integrate function - error -integration not occurring with last few rows
Hi, I am using the integrate function in some simulations in R (tried ver 2.12 and 2.15). The problem I have is that the last few rows do not integrate correctly. I have pasted the code I used. The column named "integral" shows the output from the integrate function. The last few rows have no integration results. I tried increasing the doses, number of subjects, etc.... this error occurs

Testing workers
Could someone help me with some information on how to handle functional tests that rely on Backgroundrb? I didn''t find anything on the Backgroundrb website not on a couple of Google searches. Links would be fine. I keep getting the following error in my functional tests: "Error while connecting to the backgroundrb server" Thanks Andrew Timberlake andrew at

heres how to get color output in rspec_autotest with rspec 0.7.5
In case anyone else is trying to make this work, here is what I did (Before 0.7.4 I had patched the regex in zentest redgreen, but that is not used any more) To use directly, it is very simple. In rspec_autotest/lib/ rspec_autotest.rb, add a -c to the spec_command in the initializer function: @spec_command = "spec -c --diff unified" This won''t help however if you want

Creating Methods in the Model?
Hey Everyone. First day diving in to ROR and Ruby... My question is how do you define methods with in the model class and/or should I even be doing this? It is my understanding that you should put as much of the business logic into the model as possible. I want to do some data manipulation before I things are submitted to the database IE (Create a variable out of two submitted via form, as

Why has the --color gone from my life?
Hi all, Running on OSX 10.5.3, Latest Rspec trunk, Rspec rails trunk, latest autotest gem and rails 2.1 I''ve lost my colour output in autotest. rake spec gives colour output, but autotest gives me black and white. It was working a little bit before, I think I upgraded to the latest versions of everything to get all the textmate snippets talking and being friendly to one another again

No command 'rspec' found
I installed rspec on Linux Ubuntu 10.04, but no command ''rspec'' is found. Perhaps the PATH is wrong. What is the correct search path? The following was copied from my terminal. Thank you for taking a look: ~$ sudo gem install rspec --version 2.0.0 ~$ gem list --local *** LOCAL GEMS *** rspec (2.0.0) ~$ ls /var/lib/gems/1.8/gems rspec-2.0.0 ~$ printenv PATH

displaying a note or comment when --format doc
I''m new to rspec, so, I might be coloring outside the lines, but, there have been several instances where I have wanted to display a comment or note. for example: describe "truck" do it "should require model" do end end rspec spec --format doc truck should require model What I mean by display a comment or note would be like: truck NOTE: blah, blah,

rspec2 observations
Just a few observations now that I have completed the upgrade from RSpec-1 to RSpec-2. 1. In my project (2800 examples across about 40 files), MRI 1.9.2-p0 takes roughly 3 times longer to complete the spec run. Runtimes grew from 2.2s (rspec 1.3.0) to 6.1s (2.0.0.rc). 2. Rubinius 1.1.0 runs RSpec-2 without error. 3. JRuby 1.5.1 runs RSpec-2 without error. 4. Both Rubinius and JRuby print a

patch for html display
All, I''ve found that the html view for the rspec formatter falls to pieces with Rails 2.02 and rspec 1.10. Has anyone else run into this trouble? Here''s a monkey patch that fixes the problem. A more elegant fix would be in order, but this gets the job done: Index: /Users/timcharper/www/exchange/vendor/plugins/rspec/lib/spec/runner/formatter/text_mate_formatter.rb

Rails 3, Rspec 2, Autotest
Trying to set up a Rails 3 project with RSpec and Autotest. I followed these steps exactly: http://gist.github.com/365816 But when I start up autotest, I get: $ autotest loading autotest/rails style: Rails instead of: $ autotest loading autotest/rails_rspec2 style: RailsRspec2 And autotest doesn''t seem to do anything. Any idea what''s happening? I''m using Ruby

Is there a good package for multiple imputation of missing values in R?
I'm looking for a package that has a start-of-the-art method of imputation of missing values in a data frame with both continuous and factor columns. I've found transcan() in 'Hmisc', which appears to be possibly suited to my needs, but I haven't been able to figure out how to get a new data frame with the imputed values replaced (I don't have Herrell's book). Any

Testing for particular CSS (i.e. display: none)
I have a page that hides elements using CSS display: none. I don''t expect RSpec to test any changes made by Javascript; I just want to test how the page loads initially: what is visible and what is not. Can I test this in RSpec? Or do I need to use something like Selenium? -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

Survival statistics--displaying multiple plots
Hello all! I am once again analyzing patient survival data with chronic liver disease. The severity of the liver disease is given by a number which is continuously variable. I have referred to this number as "meld"--model for end stage liver disease--which is the result of a mathematical calculation on underlying laboratory values. So, for example, I can generate a Kaplan-Meier plot
