Problem connecting a USB modem.
Hi I'm trying to connect a USB CDMA modem (z010) to a CentOS 4.1 (kernel 2.6.9-11.EL) and I can't talk to the modem. I tried the same modem under Fedora Core 1 (2.4.22-1.2199.nptl) and it works like a charm. The only difference is /dev/ttyACM0 for CentOS and /dev/input/ttyACM0 for the Fedora. Any help would be appreciated. Tank's. Fernando Lan?a Some debug info: CentOS:

using pam_winbind to authenticate PPP?
I'm trying to set up a Linux-based dialin server on our company network. I'd like to have PPP authenticate using winbindd, if possible. I feel like I've almost gotten it to work, but I can't quite get there. Files: /etc/pam.d/ppp: #%PAM-1.0 auth required pam_nologin.so auth sufficient /lib/security/pam_winbind.so account required

mysterious weekly shutdown
I have a Centos 5.4 machine that has, for the past two weeks, apparently been shut off over the weekend. It's just sitting there turned off on Monday morning and when someone hits the power switch it comes right back on and everything works again. This happened last weekend, and again over this past weekend. Here is /var/log/messages from shortly before it apparently shut down this weekend.

Can't recieve Fax: No carrier detected - Asterisk + iaxmodem + Hylafax
I'm able to recieve fax with pure SpanDSP 0.0.2 + Asterisk successfully but I have problems with some fax machine so I wanted to try using HylaFax to recieve Fax instead of SpanDSP hoping that it'll solve my problem. I'm trying to connect Asterisk with SpanDSP using iaxmodem. My system looks like this: ISDN <---> Asterisk <---> IAXModem <---> Hylafax Asterisk

overlaid filled contour plots
I'm trying to make a set of contour plots of bivariate kernel density estimates, showing three such plots overlaid, similar to this plot http://euclid.psych.yorku.ca/SCS/Private/Test/ridge-boot2.pdf except that I would like to have the contours *filled* (using transparent colors). To make this reproducible, I've saved the results of KernSmooth::bkde2D() in the following file:

setting up incoming PPP on centos 4.4
hi gang! I'm interested in setting up incoming PPP on a system at work that has a fresh (not upgrade) Centos 4.4 on it. All the documentation I've found for that shows using mgetty to do it, and seems pretty straightforward. However, that machine doesn't have a binary named mgetty anywhere. It does have a mgetty-sendfax RPM installed, but it does not provide a binary named mgetty.

T1 - A little guidance needed to get started, What order to do zaptel, zapata...
I have about a dozen SIP phones up and working, now I want to connect the asterisk box to our Fujitsu 9600 PBX. I currently have two dial-up servers conencted to the Fujitsu PBX that I built with mgetty/pppd and have the lines provisioned the same way as those dial-up server, ESF, B8ZS, and E&M wink start, so I have confidence in the guys who set up the PBX. I've built a loop back plug

USB Serial ports (ttyACMn) CentOS 6.7 (64-bit) vs. CentOS 6.7 (64-bit)
I sent this out about a week or so ago, but I have heard nothing. I am *thinking* it is a SELINUX problem, but I cannot figure out what. The SELINUX settings for both machines are *exactly* the same (the stock defaults for a standard CentOS 6 install). The *only* difference is that the desktop (sauron) has a few VMs setup (under KVM) and the laptop (gollum) does not. The desktop has an AMD

I have not yet found a USB-to-serial adapter detected as /dev/ttyACM1. Mgetty for out of band management - which modem?
Hi, We're thinking of using Mgetty and a modem to allow us some out of band management access to sites if the ADSL connection fails... Just wondered if anyone had a recommended USB modem they've used on Centos/Mgetty as Hayes compatible serial modems seem to be quite rare these days?

Samsung M800
I have a Samsung M800 phone that I had (wrongly) assumed would show up as a USB drive on Linux so I can transfer files to it and so on. Instead, it appears to present itself as a modem. Is there any way to make it appear as a usb drive?
