Windows 7 problems
Hi, I have upgraded to Samba 3.5.6 for Windows 7 Pro compatibility. I am in a test phase to evaluate the behavior of Windows 7 in a Samba PDC environment. I have one Samba server as a PDC with tdbsam backend (no LDAP at all), and I applied the reg and patch as described in the wiki. I have a couple of questions related to Windows 7 : - opening a domain session on the Win7 client takes a

FK constraints overrated?
Hello folks, I use to think that a relational databases without foreign keys constraints enforced strictly by the RDBMS were no good, piece of crap, data junk. However, I''ve also learned the hard way that FKs constraints imposes serious difficulties when moving data around, specially between different DBs, or for loading test data or for upgrading DBs schemas, or for porting DBs

The use for an XML based metadata format
I've been trying to follow the situation here, because that's one of the things I try to do in Xiph: know what's happening. There's a total of 70 messages related with recent metadata discussions. Here's what I have understood so far: * Daniel is still not trying to read and understand the _other_ metadata proposals; he makes several non-true statements regarding them. *

Ajax - from there to here
Trying to use Amy Hoy''s ajaxariffic auto_complete methodology and I am getting really close to the end. This is fairly complicated but I will simplify as best I can. My view code is simple... <%= text_field_with_auto_complete ''client'', ''wholename'' %> # wholename is not a column in ''clients'' but rather represents an

Something like rcov but more explicit?
Hey list, Does anything exist that can show me which lines are explicitly tested? RCov is great, but it doesn''t really give a sense of _actual_ coverage, indeed, there is no guarantee that functions executed were in fact called as the result of a line being tested. I know nothing of the rspec internals, but would a simple list of executed lines be a relatively simple feature to add?

help pages base R not rendered correctly?
Hi Duncan, that explains, thank you. If nobody finds the time to fix that, I might give it a shot myself this summer. Barbeque is overrated. Repeated kernel "oops" / oom-killer with Ralph Passgang''s xen 3.0.0 Debian packages
Hi, One of my servers has had its dom0 "oops" over and over twice in the last week. Unfortunately this is newly deployed so I have no idea if it is down to Xen or not. xen_changeset : Mon Dec 12 18:47:47 2005 +0100 8270:4ad23e798798 dom0 kernel is a vanilla 2.6.12 with Ralph''s .6+xen kernel patch applied. x86_32 sarge packages were used. Onboard RAID Tyan Transport GT24 (Thunder K8SRE s2891)
I've been checking out this and like the looks of it. http://www.tyan.com/products/html/gt24b2891.html I was told the onboard SATA RAID controller can only be used by windows. However, others have told me that there is no problem using it with linux. Anyone used the Tyan Transport GT24 (TYAN Thunder K8SRE s2891 motherboard)? Good choice for a CentOS server? Thanks, Josh

Redhat Enterprise Linux 8 binary package status
The current version of nut for EL8, nut-2.8.0-3 is broken since it came out in December 2022. I have been waiting for an update to the RPM latest version nut-2.8.0-8 while having no UPS protection for my EL8 servers. The INSTALL.txt file states for Redhat that: "NUT is packaged and well maintained in these systems. The official Red Hat packager is part of the NUT Team." Is

Many warnings in the newest R ...
Hello! I am using R 2.5.0 under Ubuntu 6.06, and I am not an expert. Recently, I think from the latest update some warning messages started to appear, when I use my old data-file and R-histories (hence, everything was done before and worked perfectly well). It seems to me that those are related to the Design package, but I am not sure. One is coming out after: > d = datadist(a,b,c) Warning
