Wide to long form conversion
I have some data 'myData' in wide form (attached at the end), and
would like to convert it to long form. I wish to have five variables
in the result:
1) Subj: factor
2) Group: between-subjects factor (2 levels: s / w)
3) Reference: within-subject factor (2 levels: Me / She)
4) F: within-subject factor (2 levels: F1 / F2)

long character string problem
Hi All
I am having 2 very long character strings (550chars) and I want to put them as
expressions together with c(). The problem is that I also get these
double-quotes, as seen below in 'fct'. How can I remove these double-quotes? I
tried as.name() but it did not work (because of size?). These are creating
trouble with subsequent programs, which I tested with strings that for some

list of lists question
Hello all,
As a general programming question I can't seem to figure out how to make
a list of lists in R.
As matrices won't work as they have to be rectangular.
I am sure that there is an easy solution but...
the specific situation is this:
- I have created a Tukey confidence interval table and have listed the
means that are not significantly different
- then using these not

Lattice: combine the same strip?
Hello R helpers,
I am producing a figure with dual strips, i.e., x~y | S1 + S2, where S1 and
S2 are two strips. For example, in figure 2.1 at
http://lmdvr.r-forge.r-project.org/figures/figures.html.
In this case, I would like to combine the the top strip, since all three
pictures in the same row have the same level based on the first strip. In
other words, instead of

NUT 2.0.5 and 2.2.2 hacking -- there is something to improve!
Hello,
I wanted to set my own time intervals for shutdown.
{poweroff,return,paused.return}, so I had to change sources, where it has
been set in a hard way.
poweroff: Sxx\r
return: Zxx\r
paused.return: SxxRyyyy\r
Solution A: Why not adding an info about these commands in a generic way and
issuing shutdown.{poweroff.xx,return.xx,paused.return.xxyyyy}
Solution B: Why not creating a special

Help with averaging
Hi
I am using the following script to average a set of data 0f 62 columns into 31 colums. The data consists of values of ln(0.01) or -4.60517 instead of NA's. These need to be averaged for each row (i.e 2 values being averaged). What I would I need to change for me to meet the conditions:
1. If each run of the sample has a value, the average is
given

Beginner question: extending pointer to 128 bits segfaults
Hi all,
I've been trying to extend pointer size of the X86 target to 128 bits. For
the prortype, I would like nothing more than the pointers being i128 type
with the same value as before. All I've done was changing the data layout
string to p:128:128 and when trying to run a basic program such as:
int a = 42;
int *p = &a;
it segfaults with the following stack trace:

Conditional Distribution of MVN variates
Hi Folks,
Given k RVs with MVN distribution N(mu,S) (S a kxk covariance matrix),
let (w.l.o.g.) X1 denote the first r of them, and X2 the last (k-r).
Likewise, let mu1 and mu2 denote their respective expectations.
Then, of course, the expectation of X2 given X1=x1 is
mu2 + S21*inv(S22)*(x1 - mu1)
and the covariance matrix of X2 given X1=x2 is
S22 - S21*inv(X11)*S12
where Sij is the

Suggests?

I fit the data to a 'lm' object and used the Anova function from the

squares. I also set the contrast coding option to 'options(contrasts =

Since there are an odd number of teams in each round a team

The games will be:
