bootstrapping the lme model
Dear all, I have a data set o which I'd like to fit lme model. There are three factors one of whoich is nested. This should be easy to do using lme in R, but the problem ist that the data is highly non-normal. I was thinking about bootstrapping the distribution but don't have much experience of doing this in R and most references I find don't seem to go beyond the

Spatially Lagged Predictor Variable Models
Hi Everyone, I am doing a project based on "Spatially Lagged Predictor Variable Models", I would like to know which package in R would execute this model. Also, I am new to this field of spatial statistics. Any suggestions for a good book on spatial regression analysis would be appreciated. Thanks Again. Cheers Arun -- View this message in context:

Missing .so libraries for DLL files
Hi. I'm trying to get this PS2 ISO generator to work. It requires the DLL:s mfc42.dll and mfc42loc.dll---hence I got them and placed them in ~/.wine/hdd/windows/system. Now it's complaining about missing .so libraries for the builtin DLL:s. I have this in the config: "mfc42" = "builtin, native" "mfc42loc" = "builtin, native"

prediction from glm
Hello r-help, I try to fit birds counts over years using glm. I have done (with Estate and year as factors): Model1 <- glm(Females~Estate+Year+offset = log(area)), family = quasipoisson(link = log), na.action = "na.exclude") After I have calculated the prediction using: Pred1 <- predict(Model1, type = "response", na.action = "na.exclude") My question

Superscript followed by number then superscript in text
Hi all, I'm having problems finding the correct format for a command. I would like to write some text on a plot. I'm using the following command: text(x,y,"text here", srt=90) I would like the text to read: capacity 10^3 m^3 (with ^ denoting superscript (i.e. each '3' as superscript). I've tried fiddling around with expression(paste(etc.... to no avail. I

complex subscript/superscript on axis labels
Hi All, I am having trouble getting a complex subscript to work. I'm sure it's possible. Here is what I have: ylab=expression(paste("log ",L[peak]," [erg ",s^{-1},"]")), I would like to have the subscript read "peak, gamma" where the gamma would be the greek symbol. I do want the comma to show as well. Thanks, EM

Mathematical Superscript on the y-axis of a plot
I am trying to get superscripts on the y-axis. I keeping getting syntax error: This works as advertised: > plot(c(1:10), ylab= expression(paste(x^ theta))) This does not: >plot(c(1:10), ylab= expression(paste(x^ {++}))) Note that I am trying to get ++ as superscript. Any suggestions? Thanks. -.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.- r-help mailing

How to write "%" before superscript?
I would like to write atom% 15N in the ylab of a plot - "15" should be written as superscript. How do I put "%" into the expression? It does not work if I type "%" directly after "atom" in the expression below. plot(1:10, ylab = expression(atom^15*N)) Best regards, Thomas Larsen [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Complex superscript plot text
Hi all: I would like to create a line of plot margin text (using mtext() ) that features both a superscript and a subset of an object. However, I cannot seem to do both things at once, nor have I found a way to paste the two results together. (I pull the object subset because this is part of a for-next loop to make multiple graphs) This example doesn't give me what I want from mtext():

another superscript problem
I've exceeded the maximum time I am willing to accept for solving simple problems so I thank all in advance for your assistance. I am trying to plot text combined with an object value and a superscript. obv = 5 text = "Population mean =" ss = ^o # degrees Something like this (very naive so you get the idea): expression(text, obv, ss) paste(text, obv) # works ...but of course I
