HVM - BIOS serial console redirection?
I realized this is probably better suited for the devel list.. basically, is there any way in the BOCHS bios to enable ''Serial Console Redirection'', where you see the BIOS contents over the serial line? Windows 2003''s ''Emergency Management Services'' console (which allows you to do installs and fix stuff over the serial line) requires this to

Include HVM support?
Could the packages be updated to include the HVM support files? I believe the necessary files are: ./usr/lib/xen/bin/qemu-dm ./usr/lib/xen/bin/qemu-dm.debug ./usr/lib/xen/boot/hvmloader These do add dependencies on x11, so it may be a good idea to split it into a separate package.. but it is needed for VT-based processors.

Sort of OT: Recommended USB handset for use with iaxComm?
One of my coworkers needs to get a softphone set up to my Asterisk system; he's a Linux user, so it looks like about the only IAX2 option is iaxComm. For ease of use (he'll be using this a fair bit), I'm recommending that he get a USB handset; I'm just having trouble finding any US retailers for them. :) Could someone recommend a USB handset that's compatible with iaxComm

libc6 packages that really support nosegneg?
I've tried the libc6-xen package posted at: http://people.debian.org/~aurel32/xen/ However, it looks like programs are still calling the libc6 libraries in /lib/tls, instead of the xen-enabled ones. Is there anything special I need to do to get this to work, or is the package just busted? Thanks! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ | nate carlson |

OT: Headset for Cisco 7960?
Sorry, I know it's OT, but does anyone know of a relatively inexpensive headset that is compatible with the Cisco 7960? I've tried the headset off Norstar phones, doesn't seem to work with or without the amp. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ | nate carlson | natecars@natecarlson.com | http://www.natecarlson.com | | depriving some poor

Semi-OT: Splitting a PRI into two PRI's?
Hey all, I've got a PRI used for data calls right now, terminated in a MAX 4000. We're only using around 12 channels on average and 16 max, so I'd like to split off the remaining channels to terminate in an Asterisk box. Does anyone know of a device that'll take a PRI in, and spit out two PRI's that share the channels? Also need to be able to do some sort of call routing so

Anti Ex-Girlfriend feature for entire area codes?
Hey all, Someone's posted one of my 800#'s on a poster in California for free concert tickets, so I'm getting calls from California AC's at all times of the day asking for tickets. I'm just using the 800# for friends and family, and don't know anyone in these area codes, so I'd like to just give these callers either congestion or a prerecorded message. Works fine

HVM: Emergency Management Services for W2K3 under Xen with HVM?
It''d be nice to be able to use the "Emergency Management Services" for Windows 2003 under Xen.. apparently, to use them, however, the BIOS has to support serial redirection. Is there any way to get the BOCHS bios to support serial redirection? I haven''t been able to find anything. Thanks! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ |

Building "Debianized" kernels with PAE support?
I've got a few 32-bit boxes with > 4gb of memory, that I'd like to get a Debianized kernel with PAE support built. How are the current Debian xen kernels built? I'd like to follow the same process (so I have a separate modules package and such) for the PAE kernel. Thanks! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ | nate carlson |

SVN #194: /etc/xen/qemu-ifup
Regarding change #194: " Add /etc/xen/qemu-ifup to the ioemu package, which Nate says is useful... Btw should that be into scripts? Should it be a config file at all?" This is required to set up hvm domains - it gets called to set up the network interface. It'd probably make more sense to put it in scripts, but I'm not sure where the config file is that controls where it

"Follow Me/FInd Me" functionality?
Hey all, Sorry for a bit of a newbie question here - I did search the wiki and a Google search, but I'm not sure what exactly to search for, so I didn't find much. I'd like to implement a "Find Me" system, where when a call comes into Asterisk, it will dial a number of phones, say something like "If you'd like to accept this call, press 1" when the phone

Getting a modem connection working via Asterisk
Hey all, I had pretty much figured that getting a modem connection working over the internet (via VoIP) wasn't really do-able. Last night, I was working on a friend's laptop, and needed to configure his dialup account; just to see what'd happen, I plugged it into my Vonage ATA-186, and much to my surprise, was able to get consistent 28,800 connections. Vonage just uses standard SIP

VMware multi-nic performance tech note
VMware''s published a paper on ESX vs. Xen (Enterprise) multi-nic performance: http://www.vmware.com/pdf/Multi-NIC_Performance.pdf Basically, it tests network performance from a Windows 2003 guest under Xen and VMware, and compares the results. Just curious if there''s any work in progress that would improve this? I''d also love to see the test repeated with a Linux

bogus file times in samba 3.5.4
Hi, I am seeing some very dodgy behavior from samba where the files times displayed to the client seem to have no basis in reality. In the example below The file was created on Oct. 5th but samba is saying the file time was way back on Sep. 30th. [root at tungsten KOSRCFLM]# ls -l 1321-538.dpn -rw-rw-r-- 1 resin resin 387 Oct 5 15:49 1321-538.dpn [root at tungsten KOSRCFLM]# stat 1321-538.dpn

Softick Card Export on Linux with Palm Tungsten E
Hello, I just installed Softick Card Export 2.19 (http://www.softick.com/cardexport2/) on my Palm Tungsten E. It is supposed to let me access the SD card inside my Palm without the need of an external SD card reader. This software is suppposed to be compatible with Linux usb-storage since version 2.15... but I didn't find how to use it. If I do "lsmod | grep -i usb", I see the

VT built in?
Hi Xen team, one short question before I grab the new machine of a colleague: did you build Xen3 for Sid with VMX (virtualization with the newer Vander...Pacifica)? Or will I have to build it myself? Sorry for the direct mail to this list, but I'm not subscribed to Debian-Users. Please CC me, as I'm also not subsribed here. Thx. kind regards, Wolfgang -- cheers,

[leaf-user] FW: CF Boot media creation
I downloaded DOS6.22 image from putergeek.com. Used fdisk from that floppy and format from that floppy. Still no luck. If I execute fdisk under leaf (monkeynoodle.org) as fdisk/dev/hdc, and give p for print partition table, I get the following: Disk /dev/hdc: 16 heads, 32 sectors, 123 cylinders. Units = cylinders of 512 * 512 bytes Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/hdc1
