problems with squirrelmail and TLS (debian unstable)
Heylas,
So, okay, I've had this lovely IMAP server running, and adore the ease
of configuration, among other things. Problem, though.
I'm trying to set up SquirrelMail, so that some folks with accounts on
my box can use it without having to set up a proper imap client (or can
check mail when they're at a cafe, or like that). However, I *won't*
turn off the

Problem with Eudora
I'm trying to get Dovecot (dovecot-0.99.10-6) to work with Eudora (6.0
mac/win) and am having a real problem when I try to enable SSL, either
TLS or alternate-port SSL.
Although my other mail clients, mail.app, imp, etc. work just fine,
either version of Eudora craps out when trying to connect via TLS or SSL
-- on the mac I get the error
Could not get mailbox list.

Help, problems with permissions
Hi
I am replacing my current mail system, using Exim/Postgres/WU-IMAP to
another host using Dovecot.
Everything has gone well, until I have tried to access some test mails
via POP.
The error message I am getting is

Line length limitation in dovecot leads to out-of-control process?
Heylas!
I've been copying mailboxes from one dovecot server (on an alpha running
debian testing, 0.99.10-9) to another (on an i686 running debian
unstable, 0.99.10-9). I encountered a weird problem, which I seem to
have resolved by moving a message with a To: line from hell out of the
mailbox. Both machines are running maildir. They're not exactly
identical, but they're fairly

debian 0.99.8.1 packages available
I thought I'd mention it here because a lot of people have been waiting
for me on this. My personal situation is getting saner now so I finally
was able to package up 0.99.8.1. The package for sid was uploaded last
night and should appear in the archive today. A backport for woody is
available from http://www.braincells.com/open/
I have not included POP3, LDAP or SASL2 support for now as I

My dovecot works fine against Active Directory 2003, but not against AD2008
Hello,
my dovecot installation has been working fine against AD till we upgrade
from AD 2003 to AD 2008. As http://wiki2.dovecot.org/AuthDatabase/LDAP
said, now I'm not able to connect AD through 389 port. The port 3268
works fine though.

My dovecot works fine against Active Directory 2003, but not against AD2008
Fran and/or Matthias,
Could you publish your doveconf -n? I can't get dovecot to authenticate with my
AD. Maybe you have a solution I could try.
What mail client(s) are you using? I assume by "AD 2003/8" You mean SBS2003/8
and are therefore using Outlook?

Some experiences
Heyas ...
I'm trying to use dovecot to set up a 'closed server' (actually, mixed) sort of environment, for a box to be deployed co-located. I wanted to talk about some of that, and see if some of my experience qualifies as 'bug'.
Note that I'm notoriously verbose, so if that bothers you, read no further ....
Since it's a more-or-less closed server, I didn't want

Autocomplete for phrases
Hi all.
We are trying to use Xapian to index the titles of around ten million
documents (music catalogue) and then do auto-complete style search on
this index. After poking around we can't quite get the combination of
QueryParser flags and search query that will give back the results we
want. The closest we have can take a very long time (because it is
searching for, and building a list of,

Configuring pigeonhole/sieve
I've been trying for a few days to get pigeonhole/sieve working
in order to filter email with spamassassin.
Unfortunately I have had no success;
and I have found no document which simply tells me
what changes I need to make to which files,
and what other action I have to take.
I'm running CentOS-7 on my home-server, and have postfix + dovecot
working perfectly; moreover spam is marked

removing html via dovecot/sieve
is there a howto or similar for configuring dovecot as a user to strip mime.
ideally i would like all html copies deleted,
but graphics, etc dumped to ~/public_html and replaced with a url.
i have a super crappy link so html, etc usually jams my spool.
i can usually wget things however hence this desired approach.
bonz.

Mail Server
Hi,
I need to setup a new mail server and before I got my feet wet or losing in the configurations jungle, I really need some advice from the gurus here for what the best software to used for the mailserver base on CentOS 4.x setup.
The objective is, the mailserver will be easy to setup, maintained and have some
1. database backend for storing user info ( mysql? )
2. spam and antivirus

Off-site cloud backup (eg Amazon S3, Wasabi)
I?d like to synchronise our mail store to an Amazon S3 bucket or similar, for protection from ransomware.
Server is running on macOS with maildir.
Should I use a Dovecot process, rsync, a Mac app like Arq or Jungle Disk, or something else?
Anyone have experience or opinions on this?
Thanks,
James.

Re-reading config file not working?
I sent this before but I figured I'd send it again since my current
method is rather kludgey...
Whenever I try to send a HUP to icecast it always fails when re-reading
the config file:
EROR event/event_config_read Error parsing config, not replacing existing config
However I know the config is good because the server starts up without
any issues (right now I've had to resort to just

Histogram and Density on the the same graph
Dear all,
I cannot find a function which would allow drawing hist and density on the
same graph.
x <- seq(1,40,1)
y <- 2*x+1+5*rnorm(length(x))
hist(y,freq = FALSE)
plot(density(y))
thanks a lot for the help

Bug#175509: dovecot: init.d script should add some syslog statements on startup/shutdown (fwd)
[Amelia and Timo. As you are both on the dovecot list, I'm replying
there to avoid cluttering up your inboxes.]
This bug was reported to Debian but I feel it should be fixed upstream.
Adding logging in th init script itself would require adding additional
dependencies to the package and not be as convenient.
