Requested xxxx scheme, but we have a NULL password after upgrade
I'm having an issue I can't seem to work around after upgrading from Dovecot 1.0.7 to 1.2.17. After getting Dovecot 1.07 working on CentOS 5.9, I decided that it might be wise to upgrade to a later version, so I stuck with 1.x and went with 1.2.17, which I had to compile from source. CentOS was originally using /etc as the starting path for Dovecot files but the source distribution puts

At the moment I have (dovecot -n): # 1.1.beta2: /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf base_dir: /var/run/dovecot/ protocols: imap imaps pop3 pop3s ssl_disable: yes disable_plaintext_auth: no login_dir: /var/run/dovecot//login

Differences between IPv4 and IPv6 authentication
Hi, I have Dovecot listening on both IPv4 and IPv6, and can connect on both interfaces, but cannot authenticate over IPv6, using exactly the same credentials as IPv4. I assumed that the same authentication mechanisms would be used, regardless of the protocol being used - are there differences somewhere? For example: ~$ telnet server1.teststable.simplyspamfree.com 143 Trying

libvirtd does not update VM .xml configuration on filesystem after virsh blockcommit
Hi, Recently We've upgraded some KVM hosts from Fedora 29 to Fedora 30 and now experience broken VM configurations on filesystem after virsh blockcommit. Commands "virsh dumpxml ..." and "virsh dumpxml --inactive ..." is showing diffrent configuration than the one on filesystem. In case of restart libvirtd or system reboot, there are broken VM xml configurations on

SAMBA PROBLEM ON LINUX
Guys, I don't know if this is the right place to ask this question but I am using Redhat 6.2 Linux and Samba 2.2.1a. We have Windows NT Workstations and 2000 servers with which we need to talk to. (Note: Can't upgrade to Redhat 7.2 or Samba 2.2.2 due to company requirements at least for a few more months.) I have a problem with a user who is trying to write to a folder called

Samba SSSD Integration
Was hoping for a helping hand. Trying to set up Samba on a domain member server. The member server was previously joined to the kerberized domain using realm join and a system keytab file exists in the /etc. Subsequently I added samba along with winbind not being entirely sure if the latter was needed. This is a Redhat 7.4 server. My smb.conf appears as follows. [global] password server = *

samba 3.0.7 and os/2
Hello, samba v3.0.7 on suse linux v9.1 os/2 v4.x I have started the process of replacing our os/2 hosts with linux, starting with the server(s). Most of the problems have been firewall related, a topic only briefly discussed in the docs (nudge). Some of the hosts can now interact with the linux samba shares; not all though. I have run ip traces and have gotten to a point that is a

unable to log on to Samba shares remotely
Dear, I have a working Samba 3.5.6 running on one of my servers onto which (existing) users can successfully log on. Recently, I needed to add some projects and some users but I cannot succeed in letting these new users access the shares. The smb.conf file is very small and I had only 4 users until now. In the following smb.conf, projA_dirs is only accessed by user1, while projB_dirs is the new

Question about file ownership on destination
Hello Regarding ownership on the destination: rsync's man page indicates that when synchronizing files to a remote host, -o implies the --numeric-ids option, which makes perfect sense aince the named users/groups may not exist on the destination host. The problem I have is that the files created on the destination still appear to be owned by the local user (server1) on the rsync

Samba AD - two servers - backup and restore AD procedure
Hi All! I would be grateful for clarification of my doubts about backups and restoration of the AD environment. What is the best strategy for backing up and restoring a Samba AD domain in the following scenarios: * server1 - active directory service (7 FSMO roles) * server2 - active directory service + Samba file server The considered disaster recovery scenarios are: - Corruption of the AD

Failing Hard Disk?
Hi All, I am fairly certain that this disk is failing in my server, and I am replacing it straight away anyway. However, I'd appreciate the views of the list just to be sure as I value your opinion(s). I got these errors, once only so far, in /var/log/messages. This disk has / on it.
