Sweave from Kile
Hello Does anybody have experience with Sweave run from Kile? I'm trying to make it run but have problems and don't know if the instructions are false or I do something wrong (my knowledge in bash and shell is too low to understand it)... I discovered recently Sweave and wanted to run it from my latex editor, Kile. I found and followed these instructions: > If you want to be able

Sweave and kile
Dear R-users, I want to give a try to Sweave and Latex but I am having some problems compiling my .Rnw files within Kile. I have followed the recommendations given in http://tolstoy.newcastle.edu.au/R/e5/help/08/10/4277, but they do not seem to address my particular problem. I am using R 2.11.0 and Kile v 2.0.83 on an OpenSUSE11.2 installation (KDE 4.3 environment). According to the log (see

[C6] Some typical apps missing?
Hi everyone! :-) I just installed CentOS 6 on one of my desktop machines, and yum now tells me that some of my favorite apps are not present in any of the repositories I configured. To name a few: ktorrent, kile, krusader, pavucontrol, mplayerplug-in (or is it now gecko-mediaplayer), xine, xmms, and so on... All these apps were readily available for C5, and I used them happily. I am mostly

par(mfg=) and postscript and pdf
This is related to the incorrect bug report PR#7820. Marc Schwartz pointed out in https://stat.ethz.ch/pipermail/r-devel/2005-April/033016.html an example of a real problem. If you call par(mfg=) after par(mfrow) (or mfcol) and before you have done any plotting, NewPage is not called on the device at the start of the first page. That causes the DSC comments to be incorrect on postscript()

postscript bounding box in trellis/lattice plot is wrong ?
Hi, a problem involving postscript bounding boxes: I'm composing three scatterplots into a single figure, postsript for publication. The individual scatterplots should be square, so the overall figure should have a roughly 1:3 sort of aspect ratio. By default however, the overall figure comes out nearly square, and the scatterplots are stretched vertically. I fixed this by adding

problem with multiple figure postscript file
Hello all! I'm a newcomer to R, so please bear with me. My problem is the following: I'm trying to use R to do some geostatistics stuff (mostly kriging), and am having trouble printing a multiple figure. When I create a single figure (one image/contour command), it works fine. The instant I try to create a multiple figure file, I start getting postscript errors. I'm using the

PostScript File Dimensions
Hi List, here I go again. Well I need to save plotted objects as .eps using the postscript() function, well I can do that but all resulting object are perfect squared dimensions (x = y). I need a rectangular output something like x = 2y dimension. Is it possible? The I’m new to R and postscript image format! I’m doing this…

PostScript output error
Hello, I'm currently using R-0.65.0 with --gnome option in configure on IRIX64 and Debian GNU/Linux. I found a problem in generated postscript file which has following sequence: x <- 1:30 postscript("output.ps") par(mfg=c(1,1,2,2)) plot(x,sin(x)) plot(x,sin(x)) plot(x,sin(x)) plot(x,sin(x)) dev.off() The generated postscript file "output.ps" can't

need help with pdf-plot
Hello, I'm trying to plot a set of barplots like a matrix (2 rows, 10 columns from"reduced_mat") to a pdf. It works with the following parameters: pdf("test.pdf",width=ncol(reduced_mat)*2, height=nrow(reduced_mat)*2, pointsize = 12) par(mfcol = c(nrow(reduced_mat),ncol(reduced_mat)), oma = c(0,0,0,0), lwd=48/96, cex.axis = 0.5, las = 2, cex.main = 1.0) The I get a

use of split.screen() with postscript device
Greetings, I am new to R and quite confused by the apparent inconsistency in it's behavior. My latest difficulty lies in producing eps output for use with latex. In particular, I was successful in obtaining a single figure by using: postscript("ripple1.eps",onefile=FALSE) plot(nu_set[[1]],ip[[1]]) lines(nu_set[[1]],predict(fitIp[[1]])) dev.off() ...but then I tried to place two

Problem with vignette compilation during R CMD check
Dear R-users, I am going through the last steps of package prep before submission to CRAN and I have the following problem. My package contains a single vignette written in optimbase.Rnw and that in stored in /inst/doc. optimbase.Rnw contains multiple \input{} statements that refer to .tex files stored in /inst/latex.ref/, e.g.: \input{../latex.ref/optimbase-package.tex} When I compile my Rnw

Sweave produces gibberish instead of apostrophe in pdf
Dear All, I try to use Sweave to make a document. But when I use the Sweave() command on it and build a pdf with pdflatex (3.141592-1.40.3) my apostrophes are replaced by some gibberish (an 'a' with a hat on it, a capital A with a arc pointing upwards on it and a capital Y with two points on it). If I manually replace the apostrophes using the keyboard, I get a different looking

plot to postscript orientation
Hi I am trying to save some plots in a postscript file. When I generate the plots in the main window, they appear correctly - their orientation is landscape (i.e., horizontal). However, when I open the .ps file with GSview, the whole page appears vertically, and the plot appears horizontally, which means that the plot is only partially visible (example here

latex writer in gnome?
Does anybody know the gnome program that you can write in latex with please? I'm not sure but I think its in the base repo. Its not winefish as it (winefish) doesn't compile the source text like the program that I'm looking for does. Hopefully thanks Sharon. -- 16:41:46 up 1 day, 16:56, 2 users, load average: 1.54, 1.45, 1.51 A taste of linux

kate editor for R
Like kile for LaTeX, Linux/KDE's kate editor is an excellent editor for R, with easy code submission to a running R process. Syntax highlighting is good. I have not been able to figure out two things: - how to automatically reformat a line or region of text using good indentation rules (Emacs/ESS make this so easy by just hitting Tab while the cursor is in a line, or highlighting a

But does not work when using the save as postscript menu item from the plot window. is there any solution for that? opar <- par(mfrow = c(2,2), oma = c(0, 0, 1.1,

self-split plot on multiple device
Hello! I would plot more than 10 (this number is always different) graphics on a figure with layout like 'mfrow=c(4,2)'. There is some existing function able to open the right number of device if number of graphics is done or I have to build it myself with some 'IF.....ELSE.....'? Thanks.
