Package to work with weight based data
Hi Biswajit Kar, Take a look at this CRAN Task: https://cran.r-project.org/web/views/OfficialStatistics.html Also, I've been re-writing functions of package "ineq" so that they accept weights. I can provide those if you find them useful. Finally, there are a bunch of packages in CRAN that provide plottings using weights (e.g. "weights", "Hmisc",

Suggest changing dirhash defaults for FreeBSD 9.2.
I have been experimenting with dirhash settings, and have scoured the internet for other peoples' experience with it. (I found the performance improvement in compiling has forestalled the need to add an SSD drive. ;-) I believe that increasing the following values by 10 would benefit most FreeBSD users without disadvantage. vfs.ufs.dirhash_maxmem: 2097152 to 20971520

Mirrors?
Okay, since the site is slashdotted can someone post a list of mirrors to this list? For starters I've put the tarballs at ftp://ftp.rlug.org/vorbis, if anyone's having a hard time getting through. Printing question
Hello all. I have a question about setting up samba to serve windows printing. I have been trying to research this but keep coming up with conflicting howto's. Can someone give me directions to an up-to-date print howto? It would be greatly appreciated as I am stuck on this. Can't get 3.1p1 to compile under Solaris 8
OK, I feel like an idiot, but I can't get 3.1p1 to compile under Solaris 8. Older versions I've gotten set up, but can't with this latest one. I have followed both the general directions and the directions in contrib/solaris, and neither one works. Since I have Solaris, here's the output from the directions in contrib/solaris... ./configure --with-pam

Easy help with plots, font size
I am trying to make some plots for a poster. Each one needs to be 6 inches by inches. Right now the fonts are too small and the plots don't read well on my poster. I am pretty much an R newbie and I can't figure out how to change the fonts. It would also be nice to know how to specify the size of the plot and maybe how to save the plots as jpeg files. Any help would be much appreciated! I

Has anyone used Sweave with the Beamer poster macro for Latex ?
Hello, I'm trying to make a poster in Latex using the beamer poster macro (http://www-i6.informatik.rwth-aachen.de/~dreuw/latexbeamerposter.php), and use Sweave to add in R output. This works fine for adding graphics and tables, but if I want to put code in, the file fails to build in Latex. My Rnw file looks like \documentclass[final,hyperref={pdfpagelabels=false}]{beamer}

Rating R Helpers
Since R is open source and help may come from varied levels of experience on R-Help, I wonder if it might be helpful to construct a method that can be used to "rate" those who provide help on this list. This is something that is done on other comp lists, like http://www.experts-exchange.com/. I think some of the reasons for this are pretty transparent, but I suppose one reason is that
