different logon path for different users - local profiles for a few users only - how?
I would like to have roaming profiles for one group of users (student1, student2), and local profiles for another group of users (Joe, Mary). Is it possible with Samba? From what I've tested, one can use either roaming profiles with a setting similar to the one below: logon path = \\%L\profiles\%G\%U Or local profiles, using the logon path empty: logon path = I have no clue how to

Hi A college has students arranged with Linux home directories according to which year they belong to and which class within that year, a or b or whatever, they belong to e.g.: /home2/students/year7/year7a/student1 /home2/students/year7/year7a/student2 ... ... /home2/students/year13/year13a/student2500 To get at

"disappeared" user
I would really appreciate some help figuring out why one of my students has "disappeared" from the user list, and what to do about it. I'm using Samba3 on Fedora; the client machines are running WinXP. The system has been up and running since the beginning of September. Today one of my 4th-graders was unable to log on; she didn't read the error message carefully, so she

symmetric (& square) contingency table from dataset of unordered pairs
Hi Everybody, I have a data set in which each observation has a pair of students, with each kid id'd by a 4 digit number: > head(PAIRS) student1 student2 2 2213 2200 4 2198 2195 5 2199 2191 6 2229 2221 7 2247 2249 8 2250 2263 There is no significance to student1 vs. student2: they are just a pair, and the "variable" names could

Security: ads - "net ads user" works, "wbinfo -u" does not
Hi, I have Debian Squeeze running Samba being a member of the domain (PDC and BDC are Windows servers) and it's users are authenticated against AD using winbind for years. Now there is a need to setup another virtual Debian box exactly like that. So the name of the first is STUDENT, I named the virtual STUDENT2. I'm trying to set up the virtual box exactly the same, using exactly the

Sharing of Directories & assigning group permissions to directories
Hi Everyone, This is a follow-up question on Samba. After doing rpm to reinstall the dependencies on libcups.so.2 and libssl.so.2. Samba went on fine. My question is regarding Client machines Win98 could not log on to the samba server. This gave me an error message --> The share name was not found. Be sure you typed it correctly. As far as I can remember I did the following on my samba box.

user's smbd process generates high cpu utilization
I'm probably looking for suggestions on tracing problems rather than a specific fix, since I don't see any links relevant to my problem. We have a Samba PDC with an ldap backend, serving about 100 active users and another 400 relatively inactive lab machines that connect once at the beginning of the day and possibly load a file or two from a network share. We have a problem where

minor omissions re "special" windows file names (PR#9622)
"lpt1" through "lpt9" and "com1" through "com9" are in fact "special" file names under various versions of Microsoft Windows. However, "R Extensions" says only that "lpt1" through "lpt4" and "com1" through "com3" cannot be used as filenames, and "R CMD check" checks for just these

what is 'class.ind' here?
Hi. The there is an example in nnet help which is pasted in below. I am not sure how they are generating 'targets'. What is the 'class.ind() function doing? In the help docs for it they say "Generates a class indicator function from a given factor." I tried putting a simple vector of the "classes" into test.cl (below) but I get an error of "(list) object

I'm creating my own package for personal and I'm having trouble getting it to a point where R (v 2.3.1) will recognise it. I've followed two different tutorials for how to create the package structure and the DESCRIPTION file ( http://web.maths.unsw.edu.au/~wand/webcpdg/rpack.html , http://www.maths.bris.ac.uk/~maman/computerstuff/Rhelp/Rpackages.html#Lin-Lin ). Beginner question: How to replace part of a filename in read.csv?
I would like to use samp as a part of a filename that I can change. My source files are .csv files with date as the file name, and I would like to be able to type in the date (later perhaps automate this using list.files) and then read the csv and write the pdf automatically. I have tried different combinations with "" and () around samp, but I keep getting the error "object

lmer and estimation of p-values: error with mcmcpvalue()
Dear all, I am currently analyzing count data from a hierarchical design, and I?ve tried to follow the suggestions for a correct estimation of p-values as discusssed at R-Wiki (http://wiki.r-project.org/rwiki/doku.php?id=guides:lmer-tests&s=lme%20and%20aov). However, I have the problem that my model only consists of parameters with just 1 d.f. (intercepts, slopes), so that the

gelman.diag question
Dear Friends, I am trying to use the gelman-rubin convergence test. I generated a matrix samp[10,000x86] with the gibbs sampler. the test requires the creation of "mcmc" objects. Since I don't know how to define samp as a "mcmc" object, I tried to create one mcmc object by means of the mcmc() function. With this function I tried to create a mcmc object dul from samp but I

Need to abstract changing name of column within loop

The problem is I can't refer to the object by its actual variable name, since that will change each time through the loop.
