dovecot and vmailmgr
hello now that dovecot supports authentication with checkpassword-compatible modules, I tried to get it working for IMAP on a qmail + vmailmgr server. For a subtle detail, while claiming to be "a drop-in replacement for the standard checkpassword", checkvpw (auth module for vmailmgr) is not "drop in". It actually expects 2 args on its command line, not 1. So, a wrapper

dovecot and vmailmgr/qmail mailboxes
Hello folks, Time ago I worked on a patch for dovecot to work with vmailmgr http://mij.oltrelinux.com/net/dovecot-qmail-vmailmgr/ The patch was required because, despite vmailmgr complies with the checkpassword interface supported by dovecot, dovecot snips the mailbox directory returned by the authentication module at colon characters ':'. Incidentally, vmailmgr maps any

dovecot checkpassword passdb and vmailmgr
hello some times ago I posted some patches to workaround vmailmgr not fitting into dovecot's passdb-checkpassword authentication module. Yesterday I spent some spare time for carrying out a cleaner solution for this problem. Check out these patches. If you're not interested in merging them, I will make them available at the same page I used for the former solution [

my future with dovecot (?any recipe?)
Hallo I am very impressed from this howto's: 1) Postfix-Cyrus-Web-cyradm-HOWTO (mysql) http://www.delouw.ch/linux/postfix.phtml 2) Pop-Toaster using Qmail-Vmailmgr-Courier-SquirrelMail http://qvcs-guide.sourceforge.net/ (this work for me) I hope to build anything like above, but with Dovecot: [Postfix-tls-smtpauth-Dovecot-Mailadmin*-MySQL-SquirrelMail-https] Postgresql is ok for

Testing against 1.8.4
So apparently 1.8.4 is soon forthcoming. We need testing against it. Could someone help out with that? I believe Ara already checked into some of the issues, do you know if those are resolved, Ara? -- David Heinemeier Hansson http://www.loudthinking.com -- Broadcasting Brain http://www.basecamphq.com -- Online project management http://www.backpackit.com -- Personal information manager

LDAP Memory Leak
Hi Timo I use LDAP auth on a system with around 2000 email account. I use dual OpenLDAP servers. I haven't noticed a leak of memory. Is there any more information and I will have a look to see if I can see anything that might help. Is it only affecting certain machines or all? Rails 1.1.1: Fixing a slew of minors (but you must still freeze Typo)
Rails 1.1 was a big upgrade with a lot of new features and we''ve been working hard since its release to polish off the kinks revealed after it was deployed to the masses. Rails 1.1.1 contains fixes for things like Prototype memory leaks in IE 6, Oracle adapter runnings, and a number of compatibility tweaks to make most older applications work. This release still doesn''t work

Frequency range carried by speex
I've looked around and not found details on the expected frequency range the Speex codec can be expected to carry. Is there any documentation available or a table of some sort that has been compiled which would give an indication of the frequency range based on the various compression options in speex? My Rails Day entry: internet command line
Well, my entry for the 24-hour Rails Day competition is here: http://yubnub.org . It''s a web app called YubNub that implements the grandiose idea of a "command line for the Web OS". Type "gim porsche 911" to do a Google Image search for Porsche 911 cars. Type "random 1000" for a random number between 1 and 1000. Type "tts David Heinemeier Hansson is

Rails 1.1.6: Stronger fix, backports, and full disclosure
The cat is out of the bag, so here''s the full disclosure edition of the current security vulnerability. With Rails 1.1.0 through 1.1.5 (minus the short-lived 1.1.3), you can trigger the evaluation of Ruby code through the URL because of a bug in the routing code of Rails. This means that you can essentially take down a Rails process by starting something like /script/profiler, as the code

[LLVMdev] CommandLine: using cl::Positional with enum
Hi,I've been trying to code through CommandLine the options I want my tool accepts, but I find quite impossible to achieve robustly what I need .Look, I want the tool accepts a list of arguments in a particular order. For this goal, I know the cl::Positional flag. But, the problem is that the first argument must be one of a set of options (like a kind of subcommand of the tool). In my case,

Rails 0.12.1: No major update without a bit of pain
There''s nothing like pushing a new major update in order to find bugs in the code when its exposed to a couple of hundred working applications. Thankfully the fixes were almost as swift as the reports. In any case, you''ll _definitely_ want to upgrade to 0.12.1 right away. There''s a good handful of fixes for both Action Pack and Active Record (mostly concerning the

lmer question
Hi -- I'm using lmer for binomial data. I am trying to replicate estimates provided by Agresti (2002, Categorical data analysis, Wiley) using abortion data in table 10.13 (estimates provided in table 12.3 p. 505). I fit the same model using these three commands: a1 <- lmer(resp ~ sex + option1 + option2 + (1|id), data=abort, family=binomial, method = c("AGQ")) a2 <-

Rails 1.1.5: Mandatory security patch (and other tidbits)
We''re still hard at work on Rails 1.2, which features all the new dandy REST stuff and more, but a serious security concern has come to our attention that needed to be addressed sooner than the release of 1.2 would allow. So here''s Rails 1.1.5! This is a MANDATORY upgrade for anyone not running on a very recent edge (which isn''t affected by this). If you have a public
