Mixing mbox and maildir
Is there some way to add a maildir folder to a mbox hierarchy? My folders
are all mbox, but I want to migrate some client-side mail from a client
(PMMail2000) that stores messages as individual files, and it might be
easiest just to dump all the files into a maildir directory with suitable
naming.

Migrating from mbox to maildir, which converter is compatible with dovecot
Hi,
I'm testing/debuging the migration from mbox to maildir in a mailserver
running Dovecot 1.0alpha5.
I migrated all 472715 emails(in a test server) and later noted that dovecot
could not get the same flags/status of the emails as in the mbox.
I was using perfect_maildir.pl and I think its not dovecot fault. Seems
to me that perfect_maildir.pl convert the emails in a way that dovecot
could

Newbie question: configuration for virtual users
Hi!
I'm looking forward to deploying dovecot as an IMAP server. I did some
research into the various options and it looks like dovecot is the right
daemon for me. I'll be using it with Exim.
I am running a few tens of users on my server, most of them small
numbers of people part of a small company, e.g. example.com.
At present I have exim delivering to mbox in each virtual user's

Advice on converting from Mbox to Maildir?
Does anyone have advice or pointers on good documentation on how to
convert a system from using the Mbox format to using Maildir?
I recently upgraded to Fedora Core 2 from Fedora Core 1 and discovered
that UW-IMAP was gone. So I switched over to using Dovecot. So far so
good.
But I would like to convert my system to start using the Maildir format.
How easy is this to accomplish?
Can I keep

Output of --list-only not as I expected for symlinks
My apologies. I'm evidently not communicating very well.
I am not asking for a list of what "needs to be transferred", I am
looking for a list of those things that are "candidates to transfer". In
other words, the source items minus exclusions/filters or anything else
that will be ignored (by rsync).
Is there any option for rsync that offers such a list?

Output of --list-only not as I expected for symlinks
Thank you. But I'm afraid I don't understand. The man entry reads:
"--list-only
This option will cause the source files to be listed instead of
transferred. This option is inferred if there is a single source arg and
no destination specified..."
It doesn't say anything about "list remote files". In fact I am not sure
why it would even contact the remote

convert non-standard mbox to maildir
Hi,
Let me start with wishing you all the best for this new year, and I hope
we'll see a lot of new features and not so much new bugs ;-)
I'm trying to convert a number of PSTs to maildir. Just plain drag&drop in
Outlook doesn't work (gives a very cryptic error message in a certain
folder, but that folder is perfectly all right), and using the import
option also barfs when

Hello all.
I appreciate the responses to my problem on v0.99.14. Thank you all.
We have built a new server running version 1.0-0_15.beta9.el4. The mail

batch convert mbox to maildir
Hello,
I have used mb2md for an individual user like this:
su ~username
cd ~
./mb2md -m
This converted /var/spool/mail/username mbox to
/home/users/username/Maildir just as I expected.
To convert 100s of users the same way would be a chore (su as each user
for permissions, etc.).
Is there a way to batch process all /var/spool/mail/$USER to
/home/users/$USER/Maildir with the correct

ISDN30 card for UK : sanity check
We will be connecting our Asterisk server to ISDN 30 and intend using
the Sangoma A101 card. The install location is in London (UK).
Sangoma card at Voipon
http://www.voipon.co.uk/sangoma-a101-pri-isdn-card-p-132.html?gclid=CI32vJz22I0CFQXklAodIgjHaA
I would be grateful to hear if this is the right choice of card. Usage
reports would be helpful.

Script to convert mboxes to maildirs?
Does anybody know of a script of a simple method of
converting mbox mail stores to maildirs? I'm moving
from an old pop3 system to imap and after installing
about half our office with mboxes have found that mbox
does not support subfolders which some people like to
use.
Is there any simple way of converting? I can go to
each individual account and "manually" convert swaping
data

Help with character columns in a table
I have done a read.table on a data file with the aim of extracting
subsets of the data eg
table[table$desc = 'result1',]
How can I convert $desc to a character type? At present it is seen by
typeof() as an integer.
How can I do the equivalent of
table[table$desc = 'result1' && table$amt > 20, ]
Thanks,

Hardware advice for 100 extensions, routing via ISDN
I would be grateful for some comments on our proposed machine specs for
a new Asterisk installation at a client with an initial 70 extensions.
The system should be able to handle 100 extensions. The system will have
the following main features:
- PSTN connection via ISDN 30, dealing with all incoming calls.
Outgoing will be through ISDN initially
- 70-100 Snom 300 handsets

IMAP Subdirectories
Hi
Using Apple Mail I cannot make subdirectories within new directories I have
made on a Debian Dovecot-driven IMAP server (version 0.99.11-3).
Some users, having used Exchange, expect to be able to do this. However
I can't make it happen, even after doing some tests by chmod-ing the
top-level directories to 777 and enabling the
mail_full_filesystem_access = yes
option on a test

Our configuration uses imap only, with maildir format mail storage.
Thanks

MAILDIR environment
from docs/mail-storages.txt:
"Also as a special case, if MAILDIR environment exists, maildir storage is used with the directory specified in it."
Forgive me if this seems obvious, but is this talking about setting MAILDIR as an enivornment variable? I have it set on my system in both /etc/profile and ~/.bash_profile:
MAILDIR=/path/to/maildir/
export MAILDIR
and have confirmed this
