tinydns -some help needed
Is there a tinydns or dns wizard that could give me some hints, please?
I am setting up and testing tinydns, but have some problems figuring out
how to route. I do get dnscache to listen on tinydns. Also I do not
understand why it will not answer the given ip (127.0.0.1) to the name
server.
1. Both services are up running and seems to be working fine, so why no

hw raid 10 with 4 disc, recomended partitiontable
I am familiar with centos and this forum, and have some rhel / centos
questions. Therefore I'm asking the question here
I am about to install rhel4.5 on a hp dl380 with 4 disc's. The standard
rhel installation installers all in one partition?
Will there be any advantage of splitting the file system up?
What would be a good recommended partition table for a server running

I can do alaw, ulaw and gsm; remote can do g729 and alaw; asterisk wants to translate g729 -> alaw. WHY?
I am having a problem with one of my callers who is using either g729 or
alaw. I can do alaw but not g729 so asterisk should negotiate alaw
right? In fact from the sip debug it looks like it does, but then I get
the dreaded "channel.c:5630 set_format: Unable to find a codec
translation path: (g729) -> (alaw)" and the call hangs up. Why?
Last minute thought: Is it possible that

Stateful Takeover in a Cluster environment
Hey
I am new to Samba and have a few queries.
How can you archieve "Stateful Takeover" for a Samba Session
My goal is to get a samba service running over a cluster.
For the client it is transparent to witch server he connects.
If a node in the cluster dies, the connection will move with all the states
over to another node.
I know Samba 3 is not clusteraware, perhaps anybody knows

Trying to understand Remote desktops
This is something that has been long overdue for me to set up, and how I
am looking it hard in the face.
Back in '94, I was doing REAL X-Terminals into UNIX systems. Watching
simple mouse meanderings eat up all available bandwidth, and forget it
if you resized a window and had to download the new font.....
So here we are, in the modern times with GNOME (I chose that over KDE,
because),

remote desktop
What is the difference between the GUI (system->Preferences->Remote
Desktop) under centos 5.1
and editing /etc/X11/xorg.conf and adding the vnc in the modules section?
Is one better than the other?

Quota and Squirrelmail
Hello,
I have CentOS with quotas installed and make the users read their
mails through squirrelmail. So I've been applied quotas in 2
partition, one for home, and other for /var/spool/mail/ directory.
the problem is when the quota is over, the inbox in squirrelmail is
locked so the user can't delete their mails and free the space. And
all is frozen for them.
Don't know If the

I am not sure what information I would need to post for assistance in
resolving this issue but here is a short list of things I have tried
thus far to remedy:
Tested /tmp as share root folder (works)

howto transfer all configuration between 2 remote dedicated servers?
Hello
I'm willing to change my dedicated server hosting provider, and transfer my
existing server to the new one.
I don't have kvm access, but both servers are centos5.2
I can boot a network image that is debian based and have access to the disk.
Then I tried to rsync -a my first server to the destination host, but it was
not reachable from the network (I modified /etc/fstab and

Best virtualization setup for Centos 5.2
Hi,
we are running Centos 5.2 on our servers for some time now and are really
happy with it. Now I'm investigating the best way to setup virtual machines
in order to streamline our infrastructure. The setup I'm aiming for is
Centos 5.2 guests on Centos 5.2 host. The physical systems are going to be
2xquad core Xeons and the VMs are probably going to be 1 or 2 vCPUs with 1

Escape ''&'' in text_field_with_auto_complete
Good day.
I have searched on the net and through the archives to now avail as of yet.
I have a text_field_with_auto_complete that searches for company names.
These company names obviously can have an ''&'' in the name of the company
(example Barnes & Nobel).
The auto complete works beautifully.
However, the problem arises when I pass the name of the company to the

error.crosses
Hello all, I have used describeBy to generate the following summary
statistics. I simply need x and y error bars on a plot that has CQN
(xaxis) and Price (yaxis). There should be four total points on the graph
(one for each supplier).
Using "error.crosses(desc$CQN, desc$Price)" does not work.
