[PATCH v3] virtio_blk: Fix a slient kernel panic
From: Minfei Huang <mnghuan at gmail.com>
We do a lot of memory allocation in function init_vq, and don't handle
the allocation failure properly. Then this function will return 0,
although initialization fails due to lacking memory. At that moment,
kernel will panic in guest machine, if virtio is used to drive disk.
To fix this bug, we should take care of allocation failure, and return

Solving a tridiagonal system
I need to find solutions to a tridiagonal system. By
this I mean a set of linear equations Ax = d where A
is a square matrix containing elements A[i,i-1],
A[i,i] and A[i,i+1] for i in 1:nrow, and zero
elsewhere. R is probably not the ideal way to do this,
but this is part of a larger problem that requires R.
In my application it is much easier (and much faster)
to generate the diagonal and

[PATCH] virtio: Return correct errno for function init_vq's failure
The error number -ENOENT or 0 will be returned, if we can not allocate
more memory in function init_vq. If host can support multiple virtual
queues, and we fails to allocate necessary memory structures for vq,
kernel may crash due to incorrect returning.
To fix it, kernel will return correct value in init_vq.

Off topic --- help in locating a source.
Apologies for the off-topic question; as usual I'm trying to draw
upon the unparalleled knowledge and sagacity of the r-help list.
Please reply off-list if you can help me out.
A collaborator of mine found a formula we need, on sheets which he had
photocopied out of a book, some years ago. He cannot remember which
book (he's getting to be as senile and forgetful as I am, poor
bloke!).

samba as pdc in Ubuntu dapper, fails on ps$ join?
Hola,
I've done everything as correct as I can see in smb.conf under fresh ubuntu 6.06 fully
updated install to have it run as a PDC on hostname florentine, domain DAVEYST.
There are no testparm errors.
I've added users with useradd and smbpasswd -a
I've added machines with useradd and smbpasswd -a -m
I can see the server in my network neighbourhood and access/browse folders on

glm
Hi,
I have the following data
data1 <- data.frame(count = c(0,1,1,2,4,5,13,16,14), weeks = 1:9,
treat=c(rep("1mg",3),rep("5mg",3),rep("10mg",3)))
and I am using
library(splines)
to fit
glm.m <- glm(count~bs(weeks)+as.factor(treat),family=poisson,data=data1)
and I am interested in predicting the count variale for the weeks 10, 11 and

Looking for info
Firstly if this is not list specific then excuse me.
I am looking for information on how I might use a Linux box with three
network cards to service two subnets off of a single 10Mg VPN feed. We have
currently got two 5 offices all connected over a VPN. 2 of the offices are
to merge but for simplicity we don''t want to change all the IP addresses. We
are moving the two networks

reorder [stats] and reorder.factor [lattice]
It was recently pointed out on the lists that the S-PLUS Trellis suite has
a function called reorder.factor that's useful in getting useful ordering
of factors for graphs. I happily went ahead and implemented it, but it
turns out that R (not S-PLUS) has a generic called reorder (with a method
for "dendrogram"). Naturally, this causes R to think I'm defining a
method for
