Am having trouble calling a function
In my main R program, I have
source("retaanalysis/Functions/doAirport.R")
.... stuff to read data and calculate ads
sapply(ads, function(x) {doAirport(x, base)} )
And doAirport has
# analyze the flights for a given airport
doAirport = function(df, base) {
# Get rid of unused runway factor levels (from other airports)
df$lrw <- drop.levels(df$lrw) # In gdata package

data transformation using gamma
Hi R-users,
I have this code to uniformise the data using gamma:
> length(dp1)
[1] 696
> dim(dp1)
[1] 58 12
> dim(ahall)
[1] 1 12
> dim(bhall)
[1] 1 12

+ trans <- vector(mode='numeric', length=n2)
+ dim(trans) <- dim(dt)

theora-mmx_on_win32?
Hi. Has anyone tried http://svn.xiph.org/branches/theora-mmx this code on Win32 ?
I can compile it with very small modification,

< ogg_int16_t *const temp= (ogg_int16_t*)align_tmp;
---
> ogg_int16_t *const temp= (int16_t*)align_tmp;
but outputs seem terribly broken. -> ex. http://mycomputer.cc/temp/mmx-out.ogg
GCC version is 3.4.2.
$ gcc --version

UK Encryption ban legislation {from: [comp.risks] RISKS DIGEST 18.95}
I think this is an issue of serious interest to many of the subscribers
of these lists; it would effectively ban a lot of security-related tools
that many of use now find indispensable, e.g. ssh, pgp.

Ok. It was already that way.
root at fileserver:/etc/samba# getent group
...
domain admins:x:10004:
domain users:x:10000:
dap:x:10003:
dti:x:10001:
For some reason with the administrator user is not working, I put my user
as domain admin and include him as a member of unix and now I can access
the security tab.

[Posible SPAM] Re: Stopwords: Topic modelling con LDA
Hola,

Errore : requires numeric/complex matrix/vector arguments
Dear R users,I'm a new user of R. I'm trying to do a LM test an there is this type of error: Error in t(mX) %*% mX : requires numeric/complex matrix/vector arguments.
To be clear I write down the code in which mY ( 126,1 ) mX (126,1) mZ(126,1) are matrix.
LMTEST <- function(mY, mX, mZ)#mY, mX, mZ must be matrices!#returns the LM test statistic and the degree of freedom{iT =

Understanding boost ?
Hi,
I''m confused about managing field boosting ...
I have set the :boost for the :name field in my docs to 10, via :boost
=> 10
Then I performed a search for ''keith'' over all fields via with
*:(keith*), expecting a doc with Keith in the :name field to come out on
top. But another doc with Keith mentioned in other fields (:comments,
:address) scored higher.

Stopwords: Topic modelling con LDA
Buenos días,
Estoy realizando un análisis de topic models con el método LDA. En
principio, he quitado del análisis las palabras "stopwords" universales. A
la hora de ver los topics y sus palabras más frecuentes encuentro que son
muy similares y hay palabras que aparecen en todos los topics. Los textos
que estoy analizando son opiniones de consumidores sobre una categoría

Introduction and Doubts
Tf-idf is most used used weighting scheme is easy to understand and has
been used in other frameworks like lucene and many other places.
okapi bm25(implemented in xapian) is theoretically better/improved measure
than tf-idf and
i am looking into various other weighting scheme which are there in xapian
or can be implemented like TF-ICF(term frequecy inverse corpus
frequency),TF-RF(term

Implementing tf-idf weighting scheme in Xapian
Hello guys.I just read up about tf-idf schemes and want to implement it in
Xapian (with some frequently used normalizations) as it will also give me a
good hang of implementing a weighting scheme before I start working on
implementing DFR schemes.
I read the following as references and I think Ive understood it well and
can write the hack :-

Two problems with Samba in AD realm
Hello list.
I recently moved to an AD environment. I'm still keeping a samba servers
to make my cups-managed printers available to windows users, rather than
duplicating configuration with a Windows print service. But I'm facing
two problems, probably due to the way we manage AD.
First, all my host belong to a Unix-managed DNS domain
(msr-inria.inria.fr), not to the windows-managed

GSoc 2017 Introduction(Weighting Schemes)
Hello Everyone,
I am a second year graduate student at IIIT-Bangalore and my interest is in
the field of Information Retrieval. I have successfully compiled Xapian
from source and have implemented some examples. While going through the
project list Weighting Schemes project is the one I was looking to
contribute to. So i went through the xapian-core/weight where most of the
schemes are already

pmvt problem in multcomp
Hi, all:
Two examples are shown below.
I want to use the multiple comparison of Dunnett.
It succeeded in upper case "example 1".
However, the lower case "example 2" went wrong.
In "example 2", the function pmvt return NaN, so I cannot show
this simtest result. Is there any solution?
(I changed the variable "maxpts" to a large number in front of

GSoC 2016 - Introduction
Hello,
Thanks James for the reply. That cleared a few things out. Apologies for
replying late because of exams going on.
I was going through the previous clustering API to understand how it worked
and it seems like the the approach for construction of the termlists which
are used for distance metrics use TF-IDF weighting with cosine similarity,
which is very similar to the approach I would need
