OpenSSH Logging Madness
Feature request: - Please add a new LogLevel corresponding to the LOG_NOTICE syslog level. - Then modify OpenSSH to log to LOG_NOTICE only these events: - login failures - login successes Specifically, please: - add a new element to the LogLevel enum, say, 'SYSLOG_LEVEL_NOTICE', between 'SYSLOG_LEVEL_INFO' and 'SYSLOG_LEVEL_ERROR', in log.h -

Syslog facility in Linux
Hi ! While browsing Linux manpages (man 3 syslog) I noticed that the manual says that the LOG_AUTH facility is deprecated use LOG_AUTHPRIV instead. Is there a good reason why OpenSSH doesn't have an option to use LOG_AUTHPRIV facility ? (Looks like that tcpd/telnet etc. use the AUTHPRIV facility (in RH6.2)). Shouldn't be too hard to add the AUTH_PRIV facility ? Cheers, -Jarno --

Patch for the bestfortress driver 0.02
I could not make the bestfortress driver 0.02 work for my Best Fortress LI675VA, so I have made a patch for the driver. The reason was, that all responses are preceded and terminated by CR LF, but the driver would discard everything after the first CR LF. The following patch discards everything up to the first LF. It also adds a debugging feature of displaying the accepted data (level 5 i.e. -D

Execute some steps if a file isn't present
Hi all, I''ve come quite far with my puppet setup, but a few times I got this problem: I want to execute a few things if a file isn''t present on the puppet client. For example: I want puppet to check if the mod_passenger apache module exists. If not: installl passenger from gem. Execute the installer, copy the config file and enable the module with a2enmod. What would be the

rsync is slowing down
The cause is, of course, that the tree being syncronized ie getting larger, so of course rsync is slowing down. But in the case of my particular file tree, there is a way it could be speeded up, but this would obviously also need a change in the rsync protocol to accomplish it. Any tree that has major unchanged subbranches would benefit from this. The file tree I'm syncronizing in this case

Any work-around for very large number of files yet?
Yes, I've read the FAQ, just hoping for a boon... I'm in the process of relocating a large amount of data from one nfs server to another (Network Appliance filers). The process I've been using is to nfs mount both source and destination to a server (solaris8) and simply use rsync -a /source/ /dest . It works great except for the few that have > 10 million files. On these I get

Unix-like touch to update modification timestamp of file?
Hi, is it possible to update the modification time stamp of a file using R (on file systems supporting it)? It is sufficient to update the modification time to the current time. The best I can do for now is: touchFile <- function(pathname, ...) { if (!file.exists(pathname)) stop("No such file: ", pathname); info <- file.info(pathname); if (info$isdir)

Nested defined resources
I''m working on a module to handle creating and populating Python virtualenvs. Without going into too much detail, basically these are nicely-encapsulated environments into which python packages can be installed and run. It''s not uncommon to have several virtualenvs on a system, potentially with the same packages installed (maybe different versions). Puppet''s defines

AVM B1 and PTP mode
Hi ! I've fetched a spare AVM B1 card from the cellar, and installed it. After "modprobe b1pci" I did "capiinit" and capiinit moaned about a missing t1.b4. So I search the web and found one at http://www.avm.de/ftp/cardware/b1/x_misc/ddi/. When I now look at the controller, I finally see p2p-mode: # cat /proc/capi/controllers/1 name b1pciv4-a400 io

Voicemail Volume Control Patch
Hello all, This is my first attempt at posting a patch. So if I screw this all up, my apologies and please someone let me know without beating me up too bad. To use this patch. You need to have an extra line in /etc/asterisk/voicemail.conf that looks like volgain=10.0 The 10.0 gets passed to sox which you will need installed on your system. 10.0 is what works for me, anything over 1.0 will

Multiple Registers
List, Does anyone know how to limit the amount of registrations that a sip user can have? For example, I have 2 softphones that I use on my laptop & desktop, both use the same username & password. If I have both softphones up at the same time, I can make simultaneous calls with each of them. I know you can have call-limit=1 but in this case, I want to allow them to have 3 way calling
