MythTV on Centos 4
I'm starting a project to build a MythTV box for my living room. Anyone else
currently working with MythTV on CentOS 4?
Here are some of the gotcha's I've worked through so far:
- I was originally planning on using KnoppMyth. But their CD appears to be only for
i386. Without realizing it, the P4 CPU I picked is one of the newer ones with the
x86_64 extensions. It won't boot

Centos 5.1, mythtv, saa7134_dvb?
I'm trying to set up my Centos 5.1 box at home to run mythtv.
The DVB-T card requires saa7134 and saa7134_dvb.
These are not in the Centos kernels.
Centosplus has saa7134, but not saa7134_dvb.
Do I have to compile the kernel myself, or is there a trick?

mythtv on centos4
Has anyone had any success or failures with installing mythtv onto
centos4? Even better, has anyone any prebuilt rpms to do this? Looks
to me like centos+mythtv is quite an interesting prospect in the
always-on single home server environment.

Belkin UPS, master netbook, slave MythTV server
Hi all,
I've finally gotten around to setting up the netbook that controls my
UPS and I would like to make sure that I've got the metacode correct
before configuring nut :)
Here's what I've got:
Belkin UPS F6C120auUNV
* Batteries recently replaced
* On battery: 24 port switch, PoE AP, antenna power booster, ADSL
modem, MythTV server, 19" monitor

Centos 5 - Setting up yum for ATrpms
I think I found one of my setup problems. I followed instructions at: http://atrpms.net/install.html
And now I see that the information shown there to put into yum.conf (that I put into yum.repo.d/atrpms.repo) is only for FC, not for RL5 (thus Centos 5).
What do I use in my atrmps.repo to get it to access the RL5 directories?

FW: [mythtv-users] VMWare on the backend. Viable solution?
I found this on the myth-tv list.
Can we do the same thing with asterisk?
Cheers,

Re: calculating the needed swiotlb in dom0
I just found out that setting swiotlb=128 in dom0 grub.conf allowed me to
run my mythtv domU with additonal options to ivtv:
in /etc/modprobe.d/options
options ivtv enc_mpg_buffers=8
Setting this to any higher value causes a kernel panic. I want to be able
to specify
options ivtv enc_mpg_buffers=16 enc_vbi_buffers=8
How much swiotlb do I need? Is there a way to figure this out or is it just

How to enable yum at startup with yum 2.9
Hi all,
I updated yum 2.4 to yum 2.9 from ATRPMS by using yum as below.
yum update yum
I now have yum 2.9.
pls see yum ver below
[root at mailgw yum]# rpm -qa |grep yum
yum-2.9.4-74.el4.at
yum-metadata-parser-1.0-7.1_1.el4.at
Before that (i.e when I was running yum 2.4), I could enable yum at startup
as below
chkconfig yum on
and I was also able to start/stop/restart yum as below.

NUT stopped working after an upgrade
Nut should be running as user nut. As far as I can tell, the udev rules
have not changed. And the system IS seeing the UPS at a low level.
I looked through /dev/ but did not see a device that jumps out as the UPS.

NUT stopped working after an upgrade
Check /dev/hidraw6, as noted in your dmesg output (and any other *hid* devices under /dev). User nut has almost zero privs to devices unless a udev rule changes the perms on the dev for nut . . .

NUT stopped working after an upgrade
Did the upgrade by chance install/alter any udev rules causing the UPS devices to now have incorrect permissions? And what user is nut running as?

NUT stopped working after an upgrade
Running NUT version 2.8.2 on Fedora 40. NUT installed from the Fedora
package. CyberPower CP1000AVRLCD connected by USB.
I updated the system yesterday with all the latest Fedora packages. Now
NUT will not run. Chasing the issue through the layers, I come to this:

Recommended REPO Setup for Desktop on Cos5
CentOS is simply great. I use it as my main desktop. I use VMWare
clients for any "special needs" software. I am struggling a bit with
the plethora of repos and looking for some advice.
Would you opine with detail on the best repo setup for a desktop CentOS 5?

centosplus kernel
Just for the record, we are currently working with someone from SGI to
get a much better implementation of XFS working with the centosplus
kernel.
I want to wait to push the centosplus unsupported kernel (2.6.9-22)
until we have this new and much more stable version of XFS code
implemented.
