the R package - relation to R project?
I stumbled across this link and was wondering if this has any relation to
the R project.

depth constrained cluster
Please could you help me to find a package to apply a depth-constrained cluster analysis on palaeoecological data (in order to zone subfossil diagram)?

Dear R-Help
Does "The R Package for Multivariate and Spatial Analysis Version 4.0
(Casgrain
and Legendre, 2001)" exist on CRAN and under what name? It supposedly has a
chronological clustering program ,CHRONO, that I would like to use.
Alternatively, I would ask if there is a R based program that performs
chronological clustering?
Thanks

R-project [.com?] [.net?]
I got a shock a few days ago when I accidentally visited
www.r-project.com . I thought that the r-project site had been hacked
until I realised my mistake. There is also a site www.r-project.net.
Both of these sites appear to be Japanese. Does anyone know anything
about them? I suppose that it is not unusual for names close to those of
popular sites to be used. It is good that they use a

[samba4] How to use my ldap users in sam.ldb?
Hi
I successfully compiled samba4 on my ubuntu.
Actually, most our Linux servers are using en openldap base to authenticate.
All the samba 3 servers use this openldap base
/passdb backend = ldapsam:ldaps://ldap.intra.labo.fr// (in the smb.conf)
I tried to migrate the users account of my openldap database to internal
samba4 ldap database.
For this I used the myldap-pub.py script with this

centos 5.5 oscar: gcc41, gcc44 and gfortran41, gfortran44
Hi,
I'm totally new with centos...we have a cluster in our labo with centos
oscar. The gcc which was provided with the release is gcc41 and
gfortran41. There are packages for gcc44 and gfortran44. I have
installed them.
But the gcc is not a link to gcc41 or gcc44. it is just an executable.
idem for gfortran. So which is the good way on centOS to choose the
gcc44 and gfortran44 per default.

Results from mixed linear models
Dear list,
I'm quite confused when interpreting results from a mixed linear model.
For example, working on Iris data frame, I want to know the effect of
species on slope of the model "Petal.Length~Sepal.Length"
I write this :
data(iris)
reg01 <- lm(Petal.Length~Sepal.Length + Sepal.Length:Species, data=iris)
summary(reg01)
It gives me a summary table with lm for the first

linear discriminant analysis in MASS
Hello R people
I now know how to run my discriminant analysis with the lda function in
MASS:
lda.alain=lda(Groupes ~ Ht.D0 + Lc.Dc + Ram + IDF, gr, CV = FALSE)
and it works fine.
But I am missing a test and cannot find any help on how to get it, if it
exist.
The "S" equivalent:
discrim(structure(.Data = Groupes ~ Ht.D0 + Lc.Dc + Ram + IDF, class =
"formula"), data = gr,

Spatial data, rpoispp, using window with fixed radius?
Dear All,
I was searching through the spatstat manual in order to find a function to simulate a Poisson pattern only within a fixed radius (circular moving window) around individual points. If points are distributed heterogeneously over a large area this may help to only assess deviation from CSR within the window and thus does not require additional information on a covariate. I could not find

Noob Question : Compatibility between NUT and an APC BACK-UPS RS 1500VA 230V
Hi,
It's the first time that we want to use an UPS in our labo. We have 1
server, which are running under an old version of opensuse. We would
like to use the stable tree of nut on the computer with an APC BACK-UPS
RS 1500VA 230V. I have seen on the compatibility page, that this UPS is
supported. is there anyone, who uses this UPS with NUT to confirm that ?
Thanks a lot,
Best regards,

I.O error: zpool metadata corrupted after powercut
Last 2 weeks we had 2 zpools corrupted.
Pool was visible via zpool import, but could not be imported anymore. During import attempt we got I/O error,
After a first powercut we lost our jumpstart/nfsroot zpool (another pool was still OK). Luckaly jumpstart data was backed up and easely restored, nfsroot Filesystems where not but those where just test machines. We thought the metadata corruption

chronological clustering
Does anybody know of any R functions to perform chronological clustering
as explained in:
Legendre, P., S. Dallot & L. Legendre. 1985. Succession of species
within a community: chronological clustering, with applications to
marine and freshwater zooplankton. American Naturalist 125: 257-288.

Hi
I'd like to know if the R can do the DCCA? Because I can't find the package about
the DCCA in R. If it can not, please introduce a free software to me, which you
think can easily do the work , thanks!

AEM package
I'm trying to do AEM eigenfunctions, but I have a different number of points into each reservoir (e.g.: reservoir 1-4 points, reservoir 2-6 points, reservoir 3-2 points....). Can someone help me?Besides this in the Legendre's book exemple in the part:>length.edge<-vector(length=nrow(edges.b))>for (i in 1:nrow(edges.b)){length.edge[i]<-D1.mat[edges.b[i,1], edges.b[i,2]]}There is

Likelihood between observed and predicted response
Hi,
I've two fitted models, one binomial model with presence-absence data
that predicts probability of presence and one gaussian model (normal or
log-normal abundances).
I would like to evaluate these models not on their capability of
adjustment but on their capability of prediction by calculating the
(log)likelihood between predicted and observed values for each type of
model.

ade4 package update
The ade4 package (v. 1.2-1) has been updated on CRAN.
New features include:
- functions based on Rao's axiomatization of diversity measures : Rao's
diversity coefficient and dissimilarity coefficient (divc and disc)
- functions based on Excoffier et al. analysis of molecular variance
with tests of the difference among the factors (amova).
- functions introducing double principal
