. Did

Problems with alpha3 + openssl-0.9.8
Has anybody successfully compiled alpha 3 with the newly released
openssl-0.9.8? I just wasted the weekend trying to get dovecot to
compile using the new openssl libs. Openssl-0.9.7d works like dream.
Just wanted to know if anybody had this combo working.

Maildir and counting inodes
I've been testing with alpha 3 and I am about ready to go production. I
am switching from mbox to maildir and I'd like to know if there is a
formula or rule of thumb for determining if your file system will have
enough inodes to handle all the mail message files.
I could write a script to look at each user's mbox files, count the
number messages and calculate the average number

dovecot/Active Directory/KRB client (OT)
Gang,
For those who asked about making a Solaris system a Kerberos
client to Active Directory, the magic document to have is:
http://www.connectathon.org/seam1.0/files/c0101.htm
See the section "How to Configure a SEAM Client Using a Windows
2000 KDC". SEAM was Sun's Kerberos client stuff in Solaris 8;
it is just there as part of Solaris 9 and 10. These instructions

Bind won't start.
Dear Group,
In the process of configuring bind, I created a new configuration file under /etc/named.conf
options {
directory "/var/named";
version "Nope.";
};
zone "internal.micro.com" in {
type master;
file "internal.micro.com";
};
This is the definition I am using for the forward zone under /var/named/internal.micro.com

Netinstall & NFS using local server.
Dear CentOS community,
I have install centos via CD, DVD and Directly off the net via http and FTP. Now I want to do a NFS install from a local server and a client. Both, client and server are in the same vlan 10.14.10.0/255.255.255.0.
The server has a static 10.14.10.15 address and the client gets its own address via DHCP. I download the DVD image from one of the mirrors and placed it under

list.dir() function
Hi
I have an organism directory that contains two folders galGal3 and hg19 and
many other files.
orgDir = '/home/mary/org'
When I try to use list.dir() function, it gives me the same answer, no
matter what is the value of full.names argument.
> list.dirs(path = indexDir, full.names = FALSE)[1] "/home/mary/org"
[2] "/home/mary/org/galGal3"

Test Environment Question
I have my master IMAP server running DC V1.0.10. The homedir and
INBOXdir are physically resident there and NFS exported (no caching) to
3 other machines. I have installed V1.1beta13 on one of them (which
thus accesses the homedir/INBOXdir remotely) and plan to have a limited
community test-drive it there. Are there any hazards or drawbacks in
doing this? While the homedirs and INBOXdirs

MBOX to MAILDIR conversion
Thinking about going from mbox to maildir. Started with mbox way back
when but thinking about making the conversion. The main reason is that I
use rsync for backups and when these huge mailboxes are touched I have
to copy the whole thing. With maildir I only copy the files that change.
So - my questions is - what's the easiest way to make this happan. I
assume there are conversion

Antwort: MegaRAID SAS 9280-24i4e -- Centos support.
Timo,
Its interesting, I am presently attending a conference in NYC and in one
of the tables I saw the redhat vendor. My first question to them was "
What do you think about centos", they reply "You are using a
distribution without support and that is prompt to failure..." I don't
think this is an accurate statement is it? Anyway to make the story
short, they keep telling

phase determination
Hi,
I'm trying to determine the phase of irregularly sampled data. Is there any
particular reason why both spec.pgram and spec.ls return phase<-NULL for
vectors?
Thank you.

Problem with v1.1.10
I've been using 1.1.8 successfully but tried out 1.1.10 this morning.
I have a combination of system and virtual users. The system users
were unaffected by the change, but the virtual users all lost access
to their mail because their home directories, as interpreted by
dovecot, moved from user at domain to user at user@domain.
The location of the home directory is given to dovecot for

Question on moving folders
Is there a way to move an imap subfolder up one level? I have a bad
mouse and every now and then I have accidentally dragged an imap folder
on top of another folder. I am unable to get the original folder back
up one level. I've tried using several clients and I can't get it to
work with dovecot. I keep getting a "folder already exists" message.
I'm guessing dovecot
