Sweave and Trellis in R 2.0.0patched (Windows)
I've been using the following code to plot using Sweave in version 1.9.1 library(RODBC) library(lattice) channel <-odbcConnectExcel("h:/water.xls") data <- sqlQuery(channel,"select * from `Sheet1$` where Test = 'TOC' and (Valve='5010-05' or Valve='8030-V26' or Valve='1180-08' or Valve='5040-08')") odbcClose(channel) srt <-

Sweave choking on \\ in filename
Dear all, Sweave chokes when using "\\" in the path to the Rnw file. Using "/" works fine. The problem is that Eclipse+StatET uses "\\" in the filename. And example of the error, traceback and sessionInfo are given below. Best regards, Thierry > Sweave("Q:\\BMK\\cursussen\\interne_opleiding\\deelnemerslijst.Rnw", syntax="SweaveSyntaxNoweb")

Sweave bug? when writing figures / deleting variable in chunk
I have found a quite strange (to me) behaviour in Sweave. It only occurs in the following situation: 1. define a variable in one chunk 2. use it within a subsequent figure-generating chunk 3. delete it at the end of that same chunk Then the Sweave driver chokes, not finding the variable name when generating the figure Example: % document bug2.Rnw \documentclass{article} \usepackage{Sweave}

Tempfile error
Dear List: I am encountering an error that I can't resolve. I'm looping through rows of a dataframe to generate individual tex files using Sweave. At random points along the way, I encounter the following error Error in file() : cannot find unused tempfile name At which point Sweave halts. There isn't a logical pattern that I can identify in terms of why the program stops at

'Apparently' trouble with name spaces and Sweave...
Ben Bolstad experienced something odd while running R CMD check over a package of ours using r-devel (yesterday's fresh). He tracked down the problem to a vignette calling 'library(MASS)'. Please kindly ignore if this is a known (and temporary) issue. Laurent ----- Forwarded message from Ben Bolstad <bolstad@stat.berkeley.edu> ----- Return-Path:

Sweave, SweaveHooks and printing the label
I would like to print the label of each code chunk, just before printing the code chunk itself. Is that possible using SweaveHooks, or by some other mechanism? Problem compiling Rnw file
Dear R list, I'm using R 2.15.2 with TeX Live 2009 and ESS 12.09 . I have a R project in the '/home/r/Documents/myproj/', which is my working directory (where I have the .Rnw file). Inside the document I have several "setwd()" to collect the datasets I use. After I compile from the terminal using "R CMD Sweave myproj.Rnw", I receive the error: Error in

change default output size when using Sweave
I am trying to create a graphic output in Sweave but I do not want it to be standard size. I want the whole graphic to be 80mm of height only, just like the viewport below. <<fig=TRUE, echo=TRUE>>= pushViewport(viewport(height = unit(80, "mm"))) grid.rect() grid.text("I want this viewport to be the whole output size") popViewport() @ How can I make

Rotate a plot, and subplot
Hi all, Is there a way to rotate a plot, e.g. a histogram, by a certain angle (90/180/270 degress)? I spent hours trying to figure out how this is done, but without success. Also, I'm looking for an equivalent to the S-Plus "subplot" command to insert a kind of "thumbnail" graphic into a bigger one. How is this best done in R? Thanks for your help Pascal

Problem when combining dotplot() and textplot() using grid
Hi everyone. I want to solve the following problem. I have a data.frame and I create a dotplot using lattice. Then I want to use the grid-package to create a combined graphic which contains the dotplot as well as a textplot() (using package gplots) of the data.frame next to the dotplot. Example code: library(lattice) library(grid) library(gplots) xx <- data.frame(f=factor(rep(1:5, each=5)),

Problem going back to a viewport with gridBase
I am setting up base plots -- one in viewport A and and one in B. This part works fine. But if I go back to A after having done B and add horizontal lines it seems to not use the correct coordinates. How do I tell it to resume using A's coordinates? I am already using par(fig = gridFIG()) but it seems that that's not enough to reestablish them. What happens is that when I go back to

animated grid graphics
I need to make a fairly complex animated graphic and decided to use grid for it. A very simple example of what I need: ##============================================================================== library(grid) grid.newpage() pushViewport(plotViewport()) pushViewport(viewport(xscale = extendrange(c(0, 100)), yscale = extendrange(c(0, 100)))) grid.xaxis() grid.yaxis()

Rotated viewports in Grid
Hi all, I'm trying to generate a plot containing a scatterplot, with marginal densityplots for x and y. However, when I try to generate a vertical densityplot, I get the message "warning: can't clip to rotated viewport", and nothing shows up. I'm probably misunderstanding how viewports are meant to be used, so if someone could give me a hint, I'd be most grateful. my

Help combining cell labelling and multiple mosaic plots
Dear colleagues I'm using data that looks like .test and .test1 below to draw two mosaic plots with cell labelling (the row percentages from the tables). When I take out the pop=FALSE commands in the mosaic commands and comment out the two lines labelling the cells, then the plots are laid out exactly as I'd like: side-by-side. But I do require the cell labelling and the pop=FALSE

grid layout scaling viewport width based solely on height
Hello all, I'm trying to write a function that produces a main plotting region with several square plots along the right side. Ideally the size of right side plots will scale only with the height of the entire plot, yet never overlap with another secondary plot. The following two snippets get close, however, as I resize the plot horizontally the right side plots (green squares) get smaller

Problem with viewports, print.trellis and more/newpage
Dear R-users, I have got the following problem. I need to create 4x2 arrays of xyplot's on several pages. The plots are created within a loop and plotted using the print function. It seems that I cannot find the proper grid syntax with my viewports, and the more/newpage arguments. The following script is a simplification but hopefully will suffice to illustrate my problem. Any suggestion
