Received Date vs Date Header
I am trying to figure out why my mail clients are not correctly showing
me the received date versus the date header date. I am using Dovecot
1.1B9. Here is a copy of the rawlog from Dovecot when I started up the
client. Is Dovecot supposed to be sending the received date and the
date header during this conversation?

dovecot-1.0-test27 crash on FETCH
Hello,
I've got a crash with -test27 on a FETCH, just after logging in. Attached
are the mailbox (1 message only), logs, sniffed session, testcase and core
dump backtrace. If the dovecot.conf is needed, just ask (it's pretty much
the default configuration).
Maybe this has just been fixed in -test28, in which case you can just
delete this email. :)
Btw, it's rather irrelevant, but

this is a pretty unspecific information. At which stage the message is
stuck and not delivered to Dovecot? Which MTA do you use and how is it
configurated? Or are the messages delivered to Dovecot and are spooled

Namespace subscription issue
I'm a little confused about how public namespaces work with
subscriptions. If I set subscriptions=no and subscribe to the folders,
the subscription entries go into the user's private subscription file
and that's fine. However, I am unable to pull their status with the
LIST-EXTENDED extension.
Normal listing works OK:

how to store flags \Seen into read-only mailbox?
Hi,
I'm trying to use dovecot for storing mailing lists and read-only access for users.
The OS is Solaris, authentication for all readers of these lists are from Ldap through PAM, and one local user "listuser" will receive all mail and store them into it's folders (Maildirs). These maildirs are readable (read-only) for all others and they are shared by setting

Dovecot 1.0-test77 endless loop hang
Client: Bynari Insight Connector 3.0.5. (http://www.bynari.net/)
This is an IMAP-based plugin for Outlook that can also store Outlook
collaboration objects (calendar, tasks, notes, etc.) in IMAP messages on the
server side. It does not require special server extensions, and it was
actually (mostly) working with 1.0-stable.
Below is a rawlog dump showing what is going back and forth. After

Retrieving unread message count
Timo,
I'm working with a webmail client that periodically polls unread message
counts for a list of folders. It currently does this by doing a LIST or LSUB
and then iterating across all of the folders, running a SEARCH ALL UNSEEN,
and counting the resulting UID list.
Eventually I'd like to see it using RFC5819 LIST-EXTENDED, but that requires
a fair bit of work. In the mean time I'm

issues/workarounds to build dovecot on OSX
hi all,
a few notes/issues re: building dovecot on OSX.
first, after DL of cvs-head,
% autogen.sh
reports:
autogen.sh: line 2: libtoolize: command not found
o OSX, 'libtoolize' has been sed'd to glibtoolize.
couple of ways to deal with this:
(a) edit in autogen.sh
aclocal
--- libtoolize --force
+++ glibtoolize --force
automake --add-missing
autoheader
autoconf

Saving Drafts with Roundcube marks old Mails in INBOX as unread.
Hello List,
I have a problem with the client Roundcube. Whenever I save a draft to the Folder INBOX.Drafts a old mail in my INBOX will be marked as unread.
Here are the IMAP Logs from Roundcube and Dovecot debug logs. I have no idea why it happens. The IMAP protocol looks normal to me but as you can see in the second to last line in the Dovecot log Dovecot is changing the flag of an old E-Mail

mailbox_list_index and maildir_very_dirty_syncs are in conflicts?
Hi,
I?m running Dovecot 2.2.19 with Maildir as storage and LDA for delivery.
I noticed that if I set mailbox_list_index=yes and
maildir_very_dirty_syncs=yes when I login via IMAP the STATUS command
don?t ?see? new messages in sub-folders (like Spam).
Example, a new message as arrived in Spam folder (I can see in
Maildir/new/) but IMAP STATUS don?t see it:

mdbox_deleted proper syntax
hello,
on the wiki, https://wiki2.dovecot.org/MailboxFormat/dbox, it says that one can
use either doveadm fetch or doveadm import, however I can find no correct syntax
with fetch that'll actually work. Is the idea to simply override the
mail_location with -o ? That seems to work for doveadm mailbox but not for
doveadm fetch or search

salted passwords
The idea of salted hash algorithms is to generate a different hash
even if the same text is entered. That can be easily seen with dovecotpw:
using NON-salted SHA256, same hash is generated for a given password

dovecotpw/sql crypt scheme core dump with rc17-19
Platform is Solaris 8 on a 280R.
I'm setting up a new installation of Dovecot, and I ran into some troubles
that I've partly tracked down.
I setup auth/user dbs with LDAP initially, and things worked well.
Passwords are stored as "{crypt}zxcv..." in LDAP.
I setup SQL, and began getting this:
dovecot: Jan 23 16:37:47 Error: child 8718 (auth-worker) killed with signal 11

./configure and /or Makefile problem
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

This is on OpenBSD 3.x.
I'll fully admit not being a savvy programmer and therefore unable to
suggest a decent resolution.
It seems that _something_ in either the main "configure" script or
one of the Makefile.in templates is causing the Makefiles in
src/auth and src/util to add two variables named "AUTH_CFLAGS" and

PHP implementation of dovecotpw passwords
I am looking for PHP functions that implement passwords that much the
dovecotpw implementation.
I downloaded one from PEAR, Crypt_HMAC, but the passwords it
generates look nothing like the dovecotpw passwords, which could be my
fault because I know nothing about the field.
Is there a guide or some library that implements them to match dovecotpw?

Hi, please apply the following patch to dovecotpw. Without this, it
