negative binomial family glm R and STATA
Dear Lister,
I am facing a strange problem fitting a GLM of the negative binomial
family. Actually, I tried to estimate theta (the scale parameter)
through glm.nb from MASS and could get convergence only relaxing the
convergence tolerance to 1e-3. With warning messages:
glm1<-glm.nb(nbcas~.,data=zonesdb4,control=glm.control(epsilon = 1e-3))
There were 25 warnings (use warnings() to see

Paravirtualized Solaris Update 6 (10/08)?
Gurus;
I''ve been running Solaris 10 on a HVM domain on my machine (running SXCE
snv_93 x86) for some time now.
Now that Solaris 10 Update 6 (10/08) has been released, I tried creating
a Paravirtualized Guest domain but got the same error message I got
previously...

Partial italic in graph titles when looping
Dear all,
I have a rather complicated problem. I am trying to loop through making graphs,
so that the graph-making process is fully automated. For each graph, I'd like to
make sure the corresponding title is formatted properly. The titles will be a
combination of a gene name and numerical position within the gene. The gene name
should be italic-bold, whereas the gene position should be

Solaris 10 with xen 3.2 or previous
Hi,
Was anyone able to run Solaris 10 10/08 as guest under a HVM domU Debian Etch (xen 3.0.3-1) or current Debian Lenny (xen 3.2-1)?
In my case Solaris installation stops after boot kernel ; I can''t see anyhing after grub screen.
I know that it is possible using Xen 3.3 (see [1]) but I don''t know if it possible with a previous Xen version
Thanks,
Álvaro

DNAT and Load Balancing
Hi all!
After that good thread "DGD patch not detecting dead gateway" I was
able to set up a Load Balancing with ping based DGD (without Julian
Anastasov patch). But now I''m facing a new problem and tried some
options, with only partial solutions.
I made a script based on

problem building dendrograms to use with heatmap()
Hi,
I'm trying to build dendrograms to pass to heatmap().
The dendrograms I build plot properly, but when I pass them to heatmap() I get
the error message "row dendrogram ordering gave index of wrong length" (see
output log below).
I looked in the code of heatmap() and saw that the error was due to a NULL
return value from order.dendrogram(), which in turn got a NULL return value

[LLVMdev] SoftenSetCCOpernads in LegalizeFloatTypes.cpp
While generating a libcall from floating point comparison, it always
assumes that the return type of those libcalls is i32.
Why not allow Targets to provide the correct return type?

SDValue Ops[2] = { LHSInt, RHSInt };
NewLHS = MakeLibCall(LC1, RetVT, Ops, 2, false/*sign irrelevant*/, dl);
NewRHS = DAG.getConstant(0, RetVT);

Help understanding and lowering LLVM IDS conditional codes correctly
Note: Question is written after describing what I have coded.
Hello LLVMDevs,
I am trying to impliment floating point comparsion for an architecture which
supports following type of floating point comparision if FPU is available:
fcmp.un --> true if one of the operand is NaN
fcmp.lt --> ordered less than, if any input NaN then return false
fcmp.eq --> ordered equal, if any input NaN

koq.q ---- Kent O' Quigley R2
Dear R-users,
I apply to your kind attention to know if someone have used the Splus software
koq.q (Kent & O'Quigley's measure of dependence for censored data) in R and
kindly can help me.
I have tried several times to contact the authors Andrej Blejec
(andrej.blejec at uni-lj.si) or Janez Stare (janez.stare at mf.uni-lj.si) but
unfortunately no one answered me.

[LLVMdev] dragon egg adding extra characters to function names
Hello,
I'm looking at compiling some pieces of the standard library with llvm but
I'm running into problems with some functions being renamed by dragonegg.
For example, when I compile the acos implementation with plain gcc I get:

Package "demography" - calculating percentiles of survival probabilities distribution
Hi,
I am using the package "demography" from Rob Hyndman for the
Lee-Carter-Model. It is an amazing powerful tool but I am struggling with
one issue:
I want to compute different percentiles of the survival probability
distribution derived from the Lee-Carter-Forecast (e.g. the 50%tile,
60%tile, 75%tile and 99%tile) for each of the next 10 years. Is there any
possibility to retrieve

Ordering a matrix based on cluster no
Hi All
I have a symmetric matrix of genes ( 100x100 matrix). I also have a matrix
(100x2) of two columns where column 1 has the gene names and column 2 has
the cluster it belongs to (they are sorted and grouped based on the cluster
no).
I would like to order the rows and columns of the 100x 100 matrix such that
the first n genes correspond to cluster 1 and next n genes correspond to
cluster 2

PV USB Use Case for Xen 4.x
Good Afternoon. My colleague Stefan (sstan) was asked on the IRC
channel to provide our use case for PV USB in our environment. This is
possible with the current xm stack but not available with the xl stack.
Currently we use PVUSB to attach a USB Smartcard reader through our dom0
(SLES 11 SP1) running on an HP Blade Server with the Token mounted on an
internal USB Port to our domU CA server
