xtable - caption missing with float=FALSE
Hi,
For some reason I'm finding that my table caption is disappearing if I
print xtable output with the floating argument set to FALSE. Below is a
very simple Sweave file that produces two tables the first has no
caption and the second has a caption (if you want to see it
http://www.zevross.com/temp/test.pdf).
Does anyone know what I can do to fix this?

xtable and sweave: caption placement problem
Dear All
I am running Sweave with xtable and want to put the caption placement
on top. But this does not work. Any idea what is going wrong?
Here is an example that runs properly with the exception of the
caption placement in the pdf-file.
\documentclass[11pt,a4paper]{article}
\usepackage{Sweave}
\begin{document}
<<>>=
x = runif(100, 1, 10)
y = 2 + 3 * x + rnorm(100)

Recursive objects
Hi all,
Does anyone have a comprehensive list of recursive-type objects in R?
is.recursive defines them as by exclusion: "most types of objects are
regarded as recursive, except for vector types, ?NULL? and symbols
(as given by ?as.name?)." I think this that means recursive objects
are:
* lists
* pairlists
* calls
* expressions
Did I miss anything?

Sweave, xtable and font size
Hi,
I'm using Sweave with xtable to generate Latex tables. My problem is that some of the tables are too wide, and I would like to use the tiny font for these tables, but not for the others nor for the text. I can't work out how to accomplish that.
The Latex code below does what I want it to, but I have to insert the "\tiny{" and the closing "}" by hand. It

sysdata.rda, namespaces and package dependencies
Hi all,
I'm struggling with accessing a package dataset (munsell.map, stored
in sysdata.rda) when that package is imported, not required. A simple
reproducible example is:
install.packages("munsell")
munsell::mnsl("10B 4/6")
# Error in match(col, munsell.map$name) : object 'munsell.map' not found
library(munsell)

readRDS and saveRDS
Hi all,
Is there any chance that readRDS and saveRDS might one day become
read.rds and write.rds? That would make them more consistent with the
other reading and writing functions.

xtable "beta" testing wanted
Dear R-users,
I've enhanced the "xtable" package, adding numerous features that have been requested by users. The changes are listed below.
The objective throughout has been to avoid any breaking changes. However, as "xtable" is widely used and is a dependency of many packages I'd like to have others try it out before I post it to CRAN. Both bug reports and design

Base function for flipping matrices
Hi all,
Are there base functions that do the equivalent of this?
fliptb <- function(x) x[nrow(x):1, ]
fliplr <- function(x) x[, nrow(x):1]
Obviously not hard to implement (although it needs some more checks),
just wondering if it had already been implemented.

How to detect if a vector is FP constant?
Hi all,
What's the equivalent to length(unique(x)) == 1 if want to ignore
small floating point differences? Should I look at diff(range(x)) or
sd(x) or something else? What cut off should I use?
If it helps to be explicit, I'm interested in detecting when a vector
is constant for the purpose of visual display. In other words, if I
rescale x to [0, 1] do I have enough precision to get

Horisontal line in xtable
Hi everyone (Pardon the incorrect terminology of my previous post: "vertical
line...).
I have created a function that uses xtable to print table of frequencies and
percentages with a heading and some sample information (the sample size and
missing values). The function and example data is below.
I want a horisontal line that separates the results from the sample
information i.e. a

Problem with xtable- rescaling a table
Dear R users,
I am new to Latex and I am using the R package xtable to generate tables.
I want to produce a table that is very long. in the landscape format, but
I would need to rescale the table so that it fits in the page. xtable
enables me to have the landscape format, but I cannot rescale it, and there
seems to be a problem, if I use scalebox in Latex on my output produced

Does anybody know about label conflicts between xtable and Hmisc? I found a couple of e-mails similar to this problem but is not clear to me how to get around the label problem.

xtable - how to add a "sum of values in a row" column?
Hi,
I saw this example for 2.10 Time series in the xtable gallery documentation.
http://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/xtable/vignettes/xtableGallery.pdf
How would I add a column at the end "Total" which sums the row, with minimal
changes to the code below?
Thanks in advance.

Sweave problem, with multicolumn tables from R to LaTeX
Hi there,
I have been using the example provided bellow for a while, and It was
working without any problem. Nevertheless, just since 2-3 days is not
working, probably because I did update.packages(). I have tried to
re-install the older versions of the packages Hmisc() and xtable(), but
still does not work. Can you run this example, and tell me if you got
the same problems?
