similar to: Advice on converting from Mbox to Maildir?

Is it possible to mix maildir and mbox formats with dovecot? For example, I would like ~/mail to be in maildir format yet keep the inbox (/var/mail/%u) in mbox format. If so, how may I go about this? Or am I stuck not being able to create subdirectories in ~/mail? Cheers, Shane

Aloha. The current CVS snapshot and 1.0-test14 will not build on Solaris 8 because it does not provide a sendfile() funtion. It just has sendfilev(). Solaris 9 has sendfile(), though. Is dovecot still considered unreliable when combined with NFS? Is this true for mbox only, or Maildir as well?
