Can't install CentOS 7 on SuperMicro X7DB3 with Adaptec AIC-9410 Controller
I have a server with Super Micro X7DB3 motherboard and Adaptech AIC-9410 controller (http://www.supermicro.com/products/motherboard/Xeon1333/5000P/X7DB3.cfm). The hard disk is single SeaGate SAS disk (300Gb).
I'd like to install CentOS 7 on the server, but unfortunately, the CentOS installer can't find any hard disk.
I think the problem maybe caused by the disk controller.
Can you please

CentOS 5: comment swap in fstab
I'm not sure what gave me this idea, but I decided
to comment out the swap partition in /etc/fstab
and reboot my laptop. I did not run swapoff directly at
any time.
I'm running more things now than I would ever dream of
to hammer my 500MB of memory, but I still notice NO
slowdown. This is the best desktop experience I've
ever had for any OS on any hardware!

Supermicro Adaptec AIC-9410 HostRAID controller
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

CentOS 5.3?
I'm working with a Supermicro X7DBR-3 motherboard. It has 2 "ICH Raid
Codebase" options in the Bios (Intel and Adaptec); neither of which seem
to change Linux's behavior. The interesting part though, choosing
either Adaptec or Intel, then performing

User Administrator (and only it) access denied on member server
Hello all,
I have really strange problem with Samba 4.1.0 - regarding only one
user - Administrator.
There are 2 servers: NAS (which is DC) and CHEETAH (Which is domain member).
Have spent long time in efforts to sync UID/GID across servers (these
are used both from Linux over NFS and from Windows) - and finally
wrote the scripts to make all users/groups (even including the builtin
one, like

Using STL containers in R/C++
Hi All,
I am in the process of writing an R extension in c++ and am using several
STL containers (e.g., vector<double>, map<int, double>, multimap<int,
double>). I make sure to clear all these containers at the end of the
.Call. Everything compiles and runs just fine, but I'm a bit worried
since I haven't found any other packages that use STL.
So, my question: is it

How winbindd is working on DC/member? It ignores rfc2703 on DC, and not showing all users on member server... Where is a error?
Hi all,
Still looking for the best way to achieve consistent GID/UID mapping
on Linux servers/clients, in heterogeneous environment (Linux,
Windows, CIFS, NFS).
Current problems with UID/GID resolution prevents from using Samba4 in
environment with backups (where data may be restored on another
server) and mixed Linux/Windows workstations.
Just recently installed fresh Samba 4.1.0 on the server

Adaptec AIC-9410
Hello,
I just recently purchased two new Supermicro servers:
SYS-6025B-3R
SYS-6015B-3R
Both of these have an Adaptec AIC-9410 SAS controller in them, that is
apparently not detected (or supported?) by FreeBSD (amd64) (7.0 or 7.1
RC1)
Is there any way to get FreeBSD to detect this controller (and drives on
it)? I found some conversations from 2006 about this, but no updates
since.

Anyone using SuperMicro SuperServer 6014P-8R?
Hi,
Is anyone here using the SuperMicro SuperServer 6014P-8R with Asterisk?
I'm especially interested if you've used it with a TE405P or TE410P.
Cheers
Tony

rsync problem in systemimager
Hello,
I'm working on the oscar-1.3 release with my Linux Itanium's cluster to
test cloning process via systemimager.
After having succeeded to boot my client node via the network, when
running the following script : /var/lib/systemimager/scripts/ced1.sh
rsync is able to get small files (e.g : mkdosfs). However, when the
script tries to rsync the whole oscar image in the following way :

System hangs up every day
Hello everybody
Unfortunately my problem still doesn't have any solution.
But I have an interesting observation. The gateway freezes very quickly, if torrent client programs are running on workstations.
I assume the cause of the problem consists in many number of TCP/IP connections that torrent client establishes.
Any ideas?
Maybe I can tune somehow a TCP/IP via kernel, sysctl or pf settings?

Use 8GB RAM on Pentium D?
Hello:
I have a Supermicro SuperServer 5015P-TR.
It has a Pentium D and is running CentOS x86_64.
Can this machine use 8GB RAM?
I think it should because it is running a 64 bit
OS, but I am concerned because it is fundamentally
32 bit hardware.
Anyone have any experience in this area?
Thanks,
Neil

CentOS 6 and an SAS drive, hardware
This is... odd. Got a 6.8 box, a Dell R320 lspci tells me
01:00.0 RAID bus controller: LSI Logic / Symbios Logic MegaRAID SAS 2008
[Falcon] (rev 03)
so it *should* accept an SAS drive. I've got a Cheetah that's a few years
old, and having pulled it out of another server (in the datecenter), I put
it in this box to zero it out for reuse... and the box refuses to see the
drive. *Nothing* in

ANOVA Table for Full Linear Model?
Hello,
I have spent a good deal of time searching for an answer to this but
have come up empty-handed; I apologize if I missed something that is
common knowledge.
I am trying to figure out how to get an ANOVA table that shows the
sum of squares. degrees of freedom, etc, for the full model versus
the error (aka residuals).
Here is an example of the kind of table I'd like to get:

Triple- or Quad-display single-card graphics solutions
So, after some discussion of our new control workstations, we are iterating in on a solution; we are looking at a 1U short-depth SuperMicro SuperServer 5017R-MF with a graphics card in the PCI-Ex16 expansion slot. However, the display requirements have increased to 3 or more monitors for future expansion, so I was wondering whether anyone had any experience with triple- or quad-display single card

g++ 4.3 warning: deprecated conversion from string constant to ‘char*’
Hello,
I've noticed that with g++ 4.3 I get the following "warning: deprecated
conversion from string constant to ?char*?" when I call e.g.,
Rprintf("Hello world"); or when I try to define a const char e.g., char
lower = 'L';
I am wrapping the c++ code in extern "C" {}. This seems to be something
new with g++ 4.3, because the same code compiled

STABLE regression with AIC-7902 controller.
I have a Supermicro SuperServer 6013P-8 system which features a X5DPR-8G2
motherboard with embedded Adaptec AIC-7902 dual-Ultra320 SCSI controller.
Said system boots and runs fine with 4.8-RELEASE (with a slight cosmetic
problem during boot that can be cured by building a kernel without eisa
support). With STABLE (as of 19 June) the system locks up hard (no
response to the keboard) during the
