Unhandled exception c0000005 after fresh rpm install on FC3 x86_86
I got stuck with Wine on 64-bit Fedora Core 3. I can not remember when
it happened (I was using wine few times a month), but somehow wine
stopped working. I have removed all rpms and installed wine20050111-1fc3
rpm but when I start wine for the first time as a "normal" user, it
fails with the following:
wine: creating configuration directory '/home/robert/.wine'...

Blank Dailog Boxes FC3 - Wine RPM install
I was experimenting with Wine a while back, and have periodically built
Wine from source for experimenting. I have been careful to clean up
after myself (make uninstall) afterwards.
Last night, I did an install of Wine version 0.9.20 on a system running
Fedora Core 3 by running "# yum install wine". The install ran
smoothly, however, all wine dialog boxes (including winecfg) are

Problem with folders, dovecot-0.99.13-3.FC3 and Eudora 7.0.1
Greetings,
the Eudora client is attempting to create a subfolder of an existing
folder, using the "Make it a folder option" which creates a directory
under /home/<user>/mail/<a few paths>. Eudora is seemingly stuck in
attempting to create the directory, but there is nothing under /var/log
which seems useful in diagnosing the problem.
Thank you for your consideration,

dovecot 0.99.xx to 1.0-stable how-to?
I realize that there have been some big changes in features and
configuration file settings between 0.99.xx and 1.0-stable, so when I
went to perform an upgrade on our testing server, I carefully combed
through the configuration files and matched up everything I could.
I fired up dovecot-1.0-stable and was pleased to see that it was happily
running. I attempted to connect to it, and

Dovecot Stable (or: When is 1.0 coming to a server near you?)
I'm mainly just curious, but what version of dovecot is considered to be
stable enough to be running in a production environment?
We're running the 0.99.13 version shipped with FC3 and, while
experiencing great performance gains over UW-IMAP, we have hit a couple
of snags here and there (random and infrequent characters at the
beginning of a mailbox, periodic duplication of a message

Dovecot on FC3 with Active Directory authentication
I am building an IMAP server that uses Dovecot/Sendmail on FC3 to
replace our POP server that uses Dovecot (via POP)/Sendmail on FC2.
My new server is authenticating users via winbind/smb against my
WIndows 2003 Active Directory. The authentication is working great.
The problem come up when a user gets an email and has not ever logged
into the IMAP server via SSH, local, or GDM,

dovecot pop3s delivers new messages as old (unread) messages ...
I just set up dovecot on fedora core 3 with only pop3s protocol
enabled. On my client machine, I use fetchmail to get the mail and
then go through procmail and eventually ready by mutt.
Everything seems to work fine, except that all new emails are marked
old unread emails (i.e., marked with 'O' flag instead of 'N'). This
is annoying because some open source lists are so large

Enabling different quota limits for different users for /etc/passwd as userdatabase on FC3
hey friends,
I am running my company's mail server on FC3 which comprises of
Postfix + Dovecot + MailScanner + Clamav + Squirrelmail + MailWatch +
Spamassassin. I am using Dovecot 0.99.13-3 version on FC3 and I want
to implement Quota limits for the users.
I am using userdatabase as /etc/passwd file (auth_userdb = passwd )
and password database as pam(auth_passdb = pam) for dovecot. I read

I actually modified the old UW IMAP 2002 SPEC file from RHL9/FC1,
and modified a few config files, to support UW IMAP 2004b.
I made one with both RFC3501 (no text passwords over SSL) and
non-RFC3501 (legacy, text passwords

Horrendously slow transfer speeds in FC3 is drivingmecrazy!!! Please help... - SOLVED!
Thanks for the tip but recompiling the latest version was the second thing I
did after trying and failing to tweak the smb.conf on my original hardware
conf. I found that compiling it for my specific architecture (i686)
increased my performance by 100% (from a punny 0.8 MB/s to a better but
still punny 1.6 MB/s).

dovecot-stable branch
To confuse Dovecot versioning even more, I've added "dovecot-stable"
module into CVS. This is a version of Dovecot before the recent keyword
changes but with several bugfixes backported to it. It's thought to be
mostly stable.
I intend to keep it updated with important bugfixes and with other
simple bugfixes. Although I'm not sure if I'll make a large code base
upgrade

dovecot-stable mbox weirdness
I just tested dovecot-stable from 2005-03-08 and 03-12 and saw the
following behavior. All of my mbox folders show is the first message's
header. None of the files were truncated (whew, saves a restore). I
had 0.99.12.1 installed before this, and just switched back to 0.99.14.
Both 0.99.x versions work fine. I removed all of the index files to
see if there was a hiccup there, with

assertion failed -0.99 -> 1.0-stable
Hello Timo,
I've upgraded from dovecot-0.99 to dovecot-1.0-stable (the 2005-05-09
version) on FreeBSD 5.4 and encountered the following problems
(problem #4 (assertion failed) made me downgrade back to
dovecot-0.99...) :
1. mbox sync: UID inserted in the middle of mailbox /var/mail/gopauld
(5230 > 4407)
--> OK, that's documented on the Wiki, not a real problem

remote install/upgrade of FC3 name server to CentOS 4 or 5
Hello,
Does anyone know of a good URL that covers the remote install/upgrade
of a FC3 system to CentOS 4 or 5?
We have one physically stranded FC3 system which is a name server and
we need to upgrade to remove vulnerabilities.
Kind regards/ldv
