Renewing certificates
I'm setting up certbot/letsencrypt to provide a certificate for dovecot and sendmail. Is it necessary to restart dovecot to load the new certificate, as shown in most examples I find in blogs? That seems rude to established connections. When does dovecot read the cert and key files? Once at startup or each time a connection requests SSL? Is there a preferred locking protocol when changing

Fedora Core 4 not recognizing X100P cards
I am getting quite frustrated today, so please bear with me. I just installed Fedora Core 4 (was running RedHat 9 with a working Asterisk) now my Fedora does not appear to be recognizing my X100P (clone) at all. Hardware browser just shows them as unknown device. driver: hisax So, of course, my zaptel drivers do not work and therefore my asterisk does not work. any help would be greatly

Fedora Core 5 and Windows 98
Greetings All, My problem is trying to mount an SMB share from Fedora Core5 to a Windows 98 Machine. Before upgrading from FC4 to FC5 everything worked. I have searched around and it appears that the smbmount and mount -t smbfs options have been deprecated in Samba 3.0.22-1 in favor of CIFS. The command I have been trying now is: mount -t cifs //192.168.0.126/laptop /mnt/share -o username=chime

Desiring to set up Windows Vista and Linux Fedora Core 4
Greetings! Tonight is unfortunately the first small bit of time I've had to even try to get Samba configured between my Vista and my Linux FC4. (My mother as well as my extremely limited home time dealing with important things are my main delays.) It's not going well. :-) I have added hosts allow with 192.168.1 and 192.168.2. I have experimented with a few things. I

Triggering script from cron or web client
I have a Bash script, currently run a couple times an hour from cron, that pulls data from an old Windows DB by rsync, converts it to SQL, and injects it into a MySQL DB for display in a LAMP-based app. (Make and Perl are also involved to minimize the number of tables touched and to clean up the SQL generated by Pxlib.) I'd like to add the ability to refresh the data immediately from the

Zaptel won't compile under Fedora Core 4
I hope someone can offer me some help with this. Basically, the current CVS version of Zaptel will not compile under Fedora Core 4. I have closely followed the directions in http://www.voip-info.org/tiki-index.php?page=Asterisk+Fedora+Core+3 using the versions given in the FC4 distro with no luck. Here's the output when I run "make linux26". Any help would be great. TIA.

Volume of patches for CentOS vs Fedora
I'm trying to come to a decision between CentOS 4.2 and Fedora Core 4 for use on a server. One of the things the server will be serving is X desktops so there are some advantages to Fedora. However, one thing I can't help but notice is that the patch volume for FC4 from Oct 11 2005 thru the present compared to CentOS 4.2 for the same period is about 5 times greater. In fact, since

Fedora Core 4 system lockup with wine 200506.. - 0.9.1

Monitoring services
What's available to remotely monitor services? What I'd like is something that can run scripts for each service to connect to a port and verify that it's up, and then send me an SMS message (phone text) to let me know which, if any, are down. Also, does a script exist that checks all the services listed by chkconfig and reports those that should be up but are down?

SELinux question - to fix bug in Webmin
I found a bug in Webmin when using Webmin with SELinux in Permissive Mode. The author of Webmin, asked me, in their bug tracker on SourceForge: > Ok, thanks ... I see the problem. ip6tables equivalent for NAT?
with ipv6, you just allow the specific ports destined to the specific local machine(s) in on your WAN side, they don't need translating. same sort of rule as if you had a internet-facing service running on the routing system On Tue, May 26, 2020 at 11:55 AM Kenneth Porter <shiva at sewingwitch.com> wrote: > I finally got an ISP connection with working IPv6 and now I need to add

Fedora Core 4 and FC5's NEW EXT3 file system: "Reserved GDT blocks" ???
Hi, I've installed a few Fedora Core 4 and Fedora Core 5 recently, and found that the new ext3 file systems created with new mkfs.ext3(1.38+) has one more field than EXT3 created with old mkfs.ext3(1.34-), even the latter's dir_index feature was turned on and file systems were upgraded with "e2fsck -y -f -D" command. I have three questions thereafter: 1) what does the

Fedora Core 3 or Fedora Core 4? yum update o r not? also: SpanDSP -pre25 for 1.0.9 is out w00t!
Word. I'm doing a dupe of my production server this week as a CYA. Guess what: FC2. Once I yum update to the current kernel, no more yum. There's no reason to. You may have your own reasons (publicly avaliable server, for example) but why add uncertainty to an, at best, quite uncertain process (that of creating a stable Asterisk install given random hardware, network conditions, PSTN
