rimage package broken with fedora upgrade
Dear R list members
I would be grateful if anyone could guide me to a solution for fixing my
rimage package problem described below.
I recently upgraded my machine from fedora core 3 to fedora core 6 and
then upgraded R from version 2.3.1 from version 2.4.1.
I then fired up R, tried to load the rimage library and received the
following messages:

display SVG, PNG, GIF, JPEG, TIFF, PPM in new plot frame
Dear R-help
I want to display an image file in a new plot frame.
SVG is my preferred format, but I can also consider
PNG, GIF, JPEG, TIFF, and PPM (from ImageMagick).
By way of background (although not material to this
posting), the image file is generated by a call to
'dot' (part of the 'Graphviz' suite) after the required
.dot file has been produced using hand-crafted R code.

read.*: How to read from a URL?
The question is how to use a URL in place of a file= argument for
read.*.functions that do
not support this internally.
e.g., utils::read.table() and her family all support a file= argument
that can take a URL
equally well as a local file. So, if I have a file on the web, I can
equally well do

write in rimage package
Is there any way to write an imagematrix generated by the rimage package?
Reproducible example:
library(rimage)
x <- read.jpeg(system.file("data", "cat.jpg", package="rimage"))
png("newcat.png")
plot(x)
dev.off()
The newcat.png image is different from the original file, because
there are ugly white borders around it.

rimage doesn't install on Mac OS X 10.4
Hi,
I'm trying to install rimage on a Mac OS X 10.4 machine. I followed the
advice in previous R-help threads and got over the hurdles of having the
header files in the right places, among other things. But I can't
figure out what to do with this error.

install packages from intranet
Hi,
I'm new to R. Apologies if this is a simple query, I've searched the mailing lists and docs but can't find a solution to my problem.
I'm trying to make some packages available on our intranet. During development the 'intranet' is a webserver running on localhost.

Dear Rxperts..
I am trying to install a few packages in R (version 2.14.2) on a *64-bit
Window 7* workstation. Some of the errors are posted below.. Both 32-bit
and 64-bit versions of R were installed. I did not get errors while
installing packages through *32-bit R*, except that it could not update
some of the packages (already installed with 64-bit R)
