Dovecot .99 Bug - LF not found where expected
After about three years of this, it seems I have finally gotten
somewhere near to the bottom of this.
The symptom:
Suddenly a user cannot download their email. Checking again through
SquirrelMail, I get an error which says a log was written.
Going to the logs I see
"imap(username): Error indexing mbox file /var/mail/username: LF not
found where expected"

CentOS - Spam List?
The latest thread on Spam on the list has the potential of dominating
the list for a long time. Is there any chance that perhaps the CentOS
team might consider an Anti-Spam for CentOS mailing list? I would love
to participate in such a list. From a subscriber point of view, I would
think a 'CentOS A/S' list would be both pertinent and manageable from a
volume standpoint.
I know this

CentOS 5.6 PHP 5.3 and SquirrelMail
OK, so I did an upgrade to PHP 5.3 on one of my servers. I noticed the
uninstall of php also removed SquirrelMail and it won't install under
PHP 5.3. Has anybody worked this out with a good RPM or repo solution?

Wherefore whitebox?
Well,
I'm a recent convert from WBEL. My biggest concern with CentOS is that the
community here seems to want to be more than a recompile of RHEL.
But WBEL is floundering, what with Katrina and Rita, and there really being
only 1 developer behind it, etc.
I offer an automated shell script to switch from WBEL4 to CentOS4 (easy, it's
hosted on my home DSL line!) It assumes that

SquirrelMail Prefs Deleted
FYI. I just had all of the squirrelmail prefs for all the users on one
of my servers disappear. I have never had anything like this happen ever
before. I'm in the process of finding the needle in the haystack of logs
to try to get a handle on this. I'm sending this to the list as a heads
up. Seems like Squirrelmail is not doing so good here over the last few
months.

A little iptables help
Wondering if anyone is willing to give me a little assistance with some
firewall rules. I think what I'm looking for is fairly simple, and I've
been trying to use webmin's firewall module without success.
I have a web server that I'd like to open up port 80 and forward a
specific port for a select number of allowed ips. That's it. Everything
else is dropped.

SquirrelMail Sending Under Wrong Username
CentOS team... as is already bug reported and marked solved... as we
await the upstream repair for this.
It was reported that this was happening on CentOS 5. You likely already
know, but it also happens on CentOS 4.
For those unaware. It seems that SquirrelMail has an issue which allows
mail to be sent out from one user on the system and it uses the from
address of another user on the

Hosting
Hi
I am using Centos 4.3 to host various web sites that I maintain. I am
finding that I am getting more and more, and I have thought of setting up a
hosting server to make things quicker for my self. I have setup webmin with
virtualmin and it seems to work fine so far. What is everyone else using.
I don't want to invest alot of money, but would like some thing that is
quick and easy to

Squirrelmail Problem on CentOS 4.4
Recently, some of my accounts cannot read any email in the INBOX within
Squirrelmail. The error....
The server couldn't find the message you requested.
Most probably your message list was out of date and the message has been
moved away or deleted (perhaps by another program accessing the same
mailbox).
The messages are not being moved out. In fact, I can delete one of those
messages

palabras.

CentOS 6 Webmail
I see that SquirrelMail is gone from 6. Is there a package in here
somewhere that is a webmail system? Otherwise, I suppose it lives in one
of the repos like sourceforge. I just wanted to check if something new
existed before doing that.

Alternative to cPanel
Hello all,
I'm looking to setup a new CentOS box for a buddy of mine who
wants to do hosting on a server via CoLo, Years ago I whipped up a CP of my
own on a Debian box he colo'd running a basterdized qmail/tinydns and custom
built httpd/mysql/etc (I was young). It worked ok but time to move on and I
don't have time to maintain all those packages. I also don't have
time to write

New Bind Update
I was wondering if the new bind update is going smoothly for those who
have done it?
I've been a little hesitant to run it yet as the last time forced a bit
of time fixing things. I'm trying to plan if I need to have some hours
available for this or if it is like most of the time.. just do it and
everything's ok.
Best,

Struggling with javac
I've installed jdk-1_5_0_08-linux-i586.rpm and Tomcat.
Working through some initial test install programs, I am finding that I
can't seem to compile .java files into classes.
For instance...
javac -classpath /usr/local/tomcat/common/lib/servlet.jar HelloWorld.java
as instructed fails with a
gij: unrecognized option -- `-classpath'
Try `gij --help' for more information.

Rid me of this boot GUI
One of these days, RedHat might actually run me off!!!! AAAARGH!!!!
Can anyone tell me how to get CentOS 4 to simply boot to the console in
text mode? If I wanted a stinkin' GUI I would have installed winders!
Now, my KVM and 25 foot cord is just too long to send a GUI signal
across the room and I'm missing 50% of the screen.. striped vertically..

Bind Issues
I'm running bind in a chroot environment. It seems that since the Redhat
snafu which wrecked bind (yes, I had caching nameserver running as well
but not anymore) I have been having problem with my slave nameservers
retrieving updates from the master.
Looking at the zone records, some are owned by root, some are owned by
named. I'm now confused as to what the ownership should be and

spam control
Gents,
I have added the following to /etc/mail/sendmail.mc and rebuilt it
trying to control spam. I still get about 25 spam messages a day.
Is there something else that can help control spam?
Thanks

I have a checker under review that could be enhanced to do that -- though
it currently replaces `X->foo() && isa<Y>(X->foo())` with

CentOS 5 and bittorrent
Folks. This is likely to be the hardest hit CentOS has ever taken with
regards to bandwidth needs.
I was really hesitant to use bittorrent for this type of thing for a
long time. However, it really is nice to give back at least what you
take. At the moment, I'm seeing almost 3000 connections to the torrent.
That times 3.5 gigs is a pretty huge chunk of data... and it has just begun.
