IBM eServer x366 with Xen?
Hi There,
Can someone have a look at the specs of this server, found here:
http://www-8.ibm.com/servers/eserver/nz/xseries/x366/specs.html
and let me know if this is a VT-enabled server? The outline lists this
server as having: Intel Xeon Processor MP up to 3.66GHz (single-core)
and 3.00GHz (dual-core)/667MHz front-side bus, both support Intel
Extended Memory 64 Technology.
Thanks

XCP eserver xSeries 336 support
Hi.
We look to switch from XenServer, as it latest versions do not run on
our eserver xSeries 336 server.
Does the XCP 1.1 fully support this hardware?
Also, any idea how well the Xen tools, such as XenCenter and Xen HW->VM
tools supported in 1.1 release?
I seen there is a feature called XAPI that makes the XCP look as
fully-featured XenServer.
Thanks.

Installation problems on old IBM server
I'm trying to install CentOS 4.2 on an old IBM x300 server, but it hangs
during the boot from cd. The last entries I can see before it dies are the
two "agpgart" lines. I've been playing around with bios settings (video
settings and serial settings since the serial driver is the next thing
going on in the kernel) and boot params (noapic, acpi=off etc) but I just
can't

terrible problems with Xen on SLES 10.2 / 11
Hello everyone,
I''m totally new to Xen and trying to run it on some platforms (x86, x64)
using SLES (that is what I have to use for reasons other than technical).
Several machines on which I tried using Xen simply fails to run normally
using Xen kernel: either network communication is not functioning at all
despite proper configuration (that works on non-Xen kernel), or the
kernel

[Bridge] Bridging on broken Broadcom hardware.
Greetings (first post to the list)...
The following patch is required to allow bridging to occur on an
IBM x305 (1RU server). (It has been posted to the kernel-developers
mailing list previously.)
Background:
- The Dual Broadcom NICs in the IBM x305 have a broken checksum
routine which wants to calculate the checksum the ethernet
packet where the 'source' IP address is the IP

how to install Linux on an IBM xserver 335 server without graphics card?
Hi All,
I recently got some IBM Xseries 335 servers 2nd hand, and noticed they
don't have any graphics card. Some google searched indicate they only
have an uplink port, which you could connect to another (other model)
IBM server and use that as the head node. But, I don't have one
available.
It has 2x GB NIC's, and what looks like a management port, but I can't
figure out how to

OT Nice IBM 1U Server Gets Along w/Old and New Digium Boards Cheap X305 $199
Just an FYI on a great server for cheap if anyone is looking for a
solid Asterisk platform. I don't work for these guys or have any
affiliation, I just saw this deal and used to use these and the X306s
for Asterisk deployments because they were trouble free as far as
hardware, IRQs, and OS. They were ~$1,000 a couple of years ago.
It is a refurb so YMMV.

Recommended SAS or SAS RAID controllers for Xen on IBM xSeries 306m with PCI-X slot
Does anyone recommend any particular SAS controller, or should I use an
Ultra-320 SCSI controller instead?
My machine is an IBM xSeries 306m. It has a SAS controller provided on a
daughter card, but it''s not supported in the 2.6.16 kernel, so I''m
looking for a separate disk controller card that will work with my
existing SAS disks.

Failed to boot suse 10.1(domain 0) with IBM xSeries 330
Hi ,
I have setup xen on a number of different machines already; however, I
couldn''t get xSeries 330 working with Xen.
When it boots up, it says "Waiting for device /dev/sda1 .... device not
found" and then return a shell prompt. I have looked up this error on the
mailing list. I found that the error is potentially caused SCSI driver and
it can be resolved this problem by

AS/400 -> eServer iSeries -> System i -> Power Systems

So the current 'Power Systems' range combines what was AS/400 with what
was RS/6000. They all use Power CPUs now and run Linux, IBM i, or AIX.

Server Compatibility questions... IBM and Dell
Does anyone on list have experience with Digium hardware in the following
servers:
Dell poweredge SC440
IBM xSeries x226
Have just had major hassles getting TE205P ISDN cards going in these boxes.
No joy so far.
Anyone managed to do it yet?
Thanks.

Boot/init problem with IBM Netfinity 4500
I hope the CentOS people don't mind me cross-posting for their input.
I've just done a clean, text-mode minimal WBEL4 install on an IBM
Netfinity 4500, essentially the same hardware as an xSeries 340.
The install went fine but now the box will boot, run through the
initrd init sequence, perform its switchroot then hang here...

CentOS 5.2 with IBM SERVERAID 6i
I need to install CentOS 5.2 on a IBM Server xSeries 226, which comes
with a IBM SERVERAID 6i RAID card. I think it is not a true hardware
RAID card. I has, nevertheless, an interesting feature: 128MB of cache
with battery backup.
I launched the CentOS boot DVD and CentOS correctly identified the
card and the RAID 5 array as configured by the controller's BIOS.
My question now is:

ISDN / Analog
Phil,
It sounds like your carrier is just using a channel bank to split off
six of your E1 channels into analog FXO ports. You will want this for
fax lines, security systems, and dialup connections since doing this
over VoIP/Asterisk can be problematic. It is best to keep these lines
out of the PBX.
I have done several implementations on IBM x305 and x306 servers and
they work great. I

Disable clear screen
Hi,
Is it possible to disable the clear screen when loading syslinux ?
Since the IBM BIOS on xSeries systems shows the MAC address of the onboard
NICs, I would like to have them on screen when people do a kickstart
fro mthe prompt using eg: ksdevice=<MAC address>
I personally think that the clear screen is unwanted in most cases since
people can add that to the boot message (ctrl-L) if
