Deleting Rows based on Factor and Time Period
Hi All!
I have been messing around with this problem for about a week but to no
avail! The following data has been cut down in order to make my question
reproducible. The alldat data frame includes 2 columns: 1 date column and 1
factor column (equity names)).

Oddity: I seem to have a variable in a dataframe that doesn't show in colnames() - can anyone advise?
I may be being dopey, I surely am, but I'm baffled by this. I've been
working, on and off for a few days in R version 2.13.0 (2011-04-13)
i386-pc-mingw32/i386 (32-bit) working it through ESS.
I've got a dataframe created a couple of days back, during the session:
> dim(AllDat)
[1] 27270 94
I came back this morning and misremembered my variables and thought I
had a variable

ff object in lapply function
Hello. I'm using as.ffdf(mydataframe) to create ffdf objects inside an lapply
loop and returning that. I then use crbind to combine the lapply results
into allData.
So...simplified flow looks like this.
res <- lapply(1:nchunks, function(n)
{
blah blah with nth chunk
mydataframe <- data.frame(blah blah)

Several PCA questions...
Hi, I am doing PCA on several columns of data in a data.frame.
I am interested in particular rows of data which may have a particular
combination of 'types' of column values (without any pre-conception of
what they may be).
I do the following...
# My data table.
allDat <- read.table("big_select_thresh_5", header=1)
# Where some rows look like this...
# PDB SUNID1

WTLIB99 with wine-010510 tar ball broken again
Hi:
Remember that I somewhat enthusiastically wrote that a VB3 program
called "Watchtower Library 1999" now works with wine-010508?
Well, [un]fortunately it is broken with again with the
wine-010510 tar ball. (Thank you, Kin Lau for pointing this out to
me by e-mail.)
Description:
The main program window of WTLIB99 is just a small bar with buttons
and a menu on top of the buttons.

Problem with pairs() in nlme
Dear r-helpers,
After successfully running
require(nlme)
vfr.lmL <- lmList(
estimate ~ (slant + respType + visField + hand)^2 | subject, vfr
)
pairs(vfr.lmL, id = 0.01, adj = -0.5) # Pinheiro & Bates (p. 141)
produces the following error:
Error in sprintf(gettext(fmt, domain = domain), ...) :
object "form" not found
Any guesses as to what I may have done wrong?

fst, wine, Kontakt5 ... still no joy
Hi,
(Sorry for the cross-posting.)
After manually installing the 32-bit libjack packages on my 64-bit system,
the original problem ("Can't connect to JACK") is gone; now I get a
whole new set of errors instead :)
When I try to start the Kontakt 5 VST from festige (via fst, via WINE),
this is what I get:

Use collection_select
I use the following code in my view:
<%= collection_select(''datedata'', ''date'', @allDate, :id, :date) %>
It''s show me the date of all entries in the database (Dropdown menu).
Additional, I wrote a helper method "showDate" in the
application_helper.rb! How can I use this method in the
collection_select for every date entry?
thanks

PDFs and SVGs containing rasterGrobs don't display correctly in some other software
I've just been trying to post-process some R-created heatmaps using
Inkscape, but I can't get them to display correctly in that software.
To reproduce:
library(grid)
r <- as.raster(matrix(runif(25), 5, 5))
pdf("test.pdf")
grid.newpage()
grid.raster(r, interpolate = FALSE)
dev.off()
This figure should be a five by five block of grey squares. This is
what I see in the R GUI

Change log(J) to log(J+1) to stop log(0) from occurring in harModel
I think the code is part of the RTAQ package but is not included in it, as I
obtained it from
https://r-forge.r-project.org/scm/viewvc.php/pkg/RTAQ/R/HAR_model.R?view=markup&root=blotter&sortby=author&pathrev=1028.
It is not my code and I make no claim to other's good work, and apologize if
I should even be posting it I am not sure, but in the transform function it

Introduction and question regarding the WINEPS printing system
Hi folks,
I'm a Linux user from Germany (more details about me at ameliezapf.com) and
use Wine to run Origin 6.1 (the scientific graphics program).
That seems to all go fine, and indeed it did when I used the Wine included in
SuSE 9.0 (Wine20030813).
Now I've upgraded to SuSE 9.2 (Wine 20040813) and suddenly, the paper sizes do
not get handed through to Origin anymore. No matter if I

sieve_pipe_socket_dir not created at startup for configured pipe service
Hi, all
I?m new to the list but not to dovecot. I?ve been using it in a basic configuration for some time, but finally decided to tweak my deployed system to take advantage of some more dovecot features. In particular I?m trying to set up pigeonhole to implement spam retraining with imapsieve. All of this is with dovecot 2.2.31 (65cde28) and pigeonhole 0.4.19.
Before going any further let me

Switching log(J) to log(J+1) to avoid log(0) in HAR-RVJ model
I am working with xts dependent data, and my code is as follows (the problem
is explained throughout):

tz="", FUN=NULL, regular=TRUE,
header=TRUE, index.column=1, colClasses=c("character",
"numeric"))
dat <- as.xts(dat)
