Digitizing the Plot
Hi R,
Wanted to check if there are any packages available for getting the
(x,y) data points of a graph or a plot, which is in the image format.
Say, the plot could be a published report, and I want to get the points
of the curve plotted. (I am speaking something related the subject
discussed in http://www.uniphiz.com/digitizing.htm)
Thanks,
Shubha

Read and show Bitmap Images
Dear all,
I am looking for a function that can plot bitmap images and by plotting I mean a function that can read an image's matrix structure with integers and assign colors.
Do you please suggest me what else I can do for plotting these images?
I would like to thank you for your reply

cursor position on image
Hi,
I am using the EBImage package for image display and analysis and want to read the cursor (mouse) position on the image. The function "locator()" would be ideal, but this appears to work only on plots, not images.
> a <- Image((0:(w^2))/w^2, c(w,w))
> if ( interactive() ) display(a)
> locator(n = 10, type = "p")
Error in locator(n = 10, type = "p")

using rasterImage within image
Has anyone yet tried incorporating rasterImage into the base image()
function? It seems to make a *huge* difference, with
a very small number of added/changed lines of code. (Of course I have
barely tested it at all.)
Is there any reason this *shouldn't* go into the next release?

Creating a plot with an image as background
I want to create a plot of positions (x(t),y(t)) of animals in a barn for t=1,2,... (I have in mind creating many of these, saving them as png's and combining them into a small movie). I have an image file showing the physical layout of the barn, and I would like to have that image as background for the plots. Can that be done in R (easily) or is that something I should do outside of R using

automated image processing
Hi,
I am looking for a R package which is capable to process and analysis pictures of tissues (stained) in an automatic way.
I had a look on biops and EBImage (Bioconductor) but they are not automatic...
Did you already use/know a such package ?
Thanks,
- Martial

Insert .eps files in to an R plot.
Hello Everybody,
I have an eps figure an awesome bacteria and a plot (generated using R) also
in eps format. Now it looks like there is space for only one figure and I
have to insert the picture of the bacteria into the plot. Is there a way to
insert figures (eps/png/jpg) in to plots (may be control over placement of
figures in the plot as well?) ? By plots I mean data represented using axes

black cluster in salt and pepper image
Hi,
on a lattice, I have binary 0/1 data. 1s are rare and may form clusters.
I would like
to know the size/length of largest cluster. Any help warmly welcome,

colored rasterImage()
Hello,
I have been exploring the possibility to transition some code that
currently uses image() to use the new rasterImage(). To date, I
haven't been able to specify a color look-up strategy that works. For
example...
nx <- 100
ny <- 100
m <- matrix(data = rep(seq(0,1, length = nx), ny), ncol = nx, nrow =
ny, byrow = TRUE)
plot(1:nx, 1:ny, type = "n")

strange interaction between rasterImage and Grid graphics
Dear all,
This may be specific to Mac, I haven't had a chance to test another
platform. Consider this,
plot(1,1,t="n")
rasterImage(matrix(1),1,1,1,1)
library(grid)
grid.rect(gp=gpar(fill="grey"))
The grid.rect covers the full device window as expected. However, when
I resize the window ever so slightly (interactive device) the rectGrob
is suddenly clipped to the previous

What is the threshold for `useRaster` of graphics::image()?
Hi R-help list
What is the threshold for the `useRaster` argument of graphics::image()
to decide whether a grid is "regular" or not (i.e. the usage of
useRaster=T is allowed or not). My
`dev.capabilities("rasterImage")$rasterImage` is "yes".
I could not find this information in the internet. I also could not find
the source code of the graphics::image() function (I

R2.6 bug in arithmetics of S4 classes inherited from 'array', or intended behavior?
Hi,
I have an S4 class directly derived from 'array' as shown in the code
below (EBImage package of Bioconductor 2.1, devel), it simply contains
array adding a couple of slots:
setClass ("Image",
representation (colormode="integer", filename="character",
compression="character", resolution="numeric", features="list"
),

EBImage not loading
Hello all
I've just spent a few joyless hours trying to get EBImage to install in R.
I'm running Ubuntu (Hardy Heron), fully updated (including R and
Imagemagick). EBImage installation seems to work, but when I

Recovering x/y coordinates from a scatterplot image
Do I recall correctly that there is an R package that can take an image,
and help one estimate the x/y coordinates? I can't find the package,
thought it was an R-tool, but would appreciate any leads.
Thanks,

Clash between 'Cairo' and 'EBImage' packages on Windows
Hi,
on Windows XP Pro with R version 2.7.1 Patched (2008-06-27 r46012) the

I am using R-Image in an MSc statistics dissertation and have found, in various EBImage manuals a functions - bwimage, which I would like to use, however I can't find it within my version of R.
Could you tell me if the function has changed or what I need to do to be able to use it.
Many thanks

Add png image outside plot borders
I am trying to add a copyright disclaimer outside the plot borders of
some images I have created. I can use mtext() to add the written
portion, but I would like to have the Creative Commons license image
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Cc.logo.circle.svg) before the
text. I've found that I can plot a .png image inside the plot
boundaries using rasterImage() but I can't figure out how to
