1.0-test53 and 'Junk in start of group' messages
Hello.
I am using dovecot-1.0-test53 with Maildir mailstore, with pine 4.61 as
MUA.
I have several folders which cause error messages like 'Junk in start of
group' in Pine when I read them. I googled a bit for this, and found
that removing the index file should do the trick, but unfortunately, it
does not.
What can I do to make these annoying messages disappear ?
Thanks in advance.

Sorry :) The last fix I made a few minutes before test54 release didn't
turn out to be exactly correct.

[PATCH] passdb cache fixes
Hello,
attached patches fixes some bugs in passdb cache.
First patch fixes bug which causes passdb cache always return empty
scheme for cached passwords.
Second patch fixes dovecot-auth crash with passdb cache enabled.
I'm not sure that it is proper fix, though.
Best regards.

Locking strategy?
Hello!
I run the following environment:
UW imapd
pine
sendmail
procmail
mbox format
I migrated from UW imapd to dovecot. It is pretty faster than UW imapd.
To ensure a compatible environment I did the following configuration
changes in /etc/dovecot.conf:
protocols = imaps
default_mail_env = mbox:~:INBOX=/var/mail/%u
mail_full_filesystem_access = yes
mbox_read_locks = fcntl
mbox_write_locks

No 'from' in messages
Hi all,
Over the weekend, we've migrated our old mail environment to Sendmail and
Dovecot:
- Dovecot 1.0 stable
- Sendmail 8.13.3
- Procmail 3.22
Procmail is MDA for Sendmail and it delivers mail to Maildir boxes. Email
clients
like Eudora, Thunderbird, Outlook and mutt are working OK. When using Outlook
Express and Pine however, in the message list the 'from' or

Future enhancement of imap: sorting?
After solving a problem with a sweet little application I discovered (more
on that below), I wanted to get some feedback about a potential
enhancement for IMAP: standardized, MUA independant, server-side sorting.
Currently, there are two basic solutions for sorting: handle it during
delivery or handle it in the MUA. However, if you handle it in the MUA,
you lose some of the client

Procmail with Dovecot
Hey folks, here's a question. I want to enable procmail for the users so
that they can have their incoming messages sorted info various folders
and such regardless of MUA access or web access. I know I can set
procmail to deliver to a maildir, but wouldn't that screw up dovecot's
indexes? If it would, what can I do to ensure that the indexes stay correct?
Thanks!

Architectural questions
Greetings,
I have some architectural questions regarding dovecot, and though I've half
answered them by looking at the source, I'm also interested in hearing
whether my (our) wishes and suggestions are already being considered (or can
be considered, once built) for inclusion in dovecot itself.
Let me first explain why I'm doing this. I work for XS4ALL, a fairly large

Dovecot abort while selecting INBOX
Hello all,
Recently, I was setting up SpamAssassin and procmail on my system
(used to run Courier, and was converted using Courier convert
scripts). I was setting up a rule in PINE to filter all previously
marked SPAM messages into a folder, when I suddenly got disconnected
from the IMAP server. I attempted to reconnect, but any attempts to
access my INBOX would disconnect me.
I looked in

Procmail with Dovecot
No need for user shell access. Before switching to sieve, I made some
email interface where users could turn on 'services' by sending an email
to themselves.

Nested folders
I would like to have nested folders that users could create from their MUA.
The problem is that I cannot create sub folders either through the MUA or by
hand on the server side.
I can make folders that are not the subfolder of anything. I have an Inbox,
Mailing Lists, Spam, Trash, etc. But I cannot create subfolders of these. For
example, I would like a subfolder under Mailing Lists for each
