Grant Tables between dom0 and domU?
Hi All, The interface manual says - grant tables provide a generic mechanism sharing between domains. Subsequent lines suggest mechanism sharing between only unpriviliged domains. Can grant tables be used for this capability based shared memory communication between dom0 and domUs? Thanks ~psr -- pradeep singh rautela "proud to be a TUXedo, BSDemons you are a little late" - me

Compiling dovecot on SuSE 9
Again I am asking for some help to compile and configure dovecot on SuSE 9. I have configured and compiled it as per the instructions and no errors or problems. When I try to run dovecot from the command line it does not complain or give me any errors. The daemon starts and dies almost immediately. Do I need to compile differently? What can I do to see what is the problem. I was asked to run

samba won't give up root
Hi, I'm using the latest version of Samba in (kind-of) an embedded environment, which means 'glibc, but no shadow/pam/md5' my problem is is that samba doesn't give up root priviledges. I connect as an unpriviliged user, but the smbd associated with the connection is still associated with root. Has anyone had this problem? It's very undesirable, as all the access controls are

Migration from pop3 to imapd
Dear list, I am planing to set up dovecot-imapd on my production-mail server which currently only runs pop3 via qpopper on debian-sarge. It would be best, if I could only use imapd and use the existing pop3- server (qpopper) as it is. Is this possible? Can the user both use pop3 (qpopper) and imapd (dovecot) in parallel then? Where does dovecot-imapd store its mails? Does it store its mail in

Why the name dovecot?
Why is docecot called dovecot? Actually, nobody likes these "rats with wings". ;-) Timo, can we know that or is it a secret? Sven

Occasional error msgs from 1.0-test49
I'm running 1.0-test49 on Solaris 2.8. MUA is Thunderbird (or mutt) running on FreeBSD. I'm using Maildir boxes. Occasionally, when browsing new mail in INBOX, I get an error back from the imapd, displayed in Thunderbird as the following popup msg: The current command did not succeed. The mail server responded: Error in IMAP command UID: Invalid BODY[..] parameter: Missing

Basic questions concerning mail...
Hey all, A few minutes ago, I installed Dovecot, hoping things would get clear by just looking at the relevant config files, but since they don't, I hope someone here could give me a clue... What I want to achieve is really only basic functionality. It's just for personal use, so it shouldn't get too complicated. Up til now, I have been using fetchmail to get my mail off of several

exchange, dovecot, mutt, evolution
Dear all, When I "migrate" my outlook folders to imapd (dovecot) it works well from a Windoze perspective, but if I open a migrated folder via imap (mutt, evolution) a cannot see the Senders. If i open the folder locally via mutt, the Senders are displayed correctly. By examining one folder with vi I recognised that there are no valid From headers but Return-Paths. Is there a common way

Handling of X-Status flags
Hi all, I've done a bit of searching and haven't seen anybody else coming across this problem yet: I noticed that Dovecot uses the opposite flags for marking messages as deleted and draft to most other MUAs I've seen or used: With PINE, mutt and uw-imapd at least, messages are marked with X-Status 'D' for Deleted, and 'T' for drafT. Dovecot reverses this behaviour,

Dovecot out of memory errors on Debian sid
hi I have dovecot (1.0.alpha4-1) installed on a Debian sid amd64 machine (dovecot-imapd and dovecot-common). I am using this so that I can use both Mutt and something like Thunderbird to access my local Maildir folders. Sometimes it works fine. Sometimes when I try to access my mailboxes locally using Mutt, it hangs for a very long time (the bottom of the screen says "Selecting in..."

Multiple Ethernet Cards: Ignoring one of them
Hello, I have recently had 'Broadband' (Cable) Internet installed in my house and I have setup the my Linux PC to do Network Address Translation for my Windows PC. This system has worked well with the PPP modem, and I know that a full Proxy server would be better, but at the moment I haven't got the time to set one up etc. This setup worked fine: Modem[ppp0

Newbie: fetchmail -> procmail -> IMAP (Dovecot) -> MUA?

A short description on how I did this can be found at my web page: http://www.sm6rpz.se/mailserver.html I use Fedora Core 2, but I do not think that will matter, it should work for SuSE also I think. Not using "." as separator?
When using maildir storage, is there any way to use something besides "." as the folder separator? I like to use folder names that match people's e-mail addresses (that's a default behavior in mutt), and "." is a pretty popular character in e-mail addresses. Ideally, I'd like to use "/". Is "." allowed in mailbox names when using mbox

Planning a dovecot deployment: issues and questions
Hi folks, I am currently evaluating Dovecot for deployment to ~200 software engineers (so, heavy email users); I'm hoping this list could provide wisdom about how best to do the configuration, evaluation and deployment, and what testing folks have done to determine whether dovecot is right for their site. Below I've listed the diffs between the dovecot-example.conf and our config.

Re: [users] CentOS 4.2 dag repo problem.
Hello, It would be nice if we could get a full list of packages which have a wrong sha1 checksum. I don't have the bandwidth for a full mirror of all of Dag's rpms and i also don't have shell access to such a mirror. So a small request for a mirror admin: The following checks the files repodata/*.xml.gz against the sha1 sums in repomd.xml and checks the RPMS/*.rpm files against

different legends in lattice panels
Hi listers, I want to make lattice plots xyplots with the indication of legends inside each panel with only the points and the lines actually ploted inside each given panel according to the group(ing) factor. The code below shows what I have achieved so far and I hope will make clear what I want to have. It seems to me that my solution is a very "dirty hack" and there certainly is

0.99.4 uploaded to Debian
Hi, I'm the Debian maintainer of UW-Imap. Like many I'm somewhat frustrated with the limitations of it so I am very pleased to see that Dovecot is becoming a strong alternative. I have uploaded packages of 0.99.4 to the Debian unstable distribution (sid). Because this is a new package it has to be added by hand so it may be a while before it shows up in sid. In the mean time, I have

IPFW disconnections and resets
Hi, I am using IPFW on FreeBSD 4.11 I am facing two problems: - SSH sessions timeout after a while - When I run "/sbin/ipfw -q -f flush" in the rules script all connection get reset (and I am thrown out of the box). Is this standard functioning of ipfw or do I need to change any configuration? Thanks, Siddhartha
