HP SureStore 40x6e - Multiple LUN's problem on CentOS 4.4
This is one of those autoloaders where the tape drive and the library share a SCSI ID, but are on different LUN's - specifically the library should be on LUN 1. Apparently since so many devices like this are broken, recent kernels don't probe beyond the first LUN, so it's not detecting the library. My /proc/scsi/scsi output: Attached devices: Host: scsi4 Channel: 01 Id: 00 Lun:

Multiple LUN support
Hi all... I have a scsi Tape library. Centos only sees the tape drive portion of the library. I need to enable Multiple LUN support to get the library and tape drive recognized. I am looking for some help enabling multiple lun support in Centos 4. I had a procedure on how to do this in the 2.4 kernel but it doesn't seem to work in the 2.6. Any help would be appreciated. kernel with multi-LUN SCSI support
I am running CentOS 3.1 and everything is working beautifully except my HP12000e tape library that requires multi-LUN support. Every time I re-compile the 2.4.21 kernel with the multi-LUN SCSI option, I get the multi-LUN to work but something else breaks. Is there a pre-compiled kernel somewhere that is similar to the stock CentOS kernel except that it includes the multi-LUN feature? thanks!

Multi-Card reader (SD, MMC, etc) and CONFIG_SCSI_MULTI_LUN kernel option in 34.0.2. Workaround
Hi folks, Im trying to get a multi-card reader on centos (SD, MMC, and so, 4 card slots) and i have read (http://www.cs.sfu.ca/~ggbaker/personal/cf-linux) that CONFIG_SCSI_MULTI_LUN should be enabled on kernel (=Y) but current 34.0.2 doesn't have it enabled by default, is there any particular reason to not be enabled? By the other hand i've also tweak the /etc/grub.conf file to boot the

sg device
What is the "sg" device? The reason I ask, is that I have a file server running CentOS 4.2 on a Dell Precision 1650. Disks are attached via QLogic FC. I backup to a Qualstar TLS-4222 tape changer, with AIT-2 tapes, which is connected over an Adaptec 29160 Ultra 160 SCSI. The software I'm using is Legato Networker version 7.1.2. I'm backing up a bit under 1 TB a month

st devices not showing up in xvm
I have a Sony lib-162 tape library hooked up to an adaptec 39160 scsi controller. I''m running OpenSolaris / Indiana snv_98 with the CADP160 driver installed from a SXCE dvd (snv_99). When I boot without xvm, I can run "mt config" and see the configuration information for the first drive in the library. Under xvm, some scsi operations still work - I can access the changer, move

CentOS 6.6 Bacula-SELinux issue
I updated my backup server to CentOS 6.6 this morning. As usual, I unmounted the current (nightly) tape from the changer before the reboot. Now Bacula complains it cannot access the changer: 3301 Issuing autochanger "loaded? drive 0" command. 3991 Bad autochanger "loaded? drive 0" command: ERR=Child exited with code 1. Quantum scalar i40 tape partitions
Hi All, I have a Quantum scalar i40 tape library. I need to configure it to TWO tape partition libraries, e.g., library_a and library_b, so that each library has its own tape drive. Then connect this physical tape library to two different CentOS servers so that each server can see its own media changer and tape drive. I once had a successful configuration on one host but NOT on the other. One

persistent generic device for tape changer
Hello, mtx and therefor amanda use generic device /dev/sg<x> for tape changer. These devices change on reboot. How to make them persistent? /dev/sch0 and /dev/sch1 seem to be persistent. /dev/tape/by-id/ shows links from WWID to generic device An UDEV rule could help? I have not found any example. -- Viele Gr??e Helmut Drodofsky Internet XS Service GmbH He?br?hlstra?e 15 70565

Salut Alex.

High Number of VMs
Hi, I''m curious about how you guys deal with big virtualization installations. To this date we only dealt with a small number of VM''s (~10)on not too big hardware (2xquad xeons+16GB ram). As I''m the "storage guy" I find it quite convenient to present to the dom0s one LUN per VM that makes live migration possible but without the cluster file system or cLVM

Adaptec 39320A woes
I'm having speed problems with the SCSI card we're using to do tape backup. It seems to be functioning in 16 bit mode and the current thinking is that perhaps it's using a legacy driver instead of the correct one. The Adaptec site has a 'driver' for RHEL5 which I've downloaded and tried to install but it seems to have a problem installing on a CentOS-5 system. [root at
