Installing packages from folder on the computer
i am able to install zip files of packages from local zip files using the
file.choose() for the package argument in install.packages() function in R
console and also from the Packages menu>install from local zip files. But
if there are many packages to install (say >15 or 20), then i have to factor
in dependencies of 15-20 packages which may be more than 100 or 200 packages
in all to be

package xpose4 in Vista - Update
Dear R experts,
There seems to be a problem (please see the error messages below) with the
installation of the latest version of xpose4 (version 4.2.1) with the latest
R version.(2.11.1)... I didn't face such installation problems when using
version R.2.10.1

I have been trawling the web, FAQs, and R manuals for help on the following issue, but have failed and was wondering if anyone has a solution to the following problem:
After having installed R 2.6.2 for Windows (binary), I tried to install various packages. Every time I try loading a package (any package) via the built-in menu, I run into the following error message.

problems installing package XML to a computer without an internet connection
Hello,
I am hoping for some advice regarding how I can install the XML
package which I require to run package tm.
Normally I would use the install package option, however, I have to
install the packages to a laptop running XP. The laptop does not have
an internet connection.

Trouble installing package 'systemfit'
I tried unnder R 2.9.0 and R 2.8.1. Both versions failed to install 'systemfit'.
I downloaded file 'systemfit_1[1].0-8.zip' to install the package.
I am using Windows 2000 service pack 4.
The error message is:

R cannot access the web?
Hi,
I had originally posted regarding an error when trying to install package -
GenABEL - it has now become clear that R is not able to connect to the net.
Below are a couple of things I've tried with the resulting errors

Installing Packages in Windows Vista -- YES I tried Run as Administrator
I'm having trouble installing packages in Windows Vista. It's driving me
nuts.
I read all the threads and I have tried the following:
1) Right click on R and Run as Administrator
2) Turn off User Account Control
3) Toss machine across room (OK haven't tried this one yet, but I'm close)

how to convert a unix R package to windows installable zip file?

I downloaded a package with .gz extension, which presumably works for Unix,
when I installed it directly on windows, it has the error msg:

Reading zipped data directly from an FTP url

Sorry, I am clearly missing something here.
I want to read this file directly:
ftp://ftp.sanger.ac.uk/pub/mirbase/targets/v5/arch.v5.txt.gallus_gallus.

FW: Installing BRugs
A funny thing happened when I wanted a student of mine to install Brugs.
Using the InstallPackages in the windows version, firts gives an erro, but trying again works flawlessly.
R version is 2.7.0 on WinXP.
Any explanation?

I am running a loop downloading ?web pages and save the html to a
temporary file (use download.file() )
?then read (using readLines) ?it in for processing;
finally write useful info from each processed page to a unique file
the problem is once the loop runs up to somewhere near ?5000, it will
throw out an err like below and won't go further.
