Box Plot under GUI (R Commander/RKward)
Hi, I am a consultant in Quality Management. I am exploring the use of R with any GUI - R commander/Rkward for doing analytical work. Have installed R, R Commander and Rkward. I hope to learn by doing various exercises that I use for teaching analytical techniques to my clients. I would be posting the data on this mailing list, and the rkward mailing list wherever I get stuck. First such

GUI Experience - Box Plots
Hi, This is to share my experience of using GUI's for using various Quality Management/Assurance tools. A few days back, I had I had written a mail about Box plots and received some very good suggestions, including that for simple scripts. Thanks everybody for the same. Based on the suggestions, I am trying three GUI's: R Commander, JGR-Deducer combination and RKward. For Box Plots, I

Variable selection in R
Disclaimer : Short of having local statistical expertise at hand, I'm using this list because I use R for variable selection in the context of linear multiple regression but the questions I have relate more to basic statistics than to R per se. Please redirect me to another appropriate list if such a list exists. I have the very common problem of identifying which (subset of) variables are

Pareto Chart using GUI
Hi, I am exploring GUI's for doing Quality Management/Assurance/Improvement activities and this is another mail in series!

Improving packets/sec and data rate - v1.0.24
Hi, Terribly sorry about the duplicated message. I've completed the upgrade to Tinc 1.0.31 but, have not seen much of a performance increase. The change looks to be similar to switching to both aes-256-cbc w/ sha256 (which are now the default so, that makes sense). Out tinc.conf is reasonably simple: Name = $hostname_for_node Device = /dev/net/tun PingTimeout = 60 ReplayWindow = 625

Dot plot with two grouping variables concurrently
Dear R help(ers). I'm an R-learner (about 10 hours now) trying to make a ranked dot plot where the symbols are coded by two variables concurrently. I'm trying to use Deepanyan Sarkar's book 'Lattice' as a guide but get the feeling it is a bit advanced for my level of understanding. I have three questions Q1. Right now I like to know how to get the dual coding working

JGR/Deducer Installation
Hi, Sorry if this is to wrong mailing list. In that case, please point me to correct mailing list. Please also excuse rather long mail - I am not sure what piece of information would be useful for anybody who could help me. Couple of days back I had put a query about box-plots using GUI. I got some excellent suggestions. One of them was to use JGR/Deducer. It worked quite well for my needs.

Improving packets/sec and data rate - v1.0.24
Hi Jared, I've seen the same while testing on digital ocean, I think it's the context switching that happens when sending a packet. I've done some testing with wireguard and that has a lot better performance but it's still changing quite a lot and only does a subset of what tinc does so probably not a stable solution. Asterisk 1.8.x Skips DTMF Digits on a First DAHDI Initiated Call
Hi, I know it sounds weird, and this is part of the reason I have not reported that sooner. As I upgraded from 1.6.2.x to 1.8.x several months ago I am experiencing this problem. If a call is initiated from a DAHDI extension after no DAHDI extensions were used for some time, arbitrary DTMF digits are skipped and the call fails. If the call is redialed it goes through. Normally just one (1)

certain pipe() use cases not working in r-devel
I've now tested with: > R.version.string [1] "R Under development (unstable) (2024-02-16 r85931)" and all of the previously mentioned examples now work as expected on macOS. Thanks for the quick fix, Jenny On Thu, Feb 15, 2024 at 8:02?AM Tomas Kalibera <tomas.kalibera at gmail.com> wrote: > > On 2/14/24 23:43, Jennifer Bryan wrote: > > Hello, > > >

certain pipe() use cases not working in r-devel
Hello, I've noticed a specific type of pipe() usage that works in released R, but not in r-devel. In 4.3.2 on macOS, I can write to a connection returned by pipe(), i.e. "hello, world" prints here: > R.version.string [1] "R version 4.3.2 (2023-10-31)" > con <- pipe("cat") > writeLines("hello, world", con) hello, world But in r-devel on

Update RKWard to> = 0.7.0
Hi Griera, thanks for your report - I do not use rkward, so I did not notice that for some reason my backporting script failed to download the latest rkward version. I need to do apt-get source -t unstable instead of just apt-get source to get the current rkward source package from unstable. rkward 0.7 packages for i386 and amd64 are uploaded and will be synchronized to CRAN within a day or

Help on rKward
Hi, I'm testing rKward and it's become a great GUI for R on linux, mainly for new linux users. I'm not a new linux user and I use Emacs for my own R's script. But I always try new GUIs or IDEs for to recommend to my students. The most dificult for new R and Linux users is: I have installed R on my linux but I dont found the R icon. This happen because R on linux have only the

pipe Apple
Hi, I have a student trying to run R on an Apple (OS 10.3.9). She tried to cut-and-paste the data via the code: data<-read.table(pipe("pbpaste")) But she keeps getting the error message: 'error in pipe("pbpaste"): pipe connections are not available on this system' I do not know much about using an Apple. Has anyone run into this before? Does anyone have any ideas
