Now that W at the end of 1350 is a huge word that means WINDOWS! grrrr! It's a great printer 21pgs/min etc but it doesn't like linux at all and their tech spt will tell you as much. I

6 channel encoding
It appears that either Vorbis was never intended to support more than 2 channels or the algorithm doesn't work for low sound levels. In trying to encode Beauty and the Beast and Starwars II using 6 channels, the Vorbis encoder produced noise in all the scenes were audio dropped below -25 dB. Unfortunately since most dialog is below -25 dB, the Vorbis encodings are unintelligable for most

losing print driver associations on reboot
Hello all, I've got a strange problem with Samba 2.2.4. I'm able to associate print drivers to printers (raw queue in cups). My clients are able to see that the drivers belong to the printers, and they download them, but as soon as the server reboots, I lose my driver associations and I need to once again specify a driver on the windows end. The Print server was an upgrade from Samba

Well, there's so few going right now that I'm showing 38 days to get the DVD. My normal dnld from a mirror travels appx. 600Mb/sec. I'll wait until most of the U.S. goes home before I give up and use the normal download though. Here's hoping... -- Bill

R commands formating for LaTeX
Dear R users, I have to include typical UNIX formated R commands and outputs into the article using LaTeX. What is the easiest way to include R prompt commands and text outputs (including messages) into LaTeX documents? Is there any template or library? So far I'm trying to produce R commands in LaTeX using LaTeX general format options. Thanks, Rado

how to identify the outliers
Hello R-users, Is there any more sophisticated way how to identify the dataset outliers other then seeing them in boxplot? I wanna exclude them from further analysis and I am interested in their position in my vector data. Rado -- Radoslav Bonk M.S. centosplus kernel upgrade
the upgrade itself is fine...no problems but I am confused about 1 thing. In order for yum to it's thing w/out updating the kernal, I put this: "exclude=kernel". I put this line in every division of /etc/yum.repos.d. i.e. Base, Updates, Addons, etc. my question is: I don't really know the proper way to exclude. thx John Rose

Install from a USB CDrom?
OK, this is getting ridiculous. A relatively new HP NC4010 (1 year old). A maybe not the newest Storix USB CD/R-DVD drive. Of course the HP has no problem booting up off the CDrom. But then I get that blasted dialog of where are my install. So I go through the list and find a USB storage driver. It doesn't help. I do have a USB 2.5" drive case that I can put a drive in with the
