Update sandbox to allow afalg
It's been a long time since I last poked at Linux on my Segate GoFlex Net,
a Marvell Kirkwood armel platform. Kirkwoods have hardware crypto support
for AES, and I tried setting it up on a fresh Debian Testing install like I
used to back in the day and... no joy, with afalg enabled in OpenSSL I
could not complete ssh sessions in or out.
After some digging and reading I see this has been the

Tyan Thunder K8SE S2892 Report
I had my eye on the Tyan dual-Opteron mobos for awhile. I tried to find
a posting *anywhere* sharing experiences with these boards under Linux.
No such luck. So placing myself under the heading "Where Angles Fear to
Tread," I went ahead and built a system anyway. Here's what I've learned.
The specs:

I have read where an "fsck -c -c /dev/hda" may be what I need.
Before I go doing such things I am looking for confirmation that
that is what I should do. Anyone please comment on how to
tell linux to not use sectors in my disk. This is stright IDE no
raid not nothing at this point /dev/hda is all.
Thanks,

will syslinux work on a harddisk ?
Can someone tell me if syslinux will work on a harddisk ?
I have a 4mb flash device that plugs into the IDE connector
on the motherboard, and i'm trying to get syslinux to work
with it, so I can load a Linux kernel and an initrd.
I'm not having any luck with it.
Then it dawned on me that the boot loader in syslinux might
be expecting a floppy drive rather than an atapi hard disk.

CentOS 6.4 doesn't work with SAMSUNG MP0402H USB harddisk, but CentOS 5.6 does
I want to make a live USB from live CD.
CentOS 6.4 live CD doesn't work. Can not find root when initrd0 booting. It appears initrd0 can not find the USB harddisk - SAMSUNG MP0402H.
But CentOS 5.6 live CD works fine.
What can I do?
Thanks.

External harddisk
Since you have taken the disk apart it will now be useless as within the
enclosure there could have been a vacuum or an inert gas.
You will never be able to recover any data on the disk unless you go and pay
for a professional data recovery organisation to read the platters.
The price for a replacement 340GByte USB disk is about $25 which would give
you a better product than your old disk.

Calculate Index size for harddisk sizing
I need to get a hand on the 'usual size of an index' to do some hard disk
sizing. Is that possible at all? I know their size depends a lot on what the
clients index.
Those clients will mostly be Outlook and Thunderbird and they will be doing
more POP than IMAP if that helps to bring it down to some estimation.

harddisk offline frequently when running vm
without starting vm, we did decompression stress test. harddisk
offline did not happen.
when some vms are running, we did decompression stress test. harddisk
offline happened frequently.
We suspect that system interruption loss causes the problem.
did anybody meet this problem? or have an idea?
