how to move forward/undo/revert/fix re: a failed CentOS 5.5 to SL 5.5 migration ...
For various reasons which seemingly fail the necessary/sufficient
tests with the benefit of hindsight, I attempted to migrate a shell
machine which is the beach front from which I work (not a production
server) from CentOS 5.5 to Scientific Linux 5.5 yesterday.
Karanbir is quoted on this list as having said something like:

Network down when upgrade to xen 4.0.1 on centOS 5.5
Hello,
We have default xen 3.1.2 on centOS 5.5. We now want to upgrade xen 3.1.2 to
xen 4.0.1 while using the existing dom0 kernel (2.6.18). I followed the
instructions on http://wiki.xensource.com/xenwiki/Xen4.0

SELinux : semodule_package, magic number does not match
Hello,
I am trying to create a custom policy, but with no succes :
$ cat <<EOF> foo.te

new kernel = no working sound
After updating my laptop ( compaq 6820s) to Centos 5.6 the sound is gone.
The sound card is still detected but there is no sound from speaker
Vendor: Intel Corporation
Model: 82810H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller
Module: snd-hda-intel
On the same updated laptop the sound is working fine with an older
kernel ( 2.6.18-194.32.1.el5.centos.plus )
I tried with no success ( sound related )

I'm doing an update on a machine that does have VMs running on it, and I
see a number of complaints to the effect of

new memory not getting regonized
dear All,
I had a Centos 5.5 OS running for about 6 months used as a Xen VM server
prfectly running 3 Virtual machines
Its a Sun Blade server with 8 core Xeon Proceesor with 32 GB Ram
couple of days back I added another 32 gb ram .
The bios shows the added ram that is now it shows me 64 GB but the Centos
OS just recognizes 32gb only
the OS details are:

Time lagging on DomU
Hi,
on one of our systems I see that while the time on the Centos 5.4 Host is
correct it lags behind on two of the 5.5 guests by almost 5 minutes but is
correct for the third domU. From what I understand the clock of the system
is controlled by the host and and guest cannot write to it (and because of
that not change it). Does anyone now what the cause could be and how I can
fix the time for
