pop3-login process leakage
Hi,
I've recently deployed dovecot on our servers, to replace
courier-imapd. I'm delighted with its features and performance,
but there's a major problem - it's leaking pop3-login processes.
We have about 60 client machines, each collecting mail once every
two minutes. In this configuration, the number of pop3-login
processes increases by about ten an hour - apparently without

Dovecot Error: Master requested auth for nonexisting client
Hello,
The subject line says it all. It seems to be happening with regards to
my default auth setting in the dovecot.conf file. I currently have it
set to 'plain'. Am I missing something? FWIW, I am using the latest,
stable (alpha) release: 1.0.alpha3

0.99.10-test12
http://dovecot.procontrol.fi/test/
I should have released 0.99.10 already I think.. There's just two
annoying problems that I think should be fixed first:
- PAM: If user gives a wrong password, dovecot-auth process sleeps for
two seconds, blocking everyone else who are trying to authenticate at
the time. So using PAM isn't very good idea at the moment.
- OpenSSL problems. Are they

Ideas for Rails Shirt Graphics
I''ve had a couple ideas for Ruby on Rails shirt graphics for a little
while now:
1. "Fuck You" superimposed over, oh, probably a Ruby gem. Or Rails of
some sort.
2. "Ruby on Rails" superimposed over rails of cocaine. Maybe also with a
graphic of a crazed looking coder.
Anybody got graphics? Or can make them? Heh!

only owner (and root) can change attributes?
if i understand correctly, only the owner, and root, can change
attributes of a file?
thus, even though group members may be given permissions to write, and
delete, a file, they cannot change attributes, without the workaround of
copying and replacing the file?
and do i understand correctly that on winnt and successors, permission
to change attributes (eg 'everything' permission) can be

bge drivers does not work for 3COM 3C996-SX / 3C996B-T
I'm experiencing similar problems with a 3C996-T under 4.8-REL.
In particular, connecting a 4.8-REL machine to a 5.1-REL machine leads
to some interesting situations: I can do simple pings across the link,
but ssh fails, and heavy pings crash the 4.8 machine. Similarly
changing the interface configuration with ifconfig tends to crash the
4.8 machine (mtu, link0, up/down, etc). The

slug of zombies
after booting a CentOS 4.2 system
I have a bunch of zombies...
root 2828 0.0 0.0 0 0 ? Z 14:41 0:00 [chvt]
<defunct>
My read from googling this is chvt stems from something that involves a
shell.
They ***may*** have been created from my attempts to start mysqld which
isn't working (I will start another thread) but no efforts to kill them
off are working...

Plants vs Zombies
I've been running Plants vs Zombies for several months, now, on Fedora 13. It's been working fine in a window, but I decided to try it in full screen mode. Alas, that just gets me to a blank screen, and I have to use a terminal to kill it. I know there's a way (using either the registry or a config file) to get it back to a window, but I can't figure it out and don't want to

Problems with zombies left after calls to Festival
I started using Festival for the first time today and am having a problem
with zombies left behind after every time that it speaks. I'm using
Festival 1.4.3 with today's CVS of Asterisk. Everything seems to work.
The only obvious problem is that a defunct process is left behind every
call to Festival.
Is this a known problem? Does anyone know how I can fix this?

virsh list -all zombies
Hello Community,
I have a problem with two deleted KVMs. So far we have done everything
that is necessary:
virsh undefine [kvm-name] --managed-save --snapshots-metadata
--remove-all-storage --nvram
virsh destroy [kvm-name]
and we delete the xml-File and the .img.
If we now call "virsh list -all", then the machines are also gone.
However, after a restart of libvirtd they reappear in

zombies in dovecot-auth processes
Hi all,
I use dovecot-1.0-alpha2.
Way can't auth process shutdown in a clean way. I allways discover
lot of zombies for dovecot-auth, in a short time before shootingdown by
linux.
But everything work fine for client side.
Example:
dovecot 22931 0.0 0.0 3840 1104 ? S 12:12 0:00 pop3-login
dovecot 22932 0.0 0.0 3844 1108 ? S 12:12 0:00 pop3-login

help! smbd spawning Zombies when started with swat.
I am having a problem with my Samba machine, here are the details.
The machine in question is running FreeBSD 4.5-RELEASE on a Dual PIII/XEON
550.
I downloaded the source for Samba-2.2.3a and compiled without a hitch.
I also setup SWAT to run through an stunnel(ssl) pipe.
SWAT configuration of Samba worked great, but if I start the daemons(smbd &
nmbd) from SWAT, smbd seems to keep creating

Zombies?
Hey all,
Quick question about handling completed workers...
Most of my workers are one-offs that just let me spin off a long-running
file transfer process and then they just need to self-destruct when
completed. Thus, at the end of my do_work, I just call self.delete to (in
theory) self-destruct.
However, while checking the jobs.size from the console, I''ve noticed that

[PATCH] ocfs2:fix memory leak in dlm_add_migration_mle
After some parallel mount/umount test on ocfs2, we got this: slab error
in kmem_cache_destroy(): cache `o2dlm_mle': Can't free all objects.
Then we found a memleak situation in dlm_add_migration_mle().
When a mle found, it will be removed from dlm->hlist. If there is no
pointer to it at that moment, the mle will become an ?orphan mle?
that no process can find and release.
