Hi
dovecot-0.99.11-1.FC3.4.i386.rpm on FC3
when i create a user account with pop3 email i find that if i don't send and
email to the account (so that sendmail creates the file under
/var/spool/mail/testuser) where "testuser" is the users username. If the
user logs in with Outlook or Outlook express they get an error and maillog

Dovecot v2.3.4.1 Debian 10.3 mbox format - Error: chdir(/var/spool/mail/domain/user) failed: Not a directory
Hi colleagues,
I am trying to setup dovecot and have a strange problem. I configured it to:
#dovecot -n|grep ^mail
mail_gid = mail
mail_location = mbox:/var/spool/mail/%d/mailboxes/%n:INBOX=/var/spool/mail/%d/%n
mail_uid = mail
And also setup exim4 to use it. I sent a test message and observe a mailbox file /var/spool/mail/domain/user, containing this message. But when I try to access

Quota for Shared Folders
Good morning list,
first of all: dovecot works really great, the performance is
overwhelming (especially compared to courier), the configuration
flexible as hell, it is good documented - I love this software.
But as things get complicated, I think I need some additional help.
I'm using dovecot to replace the currently used courier-mailserver in a
shared hosting environment based on

[cups] /var/spool/samba or /var/spool/cups/tmp
Hello Family, (smd.conf file attached)
Having had great success with 2.2.2 and my Linux box and
Windows-2000 machines I switched to CUPS and now can't print again
having made some slight edits in my smb.conf file (attached) for the
change to CUPS.
[1] I have to reloaded all the Windows drivers again on the
Windows-2000 machines and still get the "Startdoc..." error.

share /var/spool/cups-pdf/SPOOL/?
Hi,
is there a way to set multiple selinux attributes to files/directories?
I would like to share /var/spool/cups-pdf/SPOOL/, which has
'system_u:object_r:print_spool_t:s0' and would also need
'system_u:object_r:samba_share_t:s0'.
The point is that there will be files accumulating that only need to be
deleted, and there might be files users may actually want access to.

Mbox spool; dovecot rewriting and rewriting and rewriting
Hi,
jaldhar recommended dovecot to me -
http://www.askbjoernhansen.com/archives/2003/04/07/000286.html ...
and so far it seems much nicer than the other imapds. yay.
I use the OS X Mail.app client. I tested it with a test account
with no problems, but trying to use it with my usual mail folders
(~1.3GB; 120MB in the inbox) it's not working at all.
It seems like dovecot keeps copying the

Control what messages go into /var/spool/mail/root
Hi,
I found some info messages below in /var/spool/mail/root.
To reduce the size of that file, I'm wondering if there's a way to prevent those unimportant messages from entering /var/spool/mail/root. Thanks.

Back to front logging for calls placed through /var/spool/asterisk/outgoing?
I've just noticed that if you start a call by writing a file to
/var/spool/asterisk/outgoing the cdr created on termination logs the call
placed to the local extension - not to the destination in the PSTN. Hence
there is no record of the PSTN number dialled. I guess most people want to
log the outgoing portion not the local call leg? Anyone know of a setting
that changes this?

Can't change permissions for /var/spool/postfix/dovecot.index.log
For some reason i can't change the permissions on /var/spool/postfix/
dovecot.index.log from postfix to dovecot, or anything else.
I changed all the files in /var/spool/postfix to be owner postfix so
that postfix wouldn't complain about insufficient priviledges.
I'm running MacOS X 10.4.7.
I can change it all I want, but the owner and group changes do not

How to specify /var/spool/mail/m/i/mike
I was wondering if somebody could tell me how I can tell dovecot (IMAP)
to read users' mail boxes at /var/spool/mail/{1st char}/{2nd
char}/username .
For example:
Mailbox for user 'mike' would be located at /var/spool/mail/m/i/mike
'karen' would be at /var/spool/mail/k/a/karen
etc...
Is this possible is version 1.1.6?
Please advise.
Thanks

question about /var/spool/mail/xxx
this is Redhat 6.3
I installed sendmail and dovecot.
but sendmail can continue send mail as MTA
all mails go to /var/spool/mail
this is problem for dovecot. dovecot cannot get it goto dovecot inbox.
if setup mailbox poing to /var/spool/mail/%u, it is workable
but if set up maildir to somewhere else ,I cannot receive mail by dovecot.
