Feature request - umask for index files
I'd like a separate feature for setting umask for index and cache files differently from email files. The reason is that I'm putting indexes in a separate location and I need group create rights in directories. Otherwise what happens is that the first user creates the directories, but the second user for the domain that has a different UID gets an error. default_mail_env =

Semi-OT: Backing up maildir
We switched our mail server over from mbox to maildir a few months ago and couldn't be happier - the performance under normal load is incredible. However we now have a problem with backup.. Typically we would run tar on the mail server, sending its output to another server via ssh.. Like this: tar cfp - /home | gzip | ssh other.server (cd /backups && tar xfp -).. I have tried

Supporting charsets
Hi there! We are trying to use support for japanese language, but when composing in squirrelmail or while resending either in squirrel or in Outlook, we do not get the right symbols. The server and client PCs have all the required software. Indeed, we receive japanese written messages and can display them well. The problem arises when we resend or compose a message. In the squirrel configuration,

:INDEX and :CONTROL in 0.99.14
Before anyone say "upgrade" for various reasons I can't right now (and at any rate everything else works well with this version). My problem is that I can't get :INDEX and :CONTROL working at all: default_mail_env = maildir:~/:INDEX=/home/dovecot/index/%d/% n:CONTROL=/home/dovecot/control/%d/%n ls -l /home/dovecot/ total 8 drwxrwxrwx 3 dovecot dovecot 4096 Mar 8

Can't see existing mail folders
I have installed dovecot version 0.99.11 on my Slackware 10.1 system recently and it basically works as expected. However I can't get it to 'see' existing mbox hierarchies. I have the following in dovecot.conf:- default_mail_env = mbox:/home/%u/Mail:INBOX=/var/mail/%u (I also originally tried with %h/Mail) IMAP MUAs can see the INBOX OK but I can't get them to see any of

"Access is denied" after connection is apparently successful
We have a small home network with Samba running on a Slackware Linux 10.1 system, it's been running happily for several months or even maybe a year or so. It's running Samba version 3.0.4 Recently one of the Win2k clients is getting errors when trying to access Samba shares. The other clients are all still working OK and the same user can access shares from other client machines.

Login Engine Missing Source
Hi! I''m new to Rails and Ruby, so this might be a simple question. I wrote a simple blog-application using Rails 1.0 and installed login_engine to add some authentication mechanisms. After following the installation procedure I get this error when dispatching via FastCGI (ordinary CGI works): MissingSourceFile in <controller not set>#<action not set> no such file to

INBOX help needed, dovecot + squirrelmail
Im trying to figure out how to get dovecot to deliver to my mail_location (example: /opt/imapdata/j/jeff/INBOX/inbox) AND work with squirrelmail. Ive worked on this for hours reading the docs etc with no luck so far. I get dovecot-lda to deliver to: /opt/imapdata/j/jeff/INBOX/inbox but when I use squirrelmail, I see the following in the log: dovecot: imap(jeff): Debug: Effective uid=1006,

LSUB and namespaces - how to get rid of multible prefixes
I'm using dovecot 1.0.rc7 and Squirrelmain 1.4.8 using IMAP on a Debian 3.1 Testing system, and I'm having a problem. Upgrade security relevant packages
Hello, I'm looking for a solution to automatically yum update security relevant packages on a couple hundred Centos6/7 servers. The deployment/trigger would be Ansible. I looked into the "yum-plugin-security" and tested it on a CentOS 6 installation but always found no security relevant updates (yum list-security/yum --security update) where there should be at least a couple

imap problems; error accessing inbox and some other folders
Hello all, First off, please let me apologize for cross posting this in both the fedora and centos lists. I have just run into a problem with imap that's becoming a real issue. About two or three days ago some of the mail folders became unusable/unreadable. For instance, my inbox shows 41 unread messages when I access it through pine on the server. But if I imap into it from

Unwanted INBOX. prefix issues
I have a strange problem. I installed Dovecot and had my trash folder and such in the root of my maildir, and everything was working great. I then installed SquirrelMail which created folders in with the INBOX. prefix. I manually removed these from the maildir, but the INBOX.Trash is still shown in the folder listing of Thunderbird. This leads to some strange behavior, such as the delete

Commercial support
1.0 release is slowly (but surely :) getting nearer and I'd like to be able to offer commercial support for it for those who want or need it. I have a few different plans for how to do that, but I haven't really decided yet what to do. So I thought I'd ask a few questions here to see how much interest there is currently, which could help me make some decisions sooner. You should

IMAP EXPUNGE disconnect/box hang - Fedora Core 2, Squirrelmail and Evolution
I'm a bit befuddled by this behavior. I've been using dovecot for close to a year, and recently the Fedora Core 2 Update: dovecot-0.99.13-4.FC2 build came in via yum. Since then I occasionally get this EXPUNGE disconnect error. When the error hits, the box does not crash but I can no longer log in*, nor start any new processes. I happen to have gkrellm running and I see a slow but steady
