Experiences with CentOS & MacBook Pro?
Ok, I'm finally of a mindset to replace my now tired, aging Dell Inspiron 600m. I'm currently running Fedora Core on it, and am fairly happy with the software. Has anybody used CentOS on a Macbook Pro? What gotchas are there? (The first that comes to mind is the lack of a right mousebutton) Scouting on the Internet, I've seen that some people have trouble getting sound to work.

Load balancing email?
Currently, we have two mail relays for inbound messages, and a third for POP. The inbound messages go thru all the CPU-intensive anti-spam stuff, and then they relay it to the POP server for pickup. Currently, one of these is the "primary", and the other is "secondary", and I'd like them to be considered more or less as equals, since the "primary" system is

RPM conflicts - help!
I'm building a database/application server with a Dual-Opteron 64 bit system. I need to run PHP4, Apache, and Postgres 8.1, but I'm having conflicts with Postgres 8.1 and PHP 4 that comes with CentOS. History: 1) I installed Apache and PHP with yum. 2) I then installed PostgreSQL 8.1 RPMs from the PG website. 3) Then, I tried to install php-pgsql with yum - and it didn't work,

(EG: using `df`) Running the following

PostgreSQL 8.2?
I've been using RPMs for PG 8.1 from CentosPlus for some time now. I've been very happy with them, and they've been wonderfully stable. http://mirror.centos.org/centos/4/centosplus/x86_64/RPMS/ But now 8.2 is out. Are there any plans to support PG 8.2 in CentosPlus, or should I go ahead with RPMS directly from PG?

OT: Evolution folder location
I have used Eudora since v 1.35 (circa '93). For quite some time, I have enjoyed keeping each of my mail accounts' folders in totally separate directory trees. In Eudora you do this by specifying the data locatoin as part of the startup: '<program location>/eudora.exe <data location>' So I am quite spoiled. But there is no Eudora support in Linux/CentOS. So

DNS maybe problems
I am setting up a new DNS server. It will be primary for my domain. This server is in an active subnet with a real public address. It is not setup yet properly in .com, but that is in the works. In the var/named/chroot/etc I added: named.custom (which I 'included' in named.conf) and my various zone files. All the log entries look good. Oh in /etc/resolv.conf, I added my system

I was just curious if anyone knew if any good backup scripts...I found one the other day on freshmeat called ibackup which does a great number of things, but I just wanted an idea of what was being used these days. -- Andrew Rice Jr

CentOS x64 crashed
I just installed CentOS 4.2 x64 bit version. After installaton, the system boots but kernel panics with this message: Badness in i8042_panic_blink at drivers/input/serio/i8042.c:992 The kernel seems to load completely. It gets passed the point where it prompts to press "I" for interactive mode. Something after that probably caused a module to load that crashed the kernel. Any idea

can't boot from install cd
We are migrating from Fermi Labs linux distro to the Centos 3.6 distro. So far all of the Dell's we have installed on have worked fine but we have two generic servers that are using Tyan Thunder K7X motherboards with built in Adaptec Ultra 160 SCSI using AIC7899 chipset. When we try to install on these systems the install cd seems to lockup loading the AIC7xxx driver. Adaptec says they do not

RFI: recommendation for temperature monitoring
Good morning gurus, I would like to get recommendation for monitoring temperature for cpu using Asus P5WD2 motherboard and Intel D 820. I my installation has CPU cooling system changed from Intel bulk to Zalman CNPS9500 and it works. Normal Intel cooling system is not enough and is overheating cpu quite badly. Unfortunately Zalman has to be controlled (rpms) manually and thus I would like to see
